Seems like a typical souvenir/beach shop and perfect place for some "one stop shopping" on our way out of town. I needed a coffee mug for the dog sitter, wanted a wine glass or Christmas ornament for tradition and a couple of T-shirts:sweatshirts for the kids. Found it all and were happy with our purchases and prices. Even got the souvenir of year- a Carlsbad face mask! A little annoyed that I had no choice other than buying a 75 cent reusable bag to advertise their shop with my $75 purchase. That night, we get home to AZ and my daughter goes to put in the zip-up hoodie and the zipper is stuck. Never worn, tried on in a different color so just grabbed it in the store without trying on. Tears set in... receipt says clearly "All sales final. No returns." Surely they will be reasonable when I call them the day after I buy something, it has the tags on it and the zipper is broken. NOPE not in any way... THATS OUR POLICY. can I send it to you? NO... can you send me another one? NO... anything we can do? NO... Can I talk to the owner? NO... What is your name? Don't bother shopping anywhere else for your souvenirs! Best selection. Great prices. We went to shops all over Carlsbad and Encinitas. This place blows them all away. T shirts, sweatshirts, magnets, shotglasses, mugs, hats, tank tops, shorts...EVERYTHING! And they say Carlsbad! Which is where we are! Not San Diego. That's annoying. We're not in San Diego. After reading the reviews here I was a little nervous about what to expect when I went in looking for t shirts. However, the sales clerk was nothing if not friendly, greeting us both on entry and when we left. They don't have a fitting room, however, she said it wasn't a problem to try something on in the store, and gave me advice re: shrinkage. I had a similar experience to many others who reviewed this store over the years-- less than zero customer service. I am a local who finally decided to buy a Carlsbad shirt. I went yesterday and bought a long sleeved shirt and discovered today that it had an ink stain. The girl who was working yesterday was on a personal call the entire time I was there and seemed annoyed that I had a question. When I went back today to exchange/return the damaged shirt, the same girl was again on a personal call and was clearly irritated, placing her cell phone on her shoulder waiting for me to finish talking to her before picking back up again with her call. She could/would not answer any of my questions and would not help me find another shirt. When I asked for the store owner's phone number, she said I could come back the next day when the owner would be in the store. I will never shop here again. Buyer beware! Go shop at SunDiego or ANY other local shop before spending your money here. read more

This is a total tourist trap along a main drag in Carlsbad. It has exactly what you think it should have. T-shirts, hoodies, swim trunks, post cards, shot glasses and more. If they can print Carlsbad on it then it's probably sitting on a shelf or hanging from a rack. This is not a premium spot and its items as well as its customer service are priced as such. I haven't had any issues, but the last time I was in the woman working behind the counter had a definite IDAF attitude and didn't even care that she was playing an uncensored version of a popular beach artist's music release. I didn't mind, mainly because I bought a swimsuit for $18 and a Hawaiian shirt for $12, but I just want you to know that if you're expecting help or service you probably won't get it. It makes those cheap vacation goodies all the more worth it. read more

When I walked in the girl working there never acknowledged me even after I said hello. There was music playing, some rap music in Spanish. Ok, not the best music to make you want to shop for beachwear. It's too bad that my first impression was not good because this store had really nice stuff. Hard to be a small business during these very difficult times. However, you don't help yourself when you follow patrons around the store suspecting, I presume, they are going to shoplift. Walked in with my mom and daughter. All three of us remarked, as soon as we walked outside, on the store employee's behavior. It was super obvious what she was up to. Not sure if she was just an employee or the owner, but it certainly didn't create an inviting atmosphere. We were looking for inexpensive chachkies so the store was a good fit. While we didn't take the clerk following us throughout the store personally, hopefully the store owner reads this and learns from our feedback. We were comfortable in our movements and knew we were not doing anything to merit the special attention. We understood that the fear belonged to this woman. Bought 2 t-shirts late evening. Tried them on when I got home and one was stained and dirty. Early next morning we returned wanting to return their damaged item and was met with very unfriendly help saying how we stained it and all sales final. One t-shirt, no big loss but the principal of the situation was lost on the store help. If you buy there, check your merchandise, they surely put dirty shirts on top to sell hoping buyers don't notice. One t-shirt isn't going to break my bank but I will never enter their store again. Customer service is awful. Went in on 6/18 with my children and bought an item despite the poor customer service. My son was begging for something else that I promised him so we finally caved and went in tonight to get it for him. Well, the female behind the register was beyond rude. A magnet fell when a little girl ran out the door and she accused my child of breaking it. She told us that we had to pay for it because we "broke it" (it was barely chipped and I picked it up and placed it back). I told her the girl running out dropped it by accident on her way out and she said that we were the only family in the store. I'd pay for a $2 item if we were at fault but unfortunately bc of her bad attitude and lack of customer service we left. No purchase was made due to her lack of professionalism and false accusations take your business elsewhere! read more

Just a bunch of posers selling 5$ carlsbad keychains. Over priced, under staffed, and rude "employees" make this store the worst surf shop in cbad. On our recent trip to Socal to visit family. We stopped by this place on their recommendation, and it did not disappoint. Love tourism shops and adding to our collection of items from beach stores. This is by far my favorite store in Socal. The gentleman Dalton has the best customer service you could as for, for us out of towners. The Oceanside shop is Absolutely THE worst shop ever! Products are copied designs, and simply heat pressed on cheap fabrics. Lousy customer service! Every time you turn around your knocking something off a rack! It's way to packed! You can't even try to look for one thing to buy without making a total mess! Got a few things from there that broke almost as soon as I got home with them. Everything is really Cheaply made! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!! This review is for the Oceanside Harbor location. I went into the store on May 10, 2019 to have a look around with my wife and young son, it was around 8:30 P.M. We were the only people in the store other than the two teenage boys that worked there. First, nobody said "hello" or "can I help you find something", then at some point in our visit my son accidentally bumped into a turn-stand that had magnets on it and one of the magnets fell off the stand. It was in a very narrow pathway of the store that connects to the other side of the shop near the register. As I walked by the register, the two young employees were talking to each other and I heard the one wearing glasses say, "oh, don't pick it up" and then he said, "stellar parenting". It was at this time I noticed he was super gluing something. I went over and asked my son if he bumped into anything and right away he said yes, so we walked back over to the register. I don't know if my son realized that a magnet had fallen and broke so I asked the guy if my son broke something because if he did, then I wanted to pay for it. He then started acting nice and said, "oh no, that's ok". I insisted on paying for it, even though it was an accident. I was trying to hold back my anger at the completely inappropriate comments he had made. He then said, "you don't want a souvenir?" and I thought to myself, "I've been coming to the harbor over 40 years...longer than you have been alive!" I paid cash and he didn't offer me a receipt, which I should have asked for. Accidents happen and there is a way to handle these things politely and courteously. A couple days later, my wife called the store to speak to the manager and when she called, the girl who answered the phone just said "Hello" so my wife asked if she was calling the correct store and the girl said, "yeah". My wife then asked if the manager was available and the girl said, "he's next door eating". Just another bad review for a business that could be doing great, but they certainly lack customer service skills. read more

I've been a customer of this oceanside store for some time now. I noticed the manager the other day yelling at his employee in front of me and other customers. I love this store but I no longer feel comfortable shopping here. The manager has treated me and other customers with disrespect. It's sad because I really like this store it has a lot of really cool items to buy. It's sad seeing hard working people being yelled at when the manager doesnt seem to be doing his job. Been there done that. Hope things change because I won't be going here anymore its stressful shopping here when you walk in and can feel the tension. I talked to some other people that work in the harbor area and even they agreed that the manager has a bad attitude and isnt very friendly. They agreed and even admitted they felt sorry for the people working there and wouldnt be working there themselves, let alone shopping there while he is in the store because of discomfort with the environment. read more
