I have no understanding as to WHY Linda's Gifts does not have more stars! I came and visited this shop for the first time today and was amazed by how many gifts and fun items they carry, and then even gift wrap for FREE! That is unheard of. From my understanding, Linda is real and she has owned this shop for over 30 years. She has filled it to the brim with some amazingly unique items. They have cards, jewelry, soaps, canned stuffed animals, kitchen items, fresh chocolates, candy and so much more. It's hard to leave without purchasing something, and it's probably something you were expecting. I loved all the treats and treasures! Plus, the staff are all a wonderful group of women, who were all so kind and helpful. Looking forward to coming back soon! read more

This is one of the least welcoming stores I've been to. The staff are cold, unapproachable, and seem completely uninterested in providing even basic customer service. It feels like customers are more of a bother than the reason the store exists. A little courtesy and professionalism would go a long way, but sadly that seems to be missing here. read more

This place is RUDE, RUDE, RUDE... Customer service is terrible. The store hours say 10am at the door and online the door was unlocked with an older lady inside my daughter walk in at 10:07am and this old lady told my daughter did we say we are open!!! My daughter felt so unwelcome and walk right out. Is this the customer service we are showing now days it's terrible. I use to love buying the Jellycats here. Will not be going back due to the attitude of the staff and owner. All Jellycat lovers head around the corner to the dancin soul boutique. They are very lovely. They won't roll their eyes or act like you're a bother. Come on ladies. At your big ages, you'd think you'd present yourself better and with kindness. They have anything from ceramics, jewelry, candy, chocolates, sauces, jams etc. There were a lot of interesting items in my wheelhouse including birds and especially penguins. I started a collection as a kid and once in a while still to this day I will pick up something new if it speaks to me. I purchased a rockhopper figurine and a gentoo figurine. The cashier was polite and efficient, but I guess some other shoppers have had a different experience. Thankfully I cannot relate. read more

The selection of gifts and treats in the store is amazing but the vibe is weird (weird enough that it spurred me to actually write a review). The entire time I was in there I listened to who was either the owner or manger go from employee to employee and borderline berate them in a way that made me uncomfortable. She was giving them directions on things to do, but if anyone spoke to me the way she spoke to them I would quit in a second. I didn't really blame the employees when they came across kinda aggravated and disinterested when they checked me out. There were actually a few more expensive items I wanted to buy but I held myself back, got a couple cards and left, because I didn't want to support such toxic environment. read more

I've never had a bad experience, and the ladies behind the counter have always been helpful & friendly. Just strike up a conversation & they will chat and help in any way they can. She's known throughout Carlsbad to us natives as having the best cards, the best Christmas decorations and delicious fun items to warm your holidays and special occasions. What's more, if it's a last minute gift that you are needing to send via the mail she's also a post office!! And while everyone else nearby is very pricey, the amazing quality of the hand picked products which she curates for her customers give plenty of value for the spend. Well I never give my phone number or contact information out at the register for any of these rewards programs, I do with Linda. She's a woman of integrity and it's always a joy to go in and purchase something from her store. read more

Me and my friends like to go to that store and look at the jelly cats all the time. We are always very polite, nice, and respectful to the workers. But every time I go in there very rude to us. I tried looking at one and picking them up but she told us to put it down and not look at them. Some one else also told us that she was going to watch us shop like we were going to steal. My friends have had very similar experiences there and are always very kind but get treated bad. I would not recommend going here and finding other places to shop at. read more

It's a real shame when you are a local wanting to support local business and aren't treated like a human being in a store like this. There was so much character about it, such great handmade jewelry, but the ladies working there have got to get better at customer service. Why would I pay you to look at me with disdain and be disrespected? The lady working the register wouldn't even look me in the eye. I was ready to leave the merchandise and walk out because of her bad attitude but I was shopping with my daughter and mother-in-law on Mother's Day weekend. This place has some terrible service! I went to pay for something and was told I had to use debit option even though I wanted to use a credit card. While I was employed at Linda's Gift, she had me stop at the Dollar Tree to purchase numerous cheap items, and Linda would mark up the prices considerably, which I thought was very unethical. I have also witnessed Linda lie concerning various employee topics so she could achieve beneficial results. On top of that, her staff was quite often rude to the co-workers and customers, making it a hostile environment, along with the low pay. Go somewhere else to support local businesses. Employees are unfriendly, slow and rude. I moved to Carlsbad 2 years ago and have probably been in this store at least 8-9 times. Every time I go, the cashiers go so slowly especially when they have to wrap something. The women there are unfriendly and rude. There was a big line a few months ago and I already had been in line waiting 15 min even though I was second in line. The employee actually would stop gift wrapping and she and the customer had long conversations while everyone was waiting in line. How rude! If this happened once or twice but this seems to happen every time I go in there. From the reviews, it definitely seems like there have been a number of incidents of racial profiling and shaming a boy for liking a girl trinket? Seriously? It's 2022 ladies! read more

They do not want you giving them mail even though they advertise as a postal drop off! I went there today with a package the size of my palm and was told they do not accept Mail Drop-offs even though they are registered as a USPS drop-off! Maybe if the poor service I was given by the employees here had happened once or twice I wouldn't be leaving this review - but EVERY time I even browse through this store I am treated with contempt and honest disgust. The employees will ALWAYS follow me and my friends around the store as if we're trying to steal their merchandise. I have been asked to leave the store more than twice now for simply browsing, today I was looking at the STUFFED ANIMALS and was told that they are meant for infants and not me. She said to me that if they even touch the ground that I have to buy it, and if I'm just going to look than I have to leave. Well, it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and so after a great lunch at Craft Burger we wondered into Linda's Gift to stretch our legs and maybe buy a few cute trinkets. I was drawn to the Christmas things that were at least 50% off and my husband (white) and elementary school age sons (biracial)went to the back of the store to check things out. The elderly sales lady, after begrudgingly asking me how I was and ignoring my answer and my asking how she was, made a speedy rush to the back of the store. I could hear her talking to my husband and sons so I assumed that she was just making small talk. As I was deciding what to get, my husband comes to the front of the store and orders us out. I was so confused but assumed that something was going on. We exited the store and the lady ran out the other door looking at us then went back in. When we were outside my husband began explaining what was happening. The lady followed the boys around the store, hovered over them and when the eldest showed interest in an item she reprimanded him telling him that it was for girls and not for him. It became obvious to my husband that she either thought his kids were going to steal or she just did not want us in her store. Another possibility was that she thought we were a crew of robbers who pose as an interracial family of five who spend Sunday afternoon trying to steal trinkets from little old ladies in Carlsbad. It may be hard to imagine for some but on a beautiful sunny California day in a touristy area nestled close to the beach you can find a little old lady surrounded by beautiful things yet trapped by the ignorance of prejudice and hate consciously and unconsciously poisoning the unsuspecting customers experience. My tip stay away unless of course you endorse this sort of thing. read more

I'm a senior and have witnessed the lack of any greeting, the awful treatment of anyone that they think looks "suspicious". The merchandise hardly changes. This shop is in desperate need of a business consultant and interior designer. The location is prime as a tourist hotspot, but the shop itself is: - Far too eclectic - Severely lacking in customer service. It was actually uncomfortable for myself and my friends when conversing with an associate at checkout and no one approaches or greets you. - Too nostalgic and out of touch with modern consumer interests. On a side note, we decided to buy some of the chocolate truffles and they were AWFUL and clearly no where near fresh by any means. Just a terrible experience overall and I would personally STRONGLY recommend hiring a business consultant asap. read more

They have the most unique selection of gorgeous jewelry that I have ever seen. I bought several pieces for myself, and two for gifts. It's a huge store and the huge variety of unique items was a blast to browse through and I can't wait to go back for my Christmas shopping. They also gift wrap your items. Sweet. Apothecary, Wine related gifts, "AMAZING JEWELRY', way too many interesting things to list here. I don't know why I didn't know of this great store sooner. If you are going to Carlsbad CA, or even if you are not, GO THERE just to see this store, make it a destination. Linda's Gifts is a Hallmarkesq store that seems to be endless. I believe it is spread out over four stores that are connected together. I think Linda likes to shop. You'll find the typical nick knack, card, doll or other collectible that your aunt or grandmother would appreciate. Conventional chochcas (how do you spell that?) nicely displayed and always sold with a smile. They stay open late especially during the holidays. Whenever my parents are in town, I bring them to this little mall because my mom loves shopping here. However, we will not be back. Ever. The ladies are rude, grumpy and completely unhelpful. Most recently, they were moving a stool throughout the store and hit not only my dad in the back, but also my mother who has bad knees. Didn't even say a word. Ladies, if you hate working with people so much, you should check into the retirement community right down the street. You've lost 3 faithful customers. Me and my fiancé went inside to look, she said she has been there before and they had a bunch of cute things. The owner followed us through the store and told her employees to watch us saying we look suspicious. I am a 21 year old male with a 21 year old female who was just looking for something to get my mom. I was not running around the store nor was I horse-playing. We were walking around as adults looking at items and the manager was being very rude and told us not to touch anything and followed us around. She told her co-workers "watch those kids" and when I confronted them the co-worker says it happens all the time. I am a good person with a solid job and life. Came in today on a vacation day to see what gifts I could find for the holidays, was barely in the door and an employee older woman, moved past my friend saying excuse me(rude tone), then came from around counter and my friend had to move out of her way again, and the woman yelled across the store, "I'm busy, I'm busy moving people around," as she walked around my friend. A quaint gift shop in the Carlsbad Village. Linda's has just about every conceivable and inconceivable for that matter, little trinket, doo-dad, knick-knack, Christmas ornament, decoration, greeting card, etc. Our friend's sunglasses suddenly broke so we stopped into Linda's. Guess what? They carry sunglasses too. Would you like some home-harvested honey? Home-made jam or jelly? Linda's has that also. I even found some Stone Brewing Arrogant Bastard IPA hot sauce. Linda's also doubles as a U.S. Post Office shipping point. If you're a tourist and want to ship that souvenir home, they'll wrap it up, box it up and ship it for you right there. They'll gift wrap that gift too! Their knick-knacks can get a little pricey, but I guess that is to be expected at a touristy shop. Becky told me that we have to go back when "we have money to burn". Item arrived late despite guaranteed Saturday delivery and they blamed it on the Covid pandemic. What they didn't mention was that they sent the package late. They sent the package to the post office at 5:02 pm, the day after my payment was received. ( I purchased another item from another seller online and it arrived on Saturday because it was sent to the postal on time) They then message me stating I should have refused the package if I didn't want it. I'm sorry I work 12 hours shifts saving patients from covid. I am disappointed with their excuse on why the item arrived late and the impolite message. I love Linda's Gifts. They have such a wonderful selection of gifts for everyone. The are also so very gracious and offer free wrapping. I was at their store yesterday buying Christmas gifts for my mother and sister. I was looking at candles and got fumble fingers and dropped a $30 candle on the floor and it broke!! I said that I would definitely pay for it. I felt so awful, but the lady who saw me break it said that she would not charge me for it and she swept up the mess. She also helped me find the right fragranced candle. She was very warm and kind to me. She also walked me over to the other side of the store to help me have them wrapped.
