Heard a lot about this place and Korean food is a fairly new experience for me. The ambience and decor is great. It is modern, but doesn't take away from the vibe. These are single serve items, but you can grab extra plates to share which we did. The bowls are a nice large portion and I really enjoyed the clear broth soup that came with it. We got the beef mongolian, spicy thai chicken, short ribs and teriyaki chicken. I enjoyed every single dish. The short ribs were a little too sweet, but I am assuming that is how it is supposed to be. The best was the dessert. We all loved loved the dessert. Best part was they had made an extra on accident so they gave it to us on the house. We got the creme brulee toast. Soooo delicious! I would come here just for this alone. The staff was helpful and most were friendly. They serve the food and clean up, however other stuff you do on your own. I think that is the only reason I am taking a star off is that they seemed to assume you know how things go there. It was our first time so we didn't know how it works. You basically grab menus yourself, seat yourself and go up to make your order. Grab plates, utensils and napkins yourself and your drinks too. This is completely fine with us, it is a working system they have, but we just had to keep asking and the responses we got seemed as if we were supposed to already know this and they sounded annoyed when responding. The food comes out as they finish so you might get your bowl before your appetizers like we did. Ambience is nice and the food is delicious. I've only been here twice so I've only tried the hibachi fried rice, Japanese curry, and the dessert toast. The curry is solid, the chicken is really crispy and the curry is milky, smooth, and flavorful. The hibachi fried rice wasn't the best as it was overly sweet, not inedible but not great. The toast was filling but not heavy, it tasted buttery and the ice cream paired really well. Aside from taste, the presentation of all the food looked amazing, everything looked so cute. Stopped in after shopping at the nearby lacrosse store. The young guy there recommended Wave Bowl as his area favorite. So glad we took his advice. First, this is not fast food. There is something decidedly better to the flavors and presentation. Second, the food is very good. I had the spicy basil bowl. It had minced chicken, onions and rice. Came out piping hot in a thick black bowl. Extra points for presentation alone. The dish was topped with a sunny side up egg. Normally, I'm not a big egg eater but I took the plunge and really enjoyed it. My son had a teriyaki chicken bowl with a side of noodles. He is normally only a burger eater so I was waiting for the complaints. But he wolfed it down and cleaned the bowl. The lunch started with a complimentary bowl of miso style soup which was also good. I think the hype for this place is because it's Halal. Now my bigger pet peeve was that it is a Pei Wei style restaurant, meaning you order your food at the register, you wait for a server to bring it to you and you self serve on drinks and everything else, yet they charge you a 18% gratuity at the register when you are ordering!!!! I'm all for tipping our servers, but I think this is a ridiculous practice for a self service concept. First timer here and let me tell you how great the food tastes! I had the food to-go and it was definitely a treat! First we had tried the appetizer which was the Fresh Chicken Salad Rolls and it was divine! It has mushrooms, ground chicken, lettuce, carrots and a fresh herb! It came with a sauce which I would describe as a tangy salsa. It's worth a try if you are a fan of Fresh Rolls! Also, if I could suggest trying it without the dipping sauce and then with it. I've had authentic Korean Food before and although the Bulgogi doesn't have that flavor I'm used to, it's actually really delicious. Especially going from eating the Beef Bulgogi then eating Kimchee on the far right, after going for the rice it's game over! The fried tofu has a nice garlic flavor which is nice without the dipping sauce as well, but don't leave the sauce out. If you like your tofu saucy that is definitely something to dunk it in! Hibachi Fried Rice (chicken tenders was my option) was topped with an egg, although I don't like much of that seasoning on top, it was quiet good! I would say overall it was a great experience, great price and definitely will be back! I will be back for the honey toast desserts! Had an amazing experience here today. Service was awesome, food was even better. Started out with some Miso soup which tasted great. For an entree, I got the beef bulgogi bowl. It was so good and everything tasted fresh. For dessert, we got the tiramisu honey toast. The presentation was on point and it also tasted great. My wife usually gets the Cashew Chicken Bowl, and I've tried the Short Rib Bowl, Teriyaki Bowl, and Bulgogi Beef Bowl -- and feel all 3 of them are too sweet. I've also tried the Sukiyaki Chicken a few times but thought each time it was just average from a taste standpoint. Wave Bowl definitely delivered (not literally though -- we got takeout, lol). Since it was our first time, we each ordered a different type of bowl for more variety. We got four different signature lunch special bowls ($8.95 each): sweet & spicy Korean, teriyaki chicken, sukiyaki chicken, and Wave Racha. We were very pleased with the generous portions of meat, veggies, and rice. The veggies were fresh-tasting and we loved the crunchy texture it added. The meat was all pretty tender. Notes on each bowl: - The sweet&spicy bowl had ground-up/shredded chicken pieces, unlike the other bowls, which had bigger slices/chunks of meat. The Korean fried rice didn't add that much flavor, but overall it lived up to its sweet&spicy name. - The teriyaki chicken was quite sweet, but the chicken was good. - The sukiyaki chicken was slightly spicier than anticipated. It had lo mein noodles, which were interesting but not that flavorful. - The Wave Racha was a crowd favorite -- the chicken chunks were generous, with a decent spicy kick. A wide selection of food fare; from bento boxes to fried rice bowls and signature bowls and they have a big list of kids menu items where typically in some similar places will only offer 1-3 kids' meals so I already love that they have more to offer in that regard. We ordered Japanese Golden Curry, Spicy Korean Bowl and a Tiramisu Honey Toast. We ordered the lunch portions and honestly they were huge! Hubby and I could've shared an entree. I ordered the Creme Brule French toast. It's so yummy. The Creme Brule French toast actually reminds me of myself; a slightly hard exterior but soft and warm on the inside. The food came out fast and portions seemed appropriate. The flavors were what I expected. They have napkins, silverware, sauces, and free pandan water in a drink dispenser for self-service. It wasn't very busy as we went in on a Tuesday night but there was consistent business. It was my dad's birthday and they provide one of their dessert toasts as a birthday gift. ***You have to show your ID*** This was a full sized dessert with two scoops of ice cream. We were impressed! I was a little skeptical about this place at first, not gonna lie. However this place has far exceeded my expectations. For all my vegetarian friends, they don't have a lot of vegetarian options. I ordered the Korean bowl which comes with chicken or beef, and was able to sub it out for tofu instead (at no extra charge). The food was delicious!! Everything was very well seasoned, the portions were big, and overall, it was a very delicious meal. Also, be sure to try their dessert toasts!! We ordered the creme brûlée toast and it was incredible. The toast was soft and warm and the creme on top paired perfectly. It wasn't too sweet either!
