Our campsite was nice and we had a nice view of Bear Lake. The main restrooms were cleaned constantly throughout the day and were well stocked. There's a nice big playground in the middle of the campground that my niece just loved. There were a lot of families there and I get the sense that this could be a place where people just love to come; it certainly seemed that way based off how many people had seasonal sites super decked out. The cons: The sites are all identified with their numbers, but I think they could be a little more clear. Both myself and my in-laws accidently set up in the wrong sites because of the way that we were instructed to drive in; the identification markers were after where our site was. So we had to be one spot over from where we were, but we actually both accidently set up in the sites just after where we should have been. It really wasn't a big deal and clearly it was our own fault, but it could have been more clear. We were excited to maybe play on the mini-golf course, but there was a lot of debris on the greens and the grass all around it really needed to be cut. The decorations around the grounds too look like they could use some TLC. We checked out the (tiny, super tiny) sandy beach area and thought it could have been cleaned up a bit. We went down right away one morning and found garbage on the ground & random dirty beach towels where towels don't belong. Later in the afternoon when we went back down there to see what was going on we saw the same pieces of garbage and towels in the same spots. We thought surely by then someone from the staff would have come cleaned it up. We were looking forward to getting in the water and possibly renting some of the water equipment they had at the campground (which would have been so nice), but we heard from several people there was swimmers itch in the water. What a letdown! Not the campgrounds fault at all, but our experience was less than what it could have been. I think this place has potential to be really fantastic, just needs a little more TLC.

Perch was SUPER fishy, my curly fries were undercooked and cold, and my 4 piece chicken consisted of one thigh, and 3 legs. As a female, I never eat all the protein given to me at a meal, and I was left hungry, and not for the cold curly fries I was given. She didn't ask us for another cocktail. I was sitting for 20 minutes without water or a cocktail. She brings us our meal and before we can say we'd like another drink, she walks away. 20 minutes pass, she comes over with the check. I said, we would like another round of drinks... and she rolled her eyes at us. She had to recalculate the bill. She asked my husband what he wanted, asked if he wanted a double, he said yes. I also ordered and wanted a double. They bring us our drinks, not what we ordered, at all, either of us, and they were singles. ...ok... whatever. Got our check. ... We said sure. After 20 minutes with only 2 other tables occupied, our food came, no soup. I said we don't want soup for dessert. The potato pancakes were black and never should have been served. The old recipe for our baked haddock was something they shouldn't mess with. Dousing the haddock in paprika does not win us over. The old fashions leave much to be desired. Not only can you bring a tent ((make sure you bring a tarp to put over it, so you won't get wet when it rains out)), but you can rent a cabin, or keep your camper there, which my step grandparents had, but we always used a tent. There is a pond in the middle of the grounds to go swimming in, and a channel to keep your boat in; make sure to take a nice cruse around the lake and try some of the local restaurants and bars. There is a bathroom/shower building that's very nice and the showers are nice and roomy as well. We always had an awesome time and would stay up long talking with friends and enjoying each other's company around a nice warm fire. We made a lot of great friends here, but I will always remember Big Al and how friendly him and his wife were. It seems like anyone who goes there knows who they are. Dogs are welcome! I mentioned the owner, Ron, is a really awesome and friendly guy! One year, he called my dad several days before our trip to tell us that the campsite had flooded due to a lot of rainy weather that they had. It was nice of hi to warn us in advance before we ended up driving up there only to have to turn back around. And, another time, he let us stay the night in a cabin for free when my dad's truck decided to die on us right after we packed up; Big Al and his wife even offered us some of their food to hold us over until we could head back home. The cabin was very nice and has a kitchen, two beds and a bathroom.

From booking to pulling out, this was a mess. After booking over the phone months ago & asking for…read morean email receipt, my husband called back multiple times to confirm reservation for the site and specific total. We never received any email confirmation of any kind, but were told each time over the phone which site number we had as well as the balance. Upon our arrival, the registration personnel gave us a different site and charged us an additional amount. When we asked what changed in the last three days since our last call, she said we were wrong and that we owe money. No courtesy, no budging. Ok - we let it go, just paid the balance and went on to park and try to have some family fun. At our campsite, which was next to a small pond, it was near impossible to park our camper in our assigned spot without dropping in to said pond. My husband is an experienced driver & machinery operator so he is no stranger to backing trailers into tight spots, but getting around the oddly placed pond in the middle of the road and avoiding the other campers and trees was difficult enough that we ended up driving through the field to get to our spot. We felt bad doing it, but didn't see any safer options. It rained a ton, which is obviously not the fault of the campground, but the whole campsite & field surrounding us was a complete SWAMP & mosquito heaven. I would hope that when it is dry out that the west field is not a swamp, but I almost kind of doubt it. For amenities, the shower house had absolutely no lights on the outside and it is super dark at night, so make sure you have a flashlight. I understand that you don't want to attract insects to the buildings, but it was a bit dangerous to walk up and down slippery stairs in the pitch black dark. The pool/water slide had the weirdest hours (Covid & understaffing?), but was also not available due to weather (again, weather not being the campground's fault, but just unfortunate). There were some redemptions: The laundry machines were reasonable ($1.00 to wash or fry) and they worked well. With 3 boys on bikes and a rainy weekend, this was very handy. lol There was a good band on Saturday night that was fun. Upon checkout on Sunday, the registration person (different from check in person) was very kind and refunded our overcharged balance. She explained there was probably a change in rates since we initially booked, and the computer must have adjusted. Unfortunately, the cons (and the already waaaay too expensive rates) outweigh the pros and we will definitely not be going back.
