Everything was cooked perfectly. But the steak, that was hands down the best part; high quality cut of meat that lived up to the thick cut menu description, seasoned and cooked perfectly with almost no fat. The steak came with caramelized sautéed mushrooms and onions that were a wonderful compliment. The asparagus was nicely grilled with great flavor and a good crunch, something that I loved because I hate mushy over cooked asparagus. The baby red potatoes were also perfectly cooked and seasoned. I have an extremely high appreciation for the culinary industry and the art that goes in to quality food, and the meal I had here today clearly presented the strong passion of the Chef who prepared it. The Rome/Nekoosa area just 40 miles North of the Dells is getting worldwide acclaim as a golf destination. Even the local airport has had to lengthen runways and increase fuel storage to accommodate the increasing number of private jets flying in. Sand Valley is the biggest draw with currently 5 courses on site and ever expanding. If you have a few million dollars casually lying around there are homesites available at Sand Valley. There is also Northern Bay, The Ridges, Bullseye and more within a short ride. When visiting and playing the courses be kind to your fellow golfers and follow the rules of the course you're playing on. Some may require replacing the divot you hit out that may have traveled further than your golf ball, others require not replacing the divot but sprinkling the provided grass seed into the newly minted divot. One final tip, please use the provided restrooms located on the courses. Some of us live on the courses and don't enjoy the view of golfers walking into the woods, relieving themselves and ultimately showing off their shortcomings.

Therefore, we had to golf twilight because there were no earlier openings. We played the Pines starting at 4:45 pm and we were able to get 15 holes in before it got dark. It was just me and my husband, so we were able to play fast. I must say that this one stands out as the best I've played at so far - so pretty. What truly impressed me was the impeccable maintenance of the greens. They were like putting on velvet - smooth, consistent, and a true test of my putting skills. The fairways were impressive. They provided a perfect surface for my shots, and the layout of the course was challenging yet fun. I found myself thoroughly enjoying the variety of holes. There was cart service available and ball marker collectible - bonus! With its well-maintained greens, lovely fairways, appealing layout, and friendly staff, it's certainly worth a visit.

The staff is really friendly. I always like talking to the owner when sitting at the club house. He always has some stories to tell. You can't bring coolers, but they have plenty of coolers that you can fill up with beer and soda. I'm excited that they now have Spotted Cow in a can! It's rarely busy here, which is nice if you are newer and don't like being rushed by other golfers. There's a good number of Par 3 holes that are not too difficult. The rest of the holes are over 300 yards and are good for getting out your driver and swinging the crap out of that ball. The greens though can be tricky....hills...THOSE DAMN HILLS! I always enjoy playing on this course and will keep coming for years to come.

Our campsite was nice and we had a nice view of Bear Lake. The main restrooms were cleaned constantly throughout the day and were well stocked. There's a nice big playground in the middle of the campground that my niece just loved. There were a lot of families there and I get the sense that this could be a place where people just love to come; it certainly seemed that way based off how many people had seasonal sites super decked out. The cons: The sites are all identified with their numbers, but I think they could be a little more clear. Both myself and my in-laws accidently set up in the wrong sites because of the way that we were instructed to drive in; the identification markers were after where our site was. So we had to be one spot over from where we were, but we actually both accidently set up in the sites just after where we should have been. It really wasn't a big deal and clearly it was our own fault, but it could have been more clear. We were excited to maybe play on the mini-golf course, but there was a lot of debris on the greens and the grass all around it really needed to be cut. The decorations around the grounds too look like they could use some TLC. We checked out the (tiny, super tiny) sandy beach area and thought it could have been cleaned up a bit. We went down right away one morning and found garbage on the ground & random dirty beach towels where towels don't belong. Later in the afternoon when we went back down there to see what was going on we saw the same pieces of garbage and towels in the same spots. We thought surely by then someone from the staff would have come cleaned it up. We were looking forward to getting in the water and possibly renting some of the water equipment they had at the campground (which would have been so nice), but we heard from several people there was swimmers itch in the water. What a letdown! Not the campgrounds fault at all, but our experience was less than what it could have been. I think this place has potential to be really fantastic, just needs a little more TLC.

Overall it's a nice campground. However do not expect to bring your drinks and snacks to the beach…read morefor a beach day. Not only will you need to buy to stock your camper for your stay you are also EXPECTED to buy drinks/food from the bar/camp store/tiki bar.
