Waupaca Camping Park - A wild boar going for an evening stroll

Waupaca Camping Park

Their name changed to S'more Fun Campground. I like this place because of the cabins they have to…read morerent. It's not really my camp style to be packed into the woods on top of eachother. Being an earshot away of any conversation your neighbors might have. I like my privacy. The cabins have all the luxurious of home minis running water. There is an AC unit, small fridge and even a microwave. A perfect way to throw some clothes and a some pillows into the car and go. This campground like many is geared toward families. There is a nice pool, games and climby things for all the littles. I was disappointed to learn that they planned to have a movie night. Isn't that the point to camp? To get these kids away from screens? I was sad that I had to listen to the booming speakers going through the camp for 2 hours so these kids could watch this movie. It was a complete distraction to the peace and quiet I was looking for. The prices of the cabins are kind of a lot at over $100 per night but they have 1 queen bed and a set of bunks. I would return but would prefer to come during the non peak time.

Very nice camping park with easy access to Waupaca and the Chain 'O Lakes. We had spots 7,9,11,13…read moreright up against Old Taylor Lake. It was clean and spacious with great views of the lake. Some other spots were nowhere near as spacious, so it depends on what you are looking for and what type of camping equipment you are bringing (rv or tent). The clubhouse was very nice and clean, with great shower and bathroom facilities. The electric at our spots were 20 amp, so it caused us a bit of an issue running A/C, fridge and an electric griddle. It is my understanding that some of the sites have 30 amp service, but not ours. Prices were very reasonable.

I came here for the first time with my extended family last weekend and have really mixed feelings…read moreabout our stay. The good: staff was friendly and helpful. Prices are competitive. Our campsite was nice and we had a nice view of Bear Lake. The main restrooms were cleaned constantly throughout the day and were well stocked. There's a nice big playground in the middle of the campground that my niece just loved. There were a lot of families there and I get the sense that this could be a place where people just love to come; it certainly seemed that way based off how many people had seasonal sites super decked out. The cons: The sites are all identified with their numbers, but I think they could be a little more clear. Both myself and my in-laws accidently set up in the wrong sites because of the way that we were instructed to drive in; the identification markers were after where our site was. So we had to be one spot over from where we were, but we actually both accidently set up in the sites just after where we should have been. It really wasn't a big deal and clearly it was our own fault, but it could have been more clear. We were excited to maybe play on the mini-golf course, but there was a lot of debris on the greens and the grass all around it really needed to be cut. The decorations around the grounds too look like they could use some TLC. We checked out the (tiny, super tiny) sandy beach area and thought it could have been cleaned up a bit. We went down right away one morning and found garbage on the ground & random dirty beach towels where towels don't belong. Later in the afternoon when we went back down there to see what was going on we saw the same pieces of garbage and towels in the same spots. We thought surely by then someone from the staff would have come cleaned it up. We were looking forward to getting in the water and possibly renting some of the water equipment they had at the campground (which would have been so nice), but we heard from several people there was swimmers itch in the water. What a letdown! Not the campgrounds fault at all, but our experience was less than what it could have been. I think this place has potential to be really fantastic, just needs a little more TLC.

Overall it's a nice campground. However do not expect to bring your drinks and snacks to the beach…read morefor a beach day. Not only will you need to buy to stock your camper for your stay you are also EXPECTED to buy drinks/food from the bar/camp store/tiki bar. So whatever you plan on having for a budget double it or don't go swimming and enjoy your day. Coolers, drinks, food, ect not allowed unless purchased from the campground themselves. $8 for a cheeseburger and $65/night for camping.

I have supported this restaurant for a number of years and it hurts to see it go down the tubes…read more Tonight was the last straw. We ordered and soup was offered for an additional dollar. We said sure. After 20 minutes with only 2 other tables occupied, our food came, no soup. I said we don't want soup for dessert. The potato pancakes were black and never should have been served. The old recipe for our baked haddock was something they shouldn't mess with. Dousing the haddock in paprika does not win us over. The old fashions leave much to be desired. So sad to see what's going on. We've really been supportive up until tonight..prices have gone up and sadly all else has gone down.

Honestly, we were excited about this place. My coworkers had talked about this place for a long…read moretime before we made it to the restaurant. We ordered 2 brandy old fashioned drinks, excellent. Then seated at a table. Renee was our waitress. Horrible. Didn't say hi, didn't offer to get another cocktail as ours were 1/4 full. Came back 45 second later to order, had no idea what to order so we made a decision fast, not even reading the entire menu. We later wished we ordered differently as we didn't see the whole menu. Perch was SUPER fishy, my curly fries were undercooked and cold, and my 4 piece chicken consisted of one thigh, and 3 legs. As a female, I never eat all the protein given to me at a meal, and I was left hungry, and not for the cold curly fries I was given. She didn't ask us for another cocktail. I was sitting for 20 minutes without water or a cocktail. She brings us our meal and before we can say we'd like another drink, she walks away. 20 minutes pass, she comes over with the check. I said, we would like another round of drinks... and she rolled her eyes at us. She had to recalculate the bill. She asked my husband what he wanted, asked if he wanted a double, he said yes. I also ordered and wanted a double. They bring us our drinks, not what we ordered, at all, either of us, and they were singles. ...ok... whatever. Got our check. ... Went to the bar, ordered what we did before and got different tasting drinks.... I'm honestly disappointed. This place was highly rated and we had such a bad experience. We live 10 min away and don't know if we will be coming back.
