The only disheartening thing was they really hesitated about moving our TV stand because it has glass shelves and is fragile. They didn't say "no" but just kept saying it's fragile and what do we want to do about it, and we were so stressed from the move we just said to not worry about it and we'd figure it out... Went to great lengths and expense coordinating pickup with another party and Tavares. As the pickup/drop off date got closer I hadn't heard anything from Tavares. I began to send messages through yelp, via text, then finally called leaving multiple voicemails. I have not received a response after 3 days contacting them. On my first call, the phone rang like normal. After that every time I called it went straight to voicemail, I believe they blocked my number. If you changed your mind or something came up and you can no longer do a job, just let your customer know. Don't leave them in the dark and block their number.

We had a good experience with Central Coast Movers! They helped us move from Monterey all the way…read morenorth to Humboldt for ~$4,750. They came over to look at our apartment and give us an exact estimate a few months ahead of time. The estimate was a one-line email with just one number and no breakdown of cost or details of any kind, which made me uneasy, but that number really did cover everything, including tax. Many people helped move us (7+ in total, I think) and the people that loaded were different from those who unloaded, so we should have tipped every person individually in cash instead of waiting until the end. Also to note: keep your checkbook or wads of cash handy, because there is a 3% fee to use credit card. That really adds up on a big move! I was not able to get all of my questions completely answered via email (some details were missing), but I was able to phone and get clarification on things easily. x25 large moving boxes were provided for free - I had to ask for them a few times, but we got them fine in the end, delivered right to our doorstep. Central Coast Movers also provides wardrobe boxes for all your hanging clothes, and they load all the clothing from your closets for you, which is so convenient. Our loading day was delayed 1 day due to extremely bad weather, but everything turned out well in the end. They kept me updated on arrival times and stayed in communication during the move. They protected our carpets with long cloths on the ground and nothing of ours was lost or damaged. I can recommend them!
