I'm going to be honest. The good: I love the atmosphere and the layout and how lovely it is to visit for the visuals. What a relaxing place. Not sure if it would be as nice in the summer when it's scorching hot and there isn't much shaded areas. The not so good: Before I visited I read the reviews. I see numerous of reviews on Yelp and on Google saying that it's pricy (I concur after my visit) but the response from waterwise is always the same where they state that they are priced competitively. That's not true at all. It's because of their untruthful response that led me to write this review after my visit. They should have said something like we try our best to give the best price we could "personally" offer and etc. Maybe they're priced well in comparison to some nurseries such as moon but truthfully if you spend the time to compare prices, you'll find them in the higher tier for a good number of their plants. I visit numerous of nurseries including Walter Anderson, Mission Hills, and Armstrong regularly; also I go to Home Depot and Lowe almost all the time. Many of the succulents, agaves, mangaves, etc can be found for better deals if you take the time to scope around. If you're a professional landscaper and don't care about budgeting, it's convenient to come here and grab a bunch of things all in one area. It's like Costco but without the wholesale price. But if you're a regular person who gardens as a hobby, esp a beginner, I recommend Home Depot/Lowe (esp because of the generous one year return policy for frail/dead plants) and slowly work your way to different nurseries that gives you better for the bang of your buck. You can even find Facebook groups that sells plants and succulents and you can find phenomenal deals for the same plants. It's about patience and doing research. If you care about saving money, then spend some time investigating. Don't have to believe my words, do your own personal research haha Also I'm introverted so I'm fine with people not really interacting with me too much but I'm sure most customers would like to be greeted and asked if they need help. My group and I was treated like invisible although there weren't too many customers at the time. I walked by a handful of employees throughout my time there and not a single acknowledgement lol I recommend visiting for the nice views and arrangements of plants but if you want to be frugal and save money, I recommend checking out several places before spending money here. Also call-in and ask for prices as well if you want to save the trip lol read more

This place is hidden gem! So they have a lot of different selections of flowers, plants, succulents, trees and etc. This place is so big and very well organized. Some part actually reminded me of "the flower field" in Carlsbad. This place is FREE - no admission fee necessary. I didn't find this information on any other posts so I just wanted to make sure you guys know! :) They have some ponds too and sorting places where you can just relax as well. We bought some succulents and got 20% off because they had thanksgiving sale. I saw many people actually got so many flowers and plants. I'm not sure if their price was competitive but the succulents were pretty cheap and pretty. There are so many artsy crafts too! Definitely worth the try when you are in the area! My family and I love going to Waterwise. Very friendly and helpful staff and it's such a beautiful and peaceful place to go. My daughters love the pond, picnic tables, and roaming around looking at all the beautiful plants and flowers. What a great place to come and purchase beautiful succulents and all types of great indoor outdoor plants. It has a lot of everything you need to beautify your dwelling inside and out. The staff are super helpful with questions you might have which is great since Iam more of a brown thumb than a green thumb. Larger retail nursery off of I-15 between Temecula and Escondido. The plants here are sizeable with most in 5 gallon and up sizes with a specialization in drought-tolerant plants like aloes, agaves, and succulents. I found the prices to be about 50% higher than comparable nurseries. You can sign up for the mailing list to get the latest plants on sale. I've been on the list for over a year and have yet to see anything that was of interest for a good price. read more

We go all the time -- "Nina" review below is , if i may say, way off. The prices are tremendous for the size of the plant and the gallon of the pot -- and the staff because it is mostly wholesale, help if you go up to the check out house. This is acres of beauty -- why pay $ 20 bucks for Carlsbad Flower fields..... If you want a "deal", yes you have to hunt out the best ones because its not a Home Depot/Lowes where they are just a few of each. If you need a "guarantee" the plant will not die, then you are probably overwatering and rotting the roots. Get with the Bonsall program Nina, this is country living, and the majority of their business I assume from the trucks is shipping to the retail giants. Holy succulents!!! There are so many succulents it's hard to choose which ones to purchase.rows and rows of plants it's really cool! We too a midday trip here to explore the property and purchase some succulents. A wide variety from small to large to tall, you name it they got it! We brought our son, and took a stroller through the property. For the most part it's stroller friendly except when you get to the far end where it's just for looking it's a little more challenging but that was okay. All the succulents are lines up and grouped with each other , it's very organized. Little ponds on the back end of the property that have some places to sit and enjoy the scenery. There are flat bed wagons to use for your purchases. The reason why i am not giving 5 star is because the porta potties were completely full and not well maintained. Otherwise this is such a cool place to visit and hang out around! Lots of photo ops! read more

Last month we attended San Diego Horticultural Society class here, given by the General Manager of Waterwise Botanicals (Tom). Given that we just had all of our grass removed and have only native & succulent plants now, it was perfect timing. Tom was a treasure trove of helpful information. Of course part of the deal is that they hope you will buy some of their plants, but there was no pressure to do so. Tom mentioned that they offer plant lists based on geographic location. I filled out the contact form on their web site and received the list promptly with a friendly note from Tom. It's a bit inconvenient but a really cool place to look around and get ideas. read more

Wow, the best succulent/cacti nursery I've ever been to. I came for free succulent Saturday (I think it happens once a month), the free succulents were so much bigger than I was expecting. I had also signed up for a succulent wreath workshop. The workshop was only $80 and they supplied us with the moss rounds and so many nice cuttings. I'm so glad I made the 1 hour trek over here, there were so many beautiful succulents and cacti. They literally have a hill of succulents too, I've never seen so many. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! They have everything from 2" pots to very large specimen plants. They also have hard to find succulents like Pedilanthus Bracteus, aka Tall Slipper Plant. They have a really good selection of cactus and all things succulents, bromeliads, and pots. I was delighted to see a couple of Cast Iron plants tucked behind some taller plants in the shaded area as I've been wanting some to grow indoors. I knew that I'd see some eventually but sure didn't expect to see them in such a sunny hot locale. This is a great place to browse around as there are inviting pathways and even a pond! The workers are super friendly and helpful. Don't forget to wear a hat when it's sunny. Waterwise is easy to find; right off the 15 freeway. My suggestion for them would be to have the carts easier to find when you start shopping, like right near the entrances to the retail area, easier to spot after you park. read more

I used to love coming here. But last week was a sour experience. I picked up a couple of cacti and went to pay. The cashier asks me if I really want to buy one of the cactuses. I said "yes, why do you ask?" He answered, "because it's $65" I told him "no, the price on the sign says $33." To which he answers, "this cactus is a bit big, we are going to put it in a larger container and sell it for $65". I told him that there's a whole bunch of them that size, and they are in the area near the roses, not the "Not for sale" area. He didn't seem to care at all at selling it to me at the advertised price. He wanted to charge me more for more dirt!. Also, the selection this year is not like previous years. And the prices have gone up. Not really wholesale....there are loads of "real" wholesale nurseries in the Fallbrook area, who don't switch out their prices on a whim. You just lost a customer! read more

I first started coming with my friends for the free succulent Saturday's and now it's one of my favorite monthly outings! The free succulents you get are way bigger then I expected and the staff are super friendly and helpful with teaching you the best way to care for the plant (which if you're a plant killer like I am is amazing!) The grounds are so pretty and I love walking around seeing the different arrangements they have on display as inspiration. What started as free succulents quickly turned into my husband and I buying some extra (pictured) to start our own collection. The prices are great and the plants look lovely! read more

If I could give it a ZERO I would, however, I cannot. GO TO RICARDO'S NURSERY in Long Beach. It's HUGE and they have lots of plants and don't use chemicals for care. They also give 15% off your order if you are doing L2G program The operator of this facility taught a LAWN-2-GARDEN class that my husband and I attended in Long Beach. We were able to talk to him after the class and get some good ideas, info on plants, and were told to email or give a call if we need to but that we should drive down to see the place b/c it's great. I had no doubt that it was a nice nursery but it is extremely far for us so we wanted to send in our list of plants or call and ask if they had them and to give us a quote. I called 7 times and sent 2 emails. NO REPLY. They never pick up the phone or answer emails. So now they don't get a sale from me. I was ready to drop $2500K-$3500 so it's their loss. I also left a message on my last phone call that I will YELP! my experience for the consistency in poor customer communication. Guess they didn't care. PROS: -Operator is very knowledgable about plants, watering, placement, dirt, etc. -Large nursery with huge selection of succulents (from what I was told) CONS: -Way to far to travel from Long Beach just to check it out -No call backs -No returned emails -No contact no matter what day of the week or time within their operating hours. Apparently getting a hold of someone will not be possible on any level, not even smoke signals so goooooooood luck with that. read more

You'll find inspiration in the gardens and paths, and get excited about all the drought-tolerant options available. It's a nice easy place to walk through with the sprawling loop that just keeps offering more discoveries. I've found so many plants to buy here, and find it to be nearly complete from the ground up from compact plants to shrubs and cactus. The colors, the flowers, it's all beautiful stuff that takes little to no care, and loves our weather. I've been back many times and still really appreciate the variety and selection of succulents, the open grounds, the feel of the gardens, and the jovial staff. Their prices are almost always lower than others for all their plants, including shrubs and succulents. Occasionally I've found a better deal at the wholesale nursery across the road and some smaller succulent options at the boutique nursery in North Escondido, but only a precious few. Their tree selection is not the best, but again, that's the time to head across the road. This is THE place to start for any major project or even just an afternoon walk. Good info, good help, good prices, and bigger and better plants than the box stores or any other competitors, and a whole lot more inspiration too. read more

My family and I were nursery hopping today. We are visiting from the San Francisco Bay Area, and it seems like every nursery we saw before this one just warmed us up for this one. We love succulents, and found this place so incredible! I loved seeing the succulents planted in the ground so we can see what it would look like when they are established. I loved all the landscape ideas. It reminded me of the demo rooms in IKEA. We were just sad that we didn't have enough room in the car to buy the larger gallon size plants. I totally envy the locals who have this place available to them all the time. :) read more

Free succulents every first Saturday of the month but until 1 pm only. They have at least 4 different kinds in a 3-4 inch pots. The staffs are friendly and can offer help on how to take care of your succulents. At the back of the shed are a collection of on sale succulents, pick carefully. Just killed my black prince and one more is dying, I think I over water them. Learned my lesson but it's ok since they are both on sale. Jackpot on the last ones I bought, I separated them into 3 pots. read more
