I'm riding the fence on this place. The food was awesome, after a very, very, very long wait. The problem? Only two employees. One woman who barely speaks English servicing all the tables, getting drinks, tending to take out customers and clearing tables. A second woman cooking. You can imagine how long of a wait to get your food with a full restaurant. My wife and I waited an hour and forty five minutes before we saw food. Rim Nahm is truly a hidden gem in Rhode Island. Providence is a foodie paradise, and it is very easy not to wander outside its borders--but wander into Rim Nam and you will not be disappointed. My favorites include the Panang Curry, Salmon Panang, and Green Curry, but I have been eating my way through the entire menu for years to find new favorites and I have yet to be disappointed. If you require a posh setting with valet parking, this is not your restaurant. Rim Nahm has become a regular on our Friday night rotation. There are normally four of us us and in the 2 years or more we've been dining here we've yet to have a bad meal. Having traveled extensively, I can say this is some of the best Thai food 'Ive had outside of Thailand. The owner always greets us with a smile, the place is small, so can fill up, but the wait has never been long. Normally one waitress handles the whole restaurant, so if it's busy, you may wait a little bit for service, but considering every dish is prepared from scratch, I feel the food come out pretty quickly. It'd definitely worth any wait you may have. I've tried quite a lot of the menu and can vouch for it all so far, but I keep coming back to the chicken satay, and drunken noodles with chicken, extra spicy. That's right, they will cook almost any dish to your preferred spiciness level. All in all, we always look forward to dining at Rim Nahm, nice welcome, friendly service, great food at a reasonable price and BYOB, what more do you need. read more

I've been here twice. The first time was a definite five - the waitress was really friendly and there was a nice atmosphere. We shared drunken noodles, spring rolls and pad thai, all delicious. Tonight, the (different) waitress was friendly but very soft spoken and a little slow. We sat outside for the view, which was nice but a little smelly due to the river. There was only one other couple finishing up inside. We had chicken satay for a starter, the texture of the chicken was almost too soft, like processed meat. Then my pad thai was borderline repulsive - I'm not sure if the river smell was messing me up but I also think they used old oil. I kind of forced myself to eat it. My husband got the pork racha and that was just okay, the pork was pretty dry. So this experience brings it to a 3. I'm not sure I would go back. read more

I was a bit disappointed with the basil fried rice, it was not spicy at all, but the masiman curry was to die for. I am rating 4 based on the service and the food. The food here is consistently delicious and simple. It is also always quick. I have never even waited 15 minutes after ordering for my food to arrive at the table. There is plenty of indoor seating, generally better suited to groups under 6 people. If it weren't for the lackluster service, this would be 5 stars. However, I have been here a number of times were getting drinks and my check was quite slow, especially if other tables are present. Sometimes, they just need more than one waiter. read more

Definitely disappointed. Had the Tom Yam Kung (spicy shrimp soup) and Drunken noodles. Soup was dreadful, far too sweet, barely any shrimp and mostly tasted of diluted tomato soup, no lemongrass notes at all. Drunken noodles were bland and uninteresting. This is our go-to place for take out in the village. Fresh, good portions, nice flavors. They were totally overwhelmed the first year or so, but seemed to have figured that out by now. The satay is excellent, as is the nime chow. The ground chicken salad is great ... it has lime juice, red pepper flakes, red onions, lettuce and is that wonderful Thai combination of spicy, sweet, sour, etc. Curries are good, though I always feel the green curry is too watery, but tastes great. read more

What a great little hole in the wall! Party of four ate there recently, wanted to try it for some time. I was somewhat concerned as the reviews were sort of love it-hate it type. The food was really good. Tom Yam Seafood soup was exceptional. Excellent Fresh Spring Rolls and Crab Shumai. Entrees were very tasty. Service was attentive. We were given appropriate time to explore the menu and the food arrived quickly and hot. The place is small, but it wasn't crowded, so noise level was not at issue. And since it's BYOB, the tab was quite reasonable. We'll put Rim Nahm in our restaurant rotation. read more

Rim Nahm is a hidden gem located in picturesque Pawtuxet Village (a village shared by Cranston and Warwick). The restaurant is small but has wonderful views of the Pawtuxet River. Although I dined inside, I imagine that the outdoor patio would be wonderful in the spring and summer months. If you're in a rush, Rim Nahm is not for you. Each meal is lovingly prepared and made-to-order. I would strongly recommend the vegetarian pad thai, the vegetarian spring rolls (with chili paste), and the hot and sour soup. The Thai ice tea is sweet and refreshing but doesn't include tapioca "bubbles." My dining companion was quite pleased with the tofu with spicy bamboo. read more

I like Thai food and seek it out wherever I visit. I live in RI now and have been to most all the Thai restaurants that show up on a Google search. Rim Nahm is not close to the highway system, which is a disadvantage - but I did chase it down now a couple of times and consider it one of the better Thai choices in the area. My favorite thus far is mango fried rice, but what I do when I come is eat one entree there and take one to go. Rim Nahm is small and like so many Thai places a small staff - sometimes very friendly, sometimes more reserved. Whatever, the food IMHO is excellent. The backroom water view is a bonus also. Now that I know it I try to find errands to do such that I can do a side trip to eat. The hours are funky so check as I'm not sure they are doing lunch anymore - maybe only summer time, but you might call to check. read more

I have been there once and was disappointed. But a colleague recommended it again so I gave it another shot.. Both times extremely disappointed! It is OVERPRICED for unsatisfied food. Tom Yum soup has 2 shrimp in it and THAT IS IT!!! I order pad ira pow--it has 2 pieces of basil, LOTS of onions and carrots, 4 stripes of pepper and a few shrimp. IT doesn't even come with rice! Unfortunately, I went to grab my favorite dish of Pad Kra Poa and was very disappointed. I have had Pad Kra Pao at many other Thai establishments and I've never been disappointed in the past. THIS PLACE doesn't serve pad Kra pao which is minced pork, holy basil, peppers, onions, bed of rice on the side and sometimes a fried egg on top. There was no minced Pork, it was strips of pork, wasn't served with rice and the price was different from the websites pricing. Complete and utter failure delivering this classic dish. She brought out the wrong Check too, and if I didn't check it...I'd be out and extra $15/$20. The waitress was very nice (I'm pretty sure she also cooks and might even own the place) but it was a pretty crappy experience. Don't come here if you're looking for Pad Kra Pow at the very least or if you're expecting the price on their website to align with their current menu pricing. Major thumbs down. read more

I was in search of a craving, an urge to indulge in some Thai food. Upon careful consideration a decision was met between my wife, my son, and I on a place called "Rim Nahm". I personally had no idea what that name meant, it could have meant flame pit, but to me, I saw a Thai food sign and 'by the water' and I was willing to give it the upper hand, oooops. I am not a man to judge a book by its cover, but for this place I will have to give it a nice pat on the back for being located right by the bridge with a peaceful view of the water granting serenity before the disaster you are about to experience. It was almost a true grasp of a bi-polar moment, feeling the highest of highs, and then once receiving the service by the restaurant, the lowest of lows. Upon ordering from the menu I felt the shivers quiver up my arm that something was potentially very wrong, It was my natural instinct heeding a warning. We ordered wonton soup and a simple drunken noodle platter to split between my wife and I. We have a 3 year old, anyone who doesn't have one...parenting class on the house, they like to grab things that are potentially very dangerous. I am glad to say that our waitress, who must also work in a day care, took the proper precaution of super-nuking this soup and placing it directly in front of my son, Aidan. During the extreme battle of retrieving this ancient weapon of destruction I went to ask for some ice cubes to cool it down, I was met with a stare of complete disbelief. Our waitress, and quite possibly the owner of the establishment, had no idea what an ice cube was. To cut this matter short without fully indulging the drama, I merely pointed to a cup of water then the soup and said I don't want my son to get burned...suddenly the picture was as clear as a beautiful summer day. Sadly to my disappointment, my mind was far from clear. The drunken noodles were 90% onions which on account of being an avid reader, I was rather certain it was meant to be made primarily of flat egg noodles. They must not have been selling many onion dishes that week, because I had enough there to properly season the rest of the nights orders. When the time to ask for the check came, I am a firm believer of appreciating small blessings, the end of this meal, in short, was a miracle. Then I paused and looked closer at the bill...50 cent charge for....following my finger over...wait for it...ice cubes...? what? Really!? Apparently the discovery of this particular of this scientific boom pow carried with it a finders fee. Wonderful. Aside from the collapse I had to the sidewalk and minor convulsions, the rest of the night went peaceful without any memory of this tragic incident. I decided to interview very briefly a few patrons leaving this particular restaurant days later with simple questions of satisfaction. As a commenced answer I would place it as one that would sound like "It was tolerable and I think I will digest it okay, but I have no real intention of going back". All in all the atmosphere was nice, the scene of the water is beautiful on the right kind of night and with the right company, but for it to hold the strong reviews it has on the google search I attempted means only one thing to me...that many people after eating here simply feel too ill to write a proper honest review... read more

My wife and I were here for the fourth time in two years. Previously we thought the food was OK and we live nearby, so we went back rather than driving across town. This last time my wife had the PadThai and I had the Spicy Bamboo with pork. The vegetables were old and lacked flavor. There was no subtlety to the spices. The pork was old also. The prices and the portions are OK when compared to other restaurants in RI. If you get the corner table you get a view of the water. If you go there, definitely BYOB. read more

I have to say I was not impressed with this place. The food was average at best. I had a Salmon dish. The fish was overcooked, and the strong seasoning was obviously spiked with MSG and/or excessive sodium. I woke up at 5am severely dehydrated after eating here. Entrees were around $15 and I expected better quality and service. My waitress was quiet. The language barrier was severe and she was a bit impersonal, as if she was not happy to see me there. Rim Nahm is the best Thai restaurant in the Cranson-Warwick area. Friendly staff and consistently quality dishes. The Fire on the Mountain and Drunkin Noodle are excellent. If you like your Thai spicy, be sure to tell the waitress. We always order our dishes extra spicy and the chef never disappoints. read more
