We had a mixed experience living at the Victor for a little over a year and a half. In short, the…read morebuilding was a great place to live but we had to be consistently vigilant to not be overcharged by management. Pros: Excellent location, very close to transit, grocery stores, the North End, etc. Very friendly and helpful staff, including the concierges, maintenance staff, and leasing office staff Clean building and generally respectful neighbors. The building has very good insulation between units, we never heard any of our neighbors above, below, or to the sides. We could only ever hear sounds through the front door, which was never very loud at all. The unit had an excellent layout and good finishes. There was slight damage when we moved in (scratches on the floor, dents in the fridge), but we were able to record them and were not charged for the damage when we moved out. Excellent communal spaces, especially the roof deck with shared grills. It was also very nice that we could rent the communal spaces for a reasonable fee to host parties. Very convenient loading dock and freight elevator for moving in and out (can be reserved for free) Very responsive to maintenance requests. Easy to submit through the app and everything was followed up on within a day. Fun and varied resident events put on by the building Cons: If you choose to live here, you need to pay close attention to the bills they charge you because they are not always accurate and take some work to get corrected: While paying for the last month's rent, we were charged twice through the Bilt portal that we were required to pay through. Bilt refused to help resolve the issue, and it took 5 days for us to get our ~$4000 back. We had to reach out twice to get back a $200 deposit for renting a common space; we should not have had to ask at all. We were charged a bike storage fee after we had already turned in our bike storage key, even after getting written confirmation that the charge would not be made. We had to call again to get this charge removed. Maintenance was always super responsive to all tickets that we put in, but for a few recurring issues we put in tickets at least three times and they were never actually permanently fixed so we just gave up on putting in tickets. These issues were 1) the dryer did not vent steam and gave an error saying that the condenser tank was full, even though there was nothing in the tank; and 2) the built-in water dispenser in the fridge would stop working every week or two for about a day. With this issue, it is totally possible that it had temporarily resolved itself by the next morning when maintenance showed up. When we were in the process of re-signing our lease, we requested the interest on our security deposit, but were told that "security deposits don't gain interest here." Massachusetts law (Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 186 § 15B) requires that interest on a security deposit be paid to the tenant on the one year anniversary of the lease. The Victor has since replied to our review saying that they did in fact pay us the interest we were owed at the one year anniversary. They also did pay us interest on the deposit when we ended our lease early. It is unclear why we were told that they would not pay us interest on our deposit.

Small problems are always immediately addressed, fixed or solved. The maintenance team is by far the most exceptional group of hard working, friendly, happy and professional men. The average wait time for response is literally just hours. Your request for service is immediately acknowledged. Then the assigned team member, Mike, Jesus, Anthony...They make the friendly call, schedule for when it's convenient for you, then it's fixed. Simple as that. But not simply done. They always ask how we're doing. How are family is doing. Sincerely so. They're friends. Neighbors. There to help. Ask what else they can do for us. (We're two older women, mother & daughter and are always made to feel listened to and cared for, in a lovely maternal way) Then there's the office staff. Caitlin, Regan, Dave.... Regan and Dave took us through our 2021 renewal recently. They're just so fabulous- always honest, clear and professional . We are looking forward to 2021 Summer at the pool and enjoying the beautiful brand new clubhouse, technology center with super comfortable spaces and a NEW professional level gym!!! I can't wait to get onto the recumbent bicycle that is exactly what I had hoped would be added in the new equipment set up. The trees flowered so nicely this year. My one grump with the extensive landscaping is that they don't put iron nails under the hundreds of hydrangeas to bring out more colors! But there are always flowers. The waking paths are very well maintained. I use a rolling walker so the annual upkeep of the asphalt walk is very much appreciated. A really nice surprise this year was the upgraded gas grill areas. Now there are two grills, set into large cooking spaces. Thanks! Maybe next year we will see an overhaul of the dog park? There are dogs everywhere now. Owners are responsible with cleaning up for the most part and pups are leashed. The park is too small even for our little guys and it's on a slope making it difficult for dogs and owners alike. It's kept super clean by use of washable astro-turf. All in all its just a happy place to call home.

Beware!! My lease started less than a month ago and I am shocked at how Windsor manages their…read morecommunities. My experience at Windsor at Oak Grove has been incredibly disappointing. First, they did not clean the apartment before move in. There was food debris on the refrigerator shelves. The floors were extremely dirty. Huge spiderwebs in the windows. Dead bugs everywhere. Years worth of dust and dirt on surfaces. Then, I had to send daily emails for 2 weeks for it to be partly cleaned. They did not want to clean the piled up dust from surfaces before my furniture was moved in 2.5 weeks after my lease started. DO NOT EXPECT YOUR APARTMENT TO BE CLEANED PRIOR TO MOVE IN! Second, Windsor also did not provide all keys to all the tenants until multiple emails and visits to the leasing/management office over this 2 week period. Third, the apartment floors are not well constructed and you can hear everything the upstairs tenants are doing. Every step, every door opening. Everything. You can also hear your neighbors conversations at times. Last and Even more concerning, they assigned a parking space (on my lease and on my move in paperwork) that was already assigned to another resident. I have been paying for someone else's parking spot and they are unresponsive on providing me any paperwork on another assigned parking spot. Multiple phone calls and emails without a response. DO NOT EXPECT TO RECEIVE WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR. The only positives about living here so far: the maintenance team is amazing. Super responsive, effective, and friendly. Neighbors are very friendly. The location is incredibly beautiful and convenient. Extremely dog friendly. Apartments are large.

Terrible senior management - My car broke down overnight in the drop-off zone, and I immediately called and left multiple messages to inform them. Despite that, they towed my car without any warning. To make matters worse, the leasing office initially offered to help cover the towing bill but later backed out. There were no signs indicating the area was a tow zone. After two years of paying rent and being a responsible tenant, it was extremely frustrating to be treated this way at the end of my stay. 2. Cheap construction - extremely thin walls and ceilings with zero soundproofing from neighbors or city noise. 3. Constant maintenance issues - leaking pipes, broken floorboards, and frequent bug problems in the warmer months. 4. Unreliable elevators - at times completely out of service. 5. Outdated gym - a treadmill was broken for months without repair. 6. Disorganized package room - a chaotic mess with no real system. Time wasted digging through my neighbor's packages. 7. Inconsistent apartment temps - especially in winter, when heating settings couldn't be adjusted. 8. No sense of community - neighbors would speed dangerously through the drop-off zone. Pros: 1. Great location - close to downtown, which was very convenient. 2. Excellent maintenance staff - shoutout to Dario for always being helpful and responsive! 3. Nice rooftop - recently updated with new furniture and a great view. Final thoughts: While I appreciated the location and made great memories with my roommate and friends, I would never recommend Gatehouse to them. When the apartment I was taking was ready, Kaitlin assistant manager walked me through and took note of outstanding work that need to be done and made sure that was complete. Dario, Maintence manger is super friendly and welcoming and takes pride in the building and makes certain the residents are happy. He's very Responsive to work orders and couldn't be more helpful. We lived here for almost two and a half years from 2017-2019. It was a decent place to live,…read morethough we had many issues. I noticed that there were a lot of 5 star reviews. I'm glad most people had a good experience here, but I felt like I really needed to take the time to document my experience in detail for the Yelp community. It has been over 2 years since we lived there, so the property managers may have changed, but the mechanical issue likely still remains. First, the positives. It was really nice to be right off the bike path. It made it very family friendly and definitely felt very communal. We were walking distance to Davis Square, and it was a nice and beautiful walk along the bike path. The movie and community rooms were really nice. It has a pool table, full kitchen, multiple TV's, and a massive table. The room was definitely under-utilized as I hung out there quite often! The maintenance team was also amazing. Dick and Evan were very skilled, prompt, courteous, and professional! They definitely went above and beyond the call of duty. They live on-site, which made thing super convenient and their off-hours response time super quick. My biggest complaint is a design flaw with their HVAC and hot water system. They have a single device that heats both the hot water and the central air. The apartment has an instant hot water Navien boiler that also provides hot water to heat the air. It can only work on one of these at any given instance. So, at any given time, you have to choose to have either hot water or hot air. Being in Boston with sub freezing weather, this was not acceptable. If you take a 15 minute shower, the apartment would not be heated for the duration of that shower, so it would be freezing cold in the apartment. We were a corner unit, so the issue was likely worse in our unit than others. This was especially a problem in January/February when the temperatures dipped below 0. We had a 2 year old living there, so the temperature fluctuations was definitely a problem. We ended up having to get multiple space heaters, which proved expensive to operate. I escalated this complaint to the regional manager of Windsor communities, and they sent their regional maintenance person along with an outside plumber. They kept repeating that the system is operating normally, according to specifications (see attached letters). Never once did they recognize the design flaw in their HVAC system, or apologize for the way in which the "correctly working system" decreased our quality of life living there. The management company is not very helpful or friendly. There was high turnover (I think because it was such a stressful job), and when we had complaints, they would typically try to tell us why we were wrong or change the subject. I was disappointed to find out that the regional manager acted in the same way as the on-site property managers, which makes me think that avoiding concerns and issues by trying to explain them away is a company culture issue that comes from the top. Other issues we had: - Recurring pot smoking from a unit below us - Fire alarms randomly going off in the middle of the night (seemingly just in our unit) - Lack of guest parking spots - People parked in our assigned garage spot, and management not stepping in when the tow company did not come - Difficulty getting packages. If UPS delivered something to the front office, we would have to pick it up by the time the office closed, or remember to email them. This was inconvenient and I suggested they get a storage locker multiple times. - Constant construction nearby. This affected our water pressure multiple times. Thankfully we got out of there before the green line construction really started to take off.

Agents take days off (which is obv fine) but emails aren't monitored by the group, and phone calls aren't promptly returned. It feels like it's being run by a group of high school students. Overall, the apartment is nice but fyi the laundry machines are apartment size and the dryer cycle takes a minimum of 2 hrs which maintenance says is normal. The parking garage is convenient but not monitored. The walls are also thinner than our last apartment. We moved from The Alyx to save a little bit but now realize why The Alyx is more expensive. You get what you pay for! Better agents, nicer finishes, full size machines, and great concierge and parking attendants. Hope to move back there soon.

DO NOT RENT HERE. I…read moremoved into Vox on Two in mid-April 2025. Since then, it has been nothing but headaches and frustration. This is a poorly managed apartment community and your rent will simply be wasted money. To be specific, since we have moved in, we have dealt with the following issues: (1) Our HVAC unit was totally rusted out and the unit was hanging on by a single screw, ready to fall at any moment (see photo). We called maintenance and they assessed the issue, telling us it would take a month to fix. We told maintenance that we would like to be informed if there were any updates and that the maintenance team did NOT have permission to enter our apartment while we were gone. When we went on vacation, we were surprised to come home with holes in our walls (see photos) and paint/plaster all over our apartment. It appeared that maintenance did the work without informing us. Worse, they entered our apartment without informing us (which felt like a total violation of our privacy). Also, you don't expect your apartment to be a mess when you come home from a vacation, having to spend hours cleaning up the mess you never anticipated. Poor communication and a violation of our privacy. That's what we got out of this. It took a few weeks and several dozen emails and phone calls but the issue was fixed. We were left wondering: why didn't anyone at the property check the HVAC unit before we moved in, especially considering how bad of a condition it was in? And why was no one held accountable for entering our unit without our permission? (2) When we moved in, one of the three elevators in the building was not working. Over the course of two weeks, two out of three elevators were not working. For multiple days. Imagine trying to haul groceries to your fourth floor apartment when the amenities you pay for are not working. (3) "Guaranteed" parking is anything but guaranteed. We came home after another trip to find that someone had parked in our spot. Because it was a Saturday, there was no one on site to remove the car so that we could park. Keep in mind: we pay $200 a month to park in this spot. Someone was issued a guest parking pass for another spot (which someone ELSE took) so they decided to just take ours. Even though you pay for a spot, and even though there are parking rules, you can never be confident that you will be able to come home and park with ease. We had to park our car 15 minutes away and pay extra just to resolve the issue while we waited for Vox to figure out what happened. The shocking part: this all happened in SIX WEEKS. Do yourself a favor and find some other place to live. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. (Unless, that is, you want a new apartment/building issue to stress about every week.)

Cons: if your units face north, be prepared to invest in noise canceling headphones. The noise from traffic is CONSTANT. DAY AND NIGHT. There was not much I could do to dampen it. The water company that VOX uses seems a little shady with random charges. And VOX offers no assistance in this matter. The hallway often smells of smoke even though this is a non smoking building. Communication with the leasing office is hit and miss, depends on who picks up the phone. The lack of communication had led to a dispute I had with management regarding repainting the wall when I moved out. We went back and forth about what I needed to do to avoid a paint charge. I was told to prime the walls, which I did. The office came back with a $300 charge with my prime job, because it was not enough. So I wasted my time and effort when I would be charged either way, and this all could be avoided with better communication from the office.

The very few minor issues I have had with the apartment were addressed quickly by the awesome building maintenance team. Regarding location, you can't get more convenient than a 0.2 mile walk to Alewife T station. You've got the convenience of access to everything the city of Boston has to offer without having to pay rent and parking expenses in the city. There are great walking paths nearby that are great to use year round. Overall, it's working out very well for me. As is the case with every apartment, there are some of the usual quirks but so far nothing that I would say affects my comfort living here. There is quite a bit of construction around the building, but hasn't been an issue for me. Construction can't go on forever. I would challenge anyone to find an apartment in or around the city that doesn't have some kind of construction going on nearby. If you are considering moving to the area, I certainly recommend stopping by Hanover Alewife to check out the apartment, building amenities, location, and meet the super awesome leasing office staff!

Management ignored signs of a deceased resident for weeks. The body was only discovered after an…read moreoutside wellness check. A noxious, chemical odor now lingers in the hallway, seemingly used to mask the biohazard smell. There has been zero communication or reassurance from management about air quality, cleanup, or resident safety. On-site staff are incompetent and unprofessional, and upper off-site management is showing little sign of accountability, concern, or action despite resident complaints. I would not wish this experience upon anyone else.
