If I could give this a 10 star review, I would. WOW, I was very impressed by this facility. The vibes were immaculate, the sound bath, the projections on the walls, the lighting of the bathhouse was so calming and relaxing. The staff were very helpful in explaining everything, as this was my fiancé and my first time here. We booked the bath experience, which was the most basic but a great place to start. It included soaking in the large warm tub, steam room, and sauna, as well as the cold plunge. We left feeling so incredibly relaxed. We bought a bag of their tea as well because it was that delicious. The facilities were very clean! Weekend parking in the neighborhood is free and we were there late on Sunday, so plenty of spots! This is the perfect way to reset after a hard week. We will be back!!! read more

The massage itself was very lovely. I enjoyed my 90 minute reflexology massage with Michael. The bathhouse experience was nice overall! The warm water pool and sauna are definitely the highlights - so relaxing! If you're looking for a relaxing escape, this is it! They had a little relaxing room where you could go if you got too warm (it's very hot and hard to breathe in the main bathhouse area) which included an area to meditate and rest/nap. They do not allow any speaking, even whispering, so it's definitely not a spa environment to catch up in! I do think a few things could be altered to further improve the bathhouse experience, though! There's a very small hallway where all the lockers, changing rooms and bathrooms are, as well as the only place to come or go. It's very cramped and makes it hard to maneuver in or out. There are only two bathrooms in the bath house, and they also double as the showers which did impact the practicality of getting ready afterwards. Additionally, I would recommend improving the flow between massage and bathhouse since you have to carry all of the items you came in with down a set of stairs in a robe. With the word "spa" in the name, I expected a traditional spa experience where I was given a locker and a robe before my service rather than getting a massage right out of my street clothes. read more

Love visiting Watershed Spa! Book an appointment it gets full quick. It's peaceful the second you walk in the door very calm and quiet and smells amazing. You are offered to add a relaxation beverage to your bath experience and there is an area to purchase relaxation items. While you wait for your entry time there is tea and water and a nice waiting area. Once your time is to begin an attendant walks you down to remove your shoes and enter. There are lockers for everyone to store belongings including cell phones. You then go into the bath area there is a shower with exfoliating scrub, sauna, steam room, hot pool, cold plunge and rest area. You may repeat the cycle as many times during your time frame. You will be asked if you would like to tip the bath attendant's. This is place is a great spot I hope we see more pop up in the cities. read more

Why are there not more bathhouses in the Twin Cities?! This spot has got what we neeeed in the winter! Before Watershed opened, the best we could find was Anda Spa for a bathhouse style experience before a massage. Watershed takes the massage requirement out of a spa day, and offers a great bathhouse experience. This was my second visit, and I'm happy to see they've added even more to this experience. The cycle recommended is this: - shower/scrub (they offer complimentary soap and scrub salts) - steam room (my fave - feels unreal) - soak (gorgeous soaking pool that's the perfect warm temp) - sauna (the biggest sauna I've been in) - plunge (freeeeezing cold plunge but refreshing!) I love this cozy dark underground bathhouse - you instantly feel at peace when you arrive. They have lockers and changing rooms onsite, plus water & tea cups and stations. I also love the effort they've put into their relaxation room - since I first visited, I was happy to see they added 3 heating lounge chairs, more books, blankets and more lounge chairs, and even more vibey decor and lighting. We spend 2.5 hours here, the allotted time - and it was perfect. We got through two cycles with some relaxation room time in between. I wish the cold plunge was just a *touch* warmer - I know it's meant to be cold, but it actually hurts my feet to get in haha. At the end, we did a final scrub and shower, and used their complimentary body butter and my winter skin drank it in. I came here for my birthday with my best friend. It is a very nice spa. It was smaller than I expected but that's not a bad thing. It was very relaxing the main pool/hot tub is the perfect temperature and I could sit in there just staring at the images on the wall all day. The steam room was way too hot for me. I have enjoyed other steam rooms at different spas where they weren't as hot and the steam wasn't always pumping full blast like it was here. The sauna was roomy and very nice. The cold plunge was way too cold for me. It made my feet kind of hurt but did feel good once you were out. I like the addition of the salt scrub near the showers. There isn't a lot of seating in the main spa area although there is a relaxation room you can go into with warming lounge chairs, and delicious tea! For me it was really hard to be quiet and not chat with my friend. I've been to some spas where they allow chit chat and some that haven't. The changing rooms are nice and large and private. The spa store is also really cool! I bought some great gifts there!! read more

This spa was so relaxing! I went by myself as a treat and I walked out feeling so rejuvenated. I did the communal bath experience and it was great! The spa was cleaned and the attendants were so helpful and always checking the area and refilling the resources. They walk you through the process prior to starting and make sure you feel comfortable. You can add on other services like facials, scrubs, and massages, too. The bathing ritual experience was wonderful. The spa is dimly lit and relaxing. I appreciated the lotion, shampoos, and tea they provided. I also enjoy the relaxation area where you can hang and read one of many self help books they have. The sauna, soaking area, and steam room are clean and inviting. It never feels too crowded and the staff are friendly. I also like the store they have featuring many self care products . I do miss the individual cold plunge tins- please bring those back. I didn't like the communal cold plunge area. Too hard to get into "the zone" in a shared plunge area. They have a very small parking lot, but the good news is there is plenty of metered street parking for .50cents per hour. I will be back! read more

What a wonderful hidden-gem of a spa! I cam here since I received a gift card for a service, and I was in desperate need of a massage. There's plenty of parking during a week day on the street, it was easy to grab a meter and not too expensive. I could live in this place if I was allowed to! It truly feels like you're transported to a tropical paradise and fully relaxed. When I was checked in I was offered water or tea, and then could sit a bit in the waiting area. There's some merchandise around that you can take a look at if you wish. I received a massage from Stephanie, and was brought into a small room to change and consult. She asked if I had a specific spot I wanted to focus on and I said my low back. I was incredibly relaxed this whole massage, and it was definitely a big level up from something like a Hand and Stone chain massage. Stephanie even went above and beyond and (with permission) used her feed and bodyweight to get extra deep into my back! My only watch-out is if you have a sensitive neck, as them to skip that portion. My neck got a little sore from the intensity, but I forgot to mention it at the beginning. After my massage I was encouraged to hang around, have some water or tea and pull a tarot card - which is just my style! I took some time and saw that they sold great merchandise too. From the moment my friend and I walked in, we were both in awe of how beautiful and relaxing the space was. The front desk staff was friendly and gave us clear instructions on the next steps. There were some ups and downs. My massage was exceptional (and I've had a lot). My friend, (who is also experienced) said hers was lackluster. The pool experience was not great. It was oversold the day we were there. Too busy and the chairs were all taken. We had massages booked too and while others using the pools got robes and shoes they weren't going to give us ours until our massages. When we asked they gave us shoes only. The process for moving between the bath and massage was clunky. The area in the steam room where the steam comes out is right by the door and I got a steam burn on my ankle (which was still visible the next day) . I told the person I checked out with who was apologetic and that's as far as it went. I wanted to buy their signature butter but it was sold out. The ambience was really nice and it was quiet. Watershed is amazing and has become my favorite place for a holistic spa experience! I have visited the bathhouse a few times and have always had a great experience. Although it's a communal bathing experience, I've found that cycling through the warm pool, steam room, sauna, and cold plunge really gives me a chance to center myself, quietly meditate, and look inward. They discourage talking in the bathhouse which is great because it gives everyone a chance to do that. You bring your bathing suit and any other essentials, and they provide towels, sandals, a few hair styling tools, and samples of their lotion and body scrub. There are lockers and changing rooms, and they provide water and light snacks to keep you hydrated throughout. You have access to the bathhouse for a long period of time, usually four hours. I think it's awesome for the price, and no one is really tracking how long you've been there or rushing you out of there. It feels like plenty of time to enjoy the bathhouse without worrying about the clock. The spa is fabulous as well, and they offer a variety of different massages and spa services. Really great staff, very friendly, welcoming, and experienced. It can be difficult to get a weekend appointment here, but they tend to have a lot more availability during the week or if you book out very early in advance for a weekend slot. Treated my girlfriend to the Watershed spa for her birthday yesterday. They were very accommodating, unique place. Wish the hot bath was an actual hot tub but the concept was nice, they offer bathrobe and slippers but I saw neither. A larger area for using the blowdryer etc would be nice they have a few changing rooms but I think they are more for people getting into their bathing suits to use the facility. They had a nice room that was a little cooler that had water (No ice) and a bowl of delicious nuts and dried fruit. Cool place to try once. Parking all around is impossible. read more

The concept of a communal bath house is not new - they've been around for centuries, but Watershed's take on it is truly one-of-a-kind here in the Twin Cities. For the incredibly reasonable price of $50ish, you can spend up to 3 hours in Watershed's bath house. At your appointment time, an attendant will bring you down to individual changing rooms where you change into your swimsuit and grab a towel and sandals. They will then give you a short tour of the various spaces you can move through - a wood-burning sauna, steam room, warm pool, cold plunge pool, and meditation room. You'll start by rinsing off under a shower, but after that you're free to go in whatever order you'd like. There's also a salt scrub that makes your skin oh so soft! The meditation room is a lovely space with plenty of floor mats, blankets, pillows, and lounge chairs. I took a short nap but you can do yoga or whatever other calm relaxation you'd like. I appreciated little touches like fresh orange slices, glasses for water, and areas to lounge. You are supposed to keep conversation to a minimum and whisper if you do need to talk. The attendants will ring a subtle gong if the noise volume picks up. Watershed provides towels, sandals, blow dryers, hair ties, plastic bags for your wet suit, and other little conveniences. I also noticed that the pools are handicap-friendly - there are specialized chairs in both of the pools for someone who needs it. My friend mentioned bringing her paralyzed father in law. You can also book other spa services, such as a salt scrub or massage. I'm looking forward to trying those next time! My two friends and I had a wonderful and relaxing Sunday morning. This was such an amazing experience. The giant container of salt to be utilized was perfection! I recommend using the body butter samples because you'll want to buy a container from the shop afterwards. The towel system was clear and easy--your locker # matches your towel spot #. The sweat towels were restocked consistently, and the workers were dressed in black and I didn't feel like there was a "business" going on around me as I tried to meditate and forget about the world while they were able to do their jobs effectively. It's more focused on substandard light shows and new-age music, with very little substance in terms of bathhouse or sauna offerings. If you haven't been to a Japanese onsen, Turkish bathhouse, or Korean sauna--whether in South Korea or Koreatown in California--you might find this place amazing. But in reality, it's overpriced for what you get; definitely not worth the $63. First, the disjointed setup with lockers in the hallway and the changing room makes getting your stuff and moving back and forth a stressful start to what is supposed to be a stress-free activity. The toilets double as shower rooms, so if someone is taking a shower and you need to use the restroom, you're out of luck. I guess people just resort to using the lukewarm pool--which is small. Second, the venue is not gender-separated, so you're bound to encounter couples acting like it's their private space. Some of them, frankly, need a hotel room. Third, the space is cramped, dark, and stuffy--I couldn't really relax. It felt like being in underground bodega in Vegas, with your water panties and loud zen music playing in the background. There were also obese men wearing bathing suits, which, for me at least, was quite jarring to see. It would be nice if they had proper locker rooms for men and women so that changing and storing belongings was easier. An outdoor area where guests could actually enjoy the Minnesota outdoors while soaking in a hot tub would be a game-changer. Id say the most positive thing are the service staff, they were professional. Overall, it was a one and done experience for me. They claim to be the first bathhouse in Minnesota, unfortunately it leaves a lot to be desired, IMHO. read more

It was interesting. But I got athlete's foot from the required slippers. This is not a place to take friends and hang out. They do not let you talk at all. The music in the "quiet" room was way too loud. And there are only 2 bathrooms in the whole pool area! Me and my friend will not be back. Also, there is no parking. I've now been to Watershed 4x so I feel I can give a thorough review at this point. I've been hoping that a bathhouse would open in Minneapolis after experiencing them in other cities/countries. I was so excited to try Watershed for that reason that my first trip was in one of the opening weeks. At that time, the cold plunge did not work, among other kinks. But nothing works perfectly right away, and I was glad to see improvements along the way (like there's now shampoo/lotion readily available). I kept going, but after my last experience, where again the cold plunge didn't work--I think I'm ready to call it. (For context, there are several hot/warm elements but only one cold element, so you cannot complete a water circuit when the cold plunge isn't working. And it feels sort of gross to hang out in tempid water with strangers, where the water isn't circulating. It's also practically hard to spend 3 hours in a sauna/hot tub without the relief from the cold plunge so we left after after an hour yesterday after paying full price since no discount was offered even with this issue.) The first time, Watershed was really apologetic. The second time, there wasn't even an acknowledgement. I asked someone working there, and she said that an email had been sent and walked away. I didn't receive the email, so I don't know what was up. Here is my overall summary of good/bad to the extent that is helpful: GOOD: the music/lighting is relaxing, the facilities are small but well kept, and the massages I have received there have been outstanding. BAD: There are about 3 parking spots for the whole building so expect to pay to park on the street--but within a few blocks. Because of the size of the facility, it's easy to find yourself waiting to use the restroom or to shower or to get into one of the areas. I also don't understand why the online booking process is still so bad. It's impossible to book what I would assume would be a sought-after combination: massages and bath time for two people, so you have to call in, and the customer service is meh. They also have you tip on the total rather than just on the massage, which doesn't make sense to me. Ultimately, while the signs talk about this being a community-focused bathhouse, it doesn't really feel that way. It's much more of a place to go to unwind alone, which is fine, but if for the same price I can go to a fancy spa like the Four Seasons--I'm probably going that route (and it is nearly the same price if you want a massage and bath time). What I really love about the European bathhouses is that the focus is on the everyday health benefits, so it's affordable, and you see all kinds of people, including couples and families. It's like going to the YMCA to do a quick workout rather than a special occasion day spa, which is what Watershed felt like. I'm not faulting Watershed for that model--that's like going to a Greek restaurant, and then complaining that you don't like Greek food. But Watershed does advertise as being more of a community bathhouse, so I think it's worth pointing out. I have found that community experience at many of the sauna events around town where they set up a sauna and a cold plunge (or make do with a bucket of ice water) so I'll stick to those instead going forward. read more

I have been to the bathhouse and spa a number of times. The bathhouse is a magical experience! My only complaint is now that so many people know, the wait to get in is very long! It's a fantastic spot to unwind and refresh. In addition, I've had several massages with Nikki and have loved them all--she's amazing. However, I had a massage last night with Lee instead. Today I feel abused and beat up, despite telling him the pressure was too rough a number of times. It was honestly the most unpleasant massage I've ever experienced in my life and I'm sad to be out 150 bucks for the experience. In addition, I'm in bed from soreness, with a plan for the walk-in clinic tomorrow to address the severe pain in my neck that doubled after the massage. Beware. read more

I booked an appointment to save a time that worked but reached out via email and left a voice message requesting a call back to discuss therapists style since there is no information on the site. I sent the email and left a voice mail at 2:20 on Monday afternoon. I didn't get a call back until 8:37 that night. I called again on Tuesday morning to no answer. I went online and cancelled the appointment, or so I thought!!! I received a call today alerting me that I missed the appointment and that they were going to charge me $125 for this missed appointment. I have been massaged by Jane several times throughout the past few years. She is always so patient and willing to change up our usual routine if I am specifically sore in one area. She is also not afraid to get in there! Which I really enjoy. I have pretty intense knots in my neck, shoulders and back and the only way they are leaving is if they get released. I always feel relaxed and a little sore after I leave my sessions with Jane, but I just fire up my heating pad and drink lots of water and I am fine. After a half hour of watching other go to the baths without reservations, I decide the wait is enough. Nothing. No acknowledgment of me sitting in the middle of the waiting area.
