First of all.....found Studio Thre3e through Yelp! So thanks to those reviewers...you convinced me to call right away! I was in dire pain and was desperate to find something nearby and available. I've gone to multiple other spas/massage studios with either difficulty in short notice booking, or somewhat of a disappointed feeling. Once I called, Nena was able to get me in within an hour. God Bless her. I was practically immobile by the time I got to her studio. I pulled by upper back out and needed help with the tension/pain ASAP. Not only was Nena very accommodating with getting me in on short notice, but she truly took care of my 'injury' and didn't let time affect the massage. I had no idea how long I was there, I believe over 1 1/2 ....and by the time I left, I was able to walk without pain and far more relaxed then when I 'shuffled' in. Studio Thr3e is so cozy, inviting and relaxing. The design and all the collectibles work perfectly for the space. Not only is she running her own business, but she's trying to help those who need massage therapy and can't afford the traditional spa high-end prices. I truly respect her business model. The studio is located in the Foundry building behind the barber shop right in the heart of NE next to the Ritz Theater...great location, and convenient with no meters on the street! I made it a promise to myself in 2012 to continue with massage therapy and will ONLY go to Studio Thr3e from now on. read more

I'm so happy to find a locally owned spa in my neighborhood, and one as beautiful and friendly as this one is. I don't often treat myself to massages, but hope to more often now that I've found Studio Thr3e and Nena. I visited here on one of out recent brutally cold winter days, and the moment I stepped inside, I felt more relaxed. The space is warm and cozy, with lots of velvety drapes and dark furniture. Nena mentioned a lot of folks will do a group outing, and people are welcome to hang out in the space with drinks and food while they're waiting for their turn. There's a courtyard and outdoor area too for warmer weather. My 75 minute massage was very relaxing. She made sure to check if the pressure was right, focused on the tense areas of my body, and avoided areas that I didn't want to be worked on. I was on time for my appointment, but what with filling out paperwork since it was my first visit, we started a little late. Nena mentioned this to me and asked if it was all right if she kept me longer, so I could have the full 75 minutes. This was awesome, since I've been to other places where I haven't received the full time (even if it was a late start due to the massage therapist's schedule). Other things I appreciated - she asked how to pronounce my name (the one I go by is hard to pronounce, and many people don't even bother to ask) and made sure she got it right. The playlist was a lot of peaceful Sigur Ros tracks, which was lovely. Last of all, notice the attention to detail here, from the little bowl of mints in the waiting area to the cute dark glass goblets that perfectly match the decor of the place. Disclaimer: I know Nena outside of Studio Thr3e, but honestly, this review would be the same regardless of whether or not I knew Nena. First of all, can I just say she has the cutest shop ever? The cozy waiting room, filled with eclectic items from life, travels and what seems like the best grandparents attic ever. Nena's got great taste. On to the good part: the massage. I felt my body relax for the rest of the week as a result of this massage. She is very adaptive to how much pressure you would like and asks enough times that is courteous, but not too many that you want to say "shhhhh....relaxing now". The sliding scale she works on is also pretty great. Finally a great massage that most could afford without the endless parade of Groupons. My only complaint (and I know she's working on it) is that there is no sign on the front. There are so many other businesses in the space, that she's hard to find! Tip: Go through the gate and into the side door. MUCH easier. read more

Hooray, finally Nena has her own spot! (I should disclaimer that I know Nena outside of the spa, as well.) I've been recommending Nena for a long time, and am so happy that she set up Studio Thr3e at the Foundry! It's a great neighborhood, a wonderful building, and her space is beautiful. I book hour-long, but I'm certain I'm not the only person she takes extra time with during services. She really enjoys taking her time and not rushing through the process - it's supposed to be all about relaxation! I send my boyfriend to her for massage, his back is absolutely awful, but she gets excited by the challenge and he always feels better after she's worked on him. I will definitely be a repeat customer of hers, and not just because I know her! My massage STUCK, and I was relaxed for days. She also takes the time to get to know what you want out of it, and works toward meeting that goal. In addition to being a great massage therapist she's got a great personality, and wants to help people very much. That's why I absolutely love her sliding pay scale - massages aren't just for the rich anymore! I can't wait until I get to try her wrap (which she said is coming soon), or one of her cinnamon sugar scrubs! Everyone deserves to be pampered now and then. Oh, and if you want, you can take in your own music/iPod to listen to during your service - yet another personal touch from Nena! read more

Studio Thr3e is one of my favorite places in the Cities. Nena is an incredibly skilled massage therapist who is also kind and sweet. I've struggled with fibromyalgia for nearly a decade and I always see Nena when my pain is at its worst because her treatments are so effective. The studio space is also relaxing and comfortable and I sometimes hang out there to kick back and read a book. Jonathan Pounder is a wonderful new staff addition to the Studio and he offers group classes on how to live with less stress and more happiness. I participated in the first class and was irrevocably transformed by the experience. Though I have been reading self-help books for years and have seen several therapists, prior to this class I never came across anything that really stuck. I now enjoy a new way of thinking and reacting that positively affects every aspect of my life. The group dynamic was both stimulating and safe so I plan on re-taking the class simply to continue to enjoy the company and support. Highly recommended. read more

I found Studio Thr3e through yelp and decided to try it out since I live in the neighborhood. The space is a cozy alcove in the Foundry building and Nena has a wonderful massage table. The services are available at an affordable price and in a very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. I would highly recommend Nena to any other folks in Nordeast or others willing to travel a little for excellent service at an affordable price. read more

This is such a beautiful place. Nena did a fine job creating an inviting environment. When I walk in I already start to feel relaxed. The location is great, too. There are currently two massage therapists at Studio Thr3e, Nena and Bobbi. I have had massages from Bobbi in the past, so when she started offering services from Studio Thr3e, I followed. I have now had one massage and two body scrubs by Bobbi at this location. I was very pleased each time and am going back for another appointment next week. read more

I have gotten several massages with Johnny before and figured I would give Reiki a try. I was SO impressed with his talent! It is hard to explain the experience, and I'm sure it's different for everyone, but I recommend trying it out. I have been struggling with anxiety a lot lately and this really helped center me. Just had a great hot stone massage here today, and I'm already thinking about when I can go back! Here's what I liked: -Nena was personable and very attentive about my needs and what areas I wanted focus on. My back was really bothering me, so she made sure to explain how she was going to take care of that while still giving me a relaxing experience. -Great massage! Wonderful room with a heated bed and soothing dim lighting. She offered me a head and neck massage as part of it, which isn't something I usually get offered. She paid special attention to the ginormous knots in my back, putting enough pressure on them to loosen them up but checking with me to make sure it wasn't too much. -Cute and cozy space upstairs from a barber shop. It's on 13th ave near the 331 Club, but I was there during the day, so noise wasn't really an issue. -Reservations are super easy to make via the website. -Her fees are on a sliding scale! She's committed to bringing the awesomeness of massage to everyone, not just rich folks, so she gives you a range and you decide what you can pay. As someone fresh out of grad school, this is HUGE. Location is great, ambience is on point, and Jonny and Nina are so sweet! Had a great 90 minute massage with Jonny today, and booked a hot stone session with Nina in August. I felt welcome, relaxed and comfortable. The massage and body scrub were heavenly. You get to choose your own scrub recipe as well! The sliding pay scale is just the cherry on top. I'm in town for a visit but was having back issues. Their online appointment interface was easiest to use compared to others (no sign-up required beyond them needing email to confirm). Easy to locate - up the front stairs at the entrance to the barbershop - no need to go around back. Mobey was fantastic! Great intuition, worked my shoulders, back, neck. My first experience at Studiothr3e has got me hooked! I decided to go all out and do the full body scrub and 60 min massage. AMAZING! The scrub bar is so cute, I picked coffee for the scrub and vanilla for scent. Heavenly. My skin felt amazing and my sore muscles even better. Her pricing sliding scale is genius.
