There was no quiet pre-room lounge area. We were in a small waiting room next to the manicure station and pedicure station. We were offered snacks and water. Snacks consisted of Cheetos, pretzels and other variety of chips. It reminded me of snacks to pack in a kids lunch. While in the waiting area (small love seats) we noticed the wear and tear of pedicure stations, patched with several layers of duct tape. In the facial room I had a brief consultation with the staff. I had a hard time even finding the chair in the small room as it was so dark and the chair was black. I'm 35...I'm not usually so sensitive to darkness. During the appointment, staff took time to fill out a generic card to give to me at the end of the appointment that showed problem areas and recommendations of cleansing scheduling etc. this could have been done after my appointment while I was getting redressed since my appointment was already late and the session ended early as well. Overall for the price of the day, the salon, vibe and quality service didn't match up. It seemed more like a mid-quality salon than an upscale place they are marketing. They left us in there for close to an hour and came back and apologized in broken English, like they forgot we were there. Then they told us to get into these elevated bath tubs. That's the best way to describe them. They had foam mats on the bottom, and it looked like jet sprays on the side. Well, they told us to get in, face down, with our heads sticking out the fronts. Not super comfortable in any way, including getting in an awkward position in front of these ladies. So the water was between cold and very hot. It was Dove body wash, nothing special. They scrubbed us head to toe around five times. Asked why we were there, and I said it's his birthday. They asked his name and sang happy birthday. Very funny. Then came the massage. I had to use the restroom. This is where I was really disappointed. It was pretty dang dirty. Not just kinda. Like, dirt. Everywhere in the bathroom. So now I'm headed back for this massage, and I am worried about the cleanliness. The massage consisted of each small woman climbing onto our backs and using their elbows and knees. Walking inside the building is like walking into another dimension. It is bigger inside than out, full of pampering surprising all the way down its length! We completed client slips including listing any problem areas. Our massage therapists came to collect us and lead us to our massage room. The couple's massage room is very dim. The Massage Therapists explained that we could take off as much clothing as we were comfortable with. The massage tables have sheets and blankets. I mentioned a body irregularity. Then I asked which of the two had more experience with something like that. We were left alone for minutes. Even looking at the ceiling offered a softened view. Sheer drapes camouflaged the ceiling. Calming music played. I was completely comfortable removing all of my clothing and getting under the flannel sheets and heavy fur-like blanket.
