I've eaten here twice, a good experience both times. I've ordered a burger (delicious!) and a Reuben sandwich (nicely balanced between tangy sauerkraut, creamy dressing, and rich corned beef) and had a taste of the salmon (nice portion, neither over- nor undercooked.) Salads are fresh and green. If you've read many of my reviews, you know that my pet peeve is wilted, brown, or slimy lettuce. Not a problem here! At the end of today's dinner, our party split two desserts, lemon pound cake and carrot cake. It was late in the day and the lemon cake was a touch dry, although richly flavored and tart, the way I like it. The carrot cake was generously frosted, moist but not heavy, tasty and studded with raisins, nuts and other delicious goodies I couldn't identify. No complaints about the food! However, it's an order-at-the-counter arrangement, which doesn't seem to fit with the overall feeling of the restaurant. If you want to get something additional, you have to run back up to the counter to get it and pay for it. If you want a cup of coffee, they give you a mug and direct you to the air pots in the dining room. Perhaps because it was nearly closing time, the coffee tasted a little burned to me. My other gripe is that they have no coat hooks, a problem when four people are crammed into a booth during a Midwestern winter. read more

It will make me rethink ever visiting again, even though the food was great and the location is perfect after or before taking the train. I'm giving 2 stars because the way the staff handled our party of 8 celebrating my sons bday party put me off. The two guys at the front counter seemed high and very uninterested to help make our stay wonderful in any way. The first come first serve seating is AWFUL!! The fact that you can't find a seat and then order is not pleasant. Then you're stuck waiting in the itty bitty little entrance while others keep piling up ahead of you because the staff won't accommodate a large party. If we came and there were enough seats to accommodate us, we were first. Why couldn't we snag our seats and then come up front to order? Please rethink this process sweet little place because right now, it doesn't work and your food deserves better then that. Your guests deserve WAY better then that!! read more

Because of the Covid we ordered take out. Having never been there it was hard to order. The locally sourced hamburger sounded good and when I came I wasn't disappointed , the fresh potato curls were a wonderful surprise. The disappoint came with the chicken pot pie my husband ordered it was like soup with a biscuit on top. He need a spoon not a fork. He wished he had gotten the hamburger I was a nice wife and gave home hafe of mine. read more

My four stars do not come easy yet here it is! Just like that. Bang. First of all, the staff was courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable. They knew their sourcing immediately. I was impressed. The food was fresh and the sweet potato hash was heavenly. But that did not prepare me for the best brownie I have ever had--oh yeah. It was like flourless chocolate cake--the kind Trader Joe's used to carry but don't anymore. Then the peanut butter cookie was crazy good -- a chewy peanut butter cookie with brittle on the top. Wow. After a 20 minute outdoor wait with our toddler, we checked again and were informed that there was no longer time to be seated...my parents said the owners or former owners were very nice, but the people we spoke with today were very short and rude in every interaction. read more

Best Caesar salad I have ever had. Could taste every ingredient in their homemade dressing and it was topped generously with all the right kinds of shredded cheese. By adding grilled chicken it made a good late dinner. Triple cherry pie: another wonder. Lattice top crust and worth eating every bite. Can't say enough good things about the service, either. While this is a place where you order at the counter, take a seat, and wait to be served, we care and quality were top notch; I felt attended to without being intruded upon (I was dining solo). Wish they were open on Mondays because I'm ready for a hearty lunch! Can't wait to come back next time I'm in town. read more

They are all wearing masks, all the tables are spaced out. They clearly have a good cleaning system in place for Covid, as each table is blocked until it's cleaned. I grew up in Osceola so trust me when I say that The Watershed Cafe is the best little place in town. This wasn't here when I was growing up but now gives me a reason to go back. The location couldn't be more perfect. It overlooks the main attraction of Osceola, the waterfall. There is a back porch that is perfect in the few warmer months that the state has. The cafe is pretty small and the few times I've been in, it has been packed. Obviously that's a good sign. The system goes: order at the front, get a number, find a table. Service has always been very friendly and quick. There is a breakfast menu that goes until 10:30 and then a pretty extensive lunch/dinner menu with rotating specials. Everything I have tried here has been delicious. This most recent trip included a chai, scone and shared grilled cheese. Their chips tasted hand made and I could not stop eating them. Crisp with great flavor. I would have these over fries any day. The grilled cheese was full of yummy vegetables and obviously cheese. I have also had breakfast and nachos here before. Oh, and the best part, they serve alcohol. I saw beer, mimosas and a blood mary. I'm guessing they have wine. The interior is cute and cozy. I love everything about this place. If you find yourself in Osceola, stop on in. You will not be disappointed. read more

The food was pretty to look at for the most part. But too salty and tasted as if they just threw whatever they had in hand into the mix. The rice pilaf was inedible. It tasted like perfume would taste if you tried to eat it. My husband likes all food. He couldn't even eat the pilaf. The minestrone soup was more of a watery casserole. Everything in the soup was smooshy. The cubano sandwich was crazy salty. And the fries were grease bombs My berry dessert was good. The only good part of the meal. Place is cute. Waitstaff were nice. Food was great! We ordered take out. Rueben was good, the house potato chips are definitely their specialty- well seasoned with salt and pepper. It has the perfect crisp and texture. We also ordered a burger medium with cheddar on a brioche bun and that was great. Lastly we had the wild rice vegetarian burger and that was perfectly made on a brioche bun along with all the fixings of lettuce, onion, tomato and Mayo. What could be bad with a charming cafe and great location in a small town? The cafe is very clean and at first pass looks good. The friend greeter recommended the Reuben. Along with the Loaded Grilled Cheese this seemed like a good test. Our sandwiches arrived in a reasonable time. The plate were loaded with homemade chips that were quite greasy. The grilled cheese did have a good quantity of vegetable. The breads for both sandwiches were unremarkable. The Reuben was short on substance but that was OK; it was not worthy of a recommendation. It seems that the time to go might be breakfast. The early evening fare, overall, was sort of Dairy Queen quality. Coincidentally there is a Dairy Queen across the street. Perhaps their menu has changed. We just did not see anything that resembled what others have enjoyed. Overall the items were a bit costly for the quality. read more

Wow. This place is phenomenal. Restaurant is placed right next to the falls and they have a lovely patio We tried the pulled pork sandwich and the Reuben. Both were wonderful and came with homemade chips. The chips might have been the star of the plate. So good!!! They also offered a hibiscus tea which was super tasty. Great patio with a view of the falls! The food was excellent. They had the perfect hand cut French fries and homemade potato chips. The meatloaf sandwich special was my favorite - the sweet and tangy bbq sauce, onions and cranberry toasted bread all when together well. Service was excellent- they made people wait outside side to avoid crowding. Staff was wearing masks when interacting with guests. Looked like they had UV sanitizing lights installed by the bathroom. I took my son out to dinner here on Friday, 09/18. I had the Pulled Pork sandwich, and he had the Reuben. Both came with the absolute best homemade potato chips I have ever had.
