Moving is stressful and Waters helped to make it less so. The crew was on time, efficient, and careful with our belongings. I had Waters move us successfully 29 years ago, and was equally happy with this move. We had some heavy pieces and antique furniture; the crew wrapped and protected it all. They were responsive and set up our items as we wanted in the new home. I especially want to note the care they took in disassembling and reassembling the bunk bed in its new room. All the screws are tight, and the bed is secure for our kiddo's bedtime. Communications with the office staff were just as good. Upon my return, I found 2 full boxes missing. Silver serving platters, sterling silver religious wine cups, family heirlooms and items I'd had most of my life in addition to a box full of kitchen items. Believe it or not, 10 years later, I'm still finding things I'd forgotten about that were in the boxes. Linda, who was then in the office, made it so difficult to claim the loss, I finally gave up; which is the intention. I was told a BS story about how impossible it would be for them to mix up boxes with other vans coming in. However, a person in the industry with in depth knowledge of this company, said it was a lie and told me how they actually work and that so many complaints have been filed against them, that a very large well known company will no longer allow them to say they are an affiliate of that company. n searching for a mover, everything went well. I talked to Chris, prices were competitive and made a reservation. The reservation was conformed and the mover were there at 7am. The movers were beyond helpful and truly amazing on a stressful day they were always cool. (Until you read below and they damaged my new house) Then came the problems.... The office called me saying that they wanted to check on the service provided. What a lie! They were calling because I was undercharged and once I got on the phone there was not a care in the world about the service provided only about getting their additional payment as they did not bill me correctly the first time and did not provide a receipt. I find it VERY rude and disrespectful to call and lie about why you are calling. If the bill is not correct, be honest. I was honest and had no problem paying the correct charges. I did not need to lie or manipulate; however, they do. I really had an excellent experience with the booking agent and the movers, they were all professional and helpful. The real let down, disappointment and change in my mind on the service is when I had to deal with the office. Watch your bill, get a receipt and remember they are not always being honest! After unpacking I noticed that they damaged a door and the molding moving a chair into a room. There is paint on the chair and damage to the door & molding. They delivered plastic bins with lids instead of cardboard boxes, and then picked them up after the move. The bins had a greater capacity and were stronger than boxes. The WORST moving company!! I wish I could give negative stars!! This company was hired by a University to move our items while they closed the campus. We just received our items to our homes after having them housed for 3 months in their storage. Upon receiving my boxes, I had items missing, and other peoples items that didn't belong to me. All of my glassware was broken and they packed it in a single thin garbage bag! They didn't even have appropriate packing supply's! The boxes were smashed and one was even ripped open! Beware! This moving company recently moved and stored items for me in Oakland. They charged way more than they quoted, sent more men than agreed and charged erroneous fees to credit card without authorization. No communication was provided about overages. The also charge $100 for admin fees and coordination. If you have something stored in a container- they charge you $79 to pick it up! Run fast! read more

I first worked with Waters through my employer. They were so good that I had them move some items of mine into storage while I am having some plumbing work completed. They were awesome from the first phone call. I received a quick response. They came out within a few days to give me a bid on the cost. In less than a week, they came and picked my materials up and placed them securely in storage. They were super quick, but always mindful of the materials. Their storage facility is climate controlled and very secure. I have seen higher storage prices from facilities that have little security and are not climate controlled. After everything was moved, they called me to make certain everything went as I expected. They are high on my list of service providers when so many organizations do not think of the customer. Do not use this company to move your things! My family anxiously awaited moving day as we were leaving our cramped apartment behind, emptying our storage unit & moving into our new spacious house. Moving day went downhill when a team of 3 movers showed up at the apartment. 1-hour after their arrival, my 5-year old daughter told me that the movers had made a hole in the ceiling! To my horror, the crew tried to move a sofa through the front door & gashed 1-foot hole in the ceiling. Immediately the lead mover tried to reassure me that he could fix it the next day. I mistakenly agreed to let him repair it & I tried to put the incident out of my mind for the rest of the day even though I was worried that my security deposit would be forfeited because of the damage. Later the lead mover told me that he couldn't take apart a crib because he didn't have the right tools. All of my tools were either packed or at the storage until, 30 minutes away. He then told me that unless I provided him with the proper tool, he would not be able to take the crib apart & he wouldn't come back later to move it! Flabbergasted, I went to the nearest hardware store to buy the tool. Needless to say I was now completely outraged with this guy. After 5 hours the crew finally finished at the apartment & headed to the storage unit. This was when the lead mover started complaining that the sales office had underbid the job & didn't provide him with a big enough crew. His complaining (complete with cursing) set the tone for the rest of the crew & the rest of the day. The complaining continued when we arrived at my house & picked up steam as the day turned into the night. The crew grew from 3 to 5 but David's unprofessional attitude continued throughout the night. By 8 PM, the crew was cutting corners to finish as quickly as they could. They didn't put together one of my beds (they left the rails in the garage for me to find) & they didn't attach a mirror to one of my dressers. When they finished around 9 PM, I couldn't wait to have this crew off of my property. As we settled the bill, I asked the lead what time he wanted to meet at the apartment the next day so that he could repair the ceiling damage. He said 9 AM. I asked him if we was sure that he wanted to start that early after such a long day. He assured me that we wanted to start early so that he could "knock this out". I told him I'd be there whenever he wanted & I gave him my cell number. I arrived the next morning at the apartment a 1/2 hour early. 9 AM came & went with no word from David. At 10 AM he finally called & told me that he was en route but he had to pickup someone to help with the repair. He said he wouldn't arrive until 11 AM! My patience was officially gone & I angrily let him know that I didn't appreciate having him waste my entire morning on the day after my move because surely he must realize that I have "lots of other sh*t to do". The lead & another crew of 3 or 4 finally arrived at 11:40 AM. After 10 minutes of assessing the damage they left to go to a hardware store to pickup materials. They did the work & it appeared to be a good fix until the paint dried. They didn't match the paint color & it was visibly evident that something had happened to the ceiling. My wife was completely outraged when she saw the repair & insisted that we meet with the office manager the next morning which we did. We met with the office manager and the sales man who bid the job. Both were courteous & apologetic. The office manager agreed to send a company contractor to the apartment to finish the repair to our satisfaction. As a gesture of good will, the lead & his crew also tried to paint a crack in the wall with the same non-matching paint that now stood out. We showed photos of this to the office manager & she agreed that it should be repainted with the correct color. The company owner, called me a few days later with the intention of setting me straight about what they would & wouldn't fix. He was rude & tried to cut me off when I tried to explain the situation about the crack to him. After he tried to interrupt me I firmly asked him to let me finish speaking. Initially I only had a complaint about the moving crew but after speaking to the owner, I realized that the arrogant lack of appreciation for a paying customer stemmed from the top. The office manager & salesman were both reasonable, but everyone else I encountered left me with nothing but a feeling of regret that we used this company for our move. 10 days after the move & damage, I was still tangled in repair issues caused by this company. Bottom line: choose another company for your moving needs. Note that if you pay with a credit card you will be charged an additional fee of 3 or 3.5% the cost of the total move. read more

A move with Waters usually starts with a visit by Ed, he's their estimator. After his visit you will already know you are in good hands. After Ed sets the high standards there is no let down all the way through the completion of the move. The packing team (7 for our job) said they would be there by 7:30 and they were right on time. They packed our 4 bedroom house in exactly 3 hours. No wasted motion, no fooling around, no complaining about the 14 steps that everything had to be carried down. We were moving to Lincoln, CA and they said they would deliver by 8:00 the next morning. Again, right on time with an unloading team of 5 after a two hour drive from Martinez through one of the worst rain storms of the year. On arrival they hit the ground with high energy. Without the 14 steps this time they unloaded and placed everything right where we told them in exactly two hours. As everyone knows moving is always a stressful event. I wish I could vote in negative numbers. Don't even want to give 1 star. The first time I used them, I made a smaller move and they did really well. So I called again for a bigger move, and the disaster I'm now sitting in is overwhelming. I tried calling them about it and got no response. They broke an antique chair, grabbed a box of critical medication and tossed it randomly into some box I can't find now and did not correctly reassemble a very large piece of furniture they took apart. Large enough that I can't correct it myself. I will say, the guys really worked hard and were professional. But the way the move was handled was ridiculous. They sent about 12 guys into a tiny, 2 bedroom house and had it emptied in a whirlwind short amount of time. So fast we didn't even have a chance to grab things like medications. Then they sent only 4 guys up to the destination to unload 2 large trucks. Those poor guys were so exhausted when they got done that they couldn't wait to get out of there and ended up just dumping stuff where ever they could find a spot. They also put a nice big scratch in my brand new wood floor. They were NOT careful with any of our belongings. Now, weeks after the move, I realize they broke many, many irreplaceable antiques that they swore up and down they could move safely, and my stereo and a piece of medical equipment have been stolen. I guess all I can do is file a police report. I will file a report with the Better Business Bureau as well. I called 4 times and nobody would return my call. On my 5th try, I got a hold of a manager who told me they weren't responsible and that she would call me back and never did. The level of unprofessionalism at this company is unreal. At the time, I was very impressed by the quickness with which these three guys cleared out of my apartment (I packed it all myself, they just moved it), not to mention how conscientious and proactive they were. However, a couple weeks after the move, I am finding more and more of my pristine dark wood furniture dinged up and scratched (not to mention the top of my brand new microwave). Much like any other "yelper" you skip all the good reviews and start reading the bad so you know what to expect; please take a second and read a good review, because all the negative ones made me nervous and made me question if i made the right decision and gave me a lot of anxiety for nothing. So please read from a seasoned mover. This was the best move I have had ever. I have moved 7 times residentially in the last 7 years for work, this was my first commercial move. After acquiring a forty year old manufacturing company, I needed to upgrade facilities; I'm sure you could picture the headache moving a company like this would be. Ken (the owner) and his associate came to my office and gave me an estimate. Assured me everything would be ok, that they had my back. Family run, San Franciscian, and local business I like to support. They delivered amazing tote boxes that stack and wheels to move them around. What a breeze that was. My anxiety kicked in when I realized that my machines could get damaged. Called the amazing Linda on the phone, who is a saint, and she kept assuring me that everything would be taken care of. Permits, trucks, and men. They also came by again a couple of days before the move to make sure they were going to have an adequate amount of people and power. The day of the move will always be a highlight for me. 15 men showed up with four trucks. There were three point people. The headman in charge, Juan, who I cannot thank enough, made sure that there was a special moving truck specifically for my machines that he drove himself to assure their safety and watched as they moved them out. Alex, one of the other point people was incredible in making sure everyone was moving and getting things out. I didn't touch a single thing. Jamie (Pronounced Himaie) was another point person, and was there to break the cutting tables and everything down. What a well oiled machine this company is. We hit a couple snags with how the tabled were breaking down. Juan and Jamie called me over and before they said anything told me "whatever you want, we will make it happen", then we figured out the best solution. My factory was completely cleared out within 2 hours, my mind was blown. They were so amazing I brought lunch in for them, since I didn't realize that most moving companies don't bring it with them. So if you have a large move, great way to show how grateful you are, which I was. They were great group of guys, very diverse, and all excited to help. They were passionate about what they did, and delicate with everything they touched. At the new facility they immediately got back to work after lunch. Built up all of my tables and made sure that everything was perfectly in place the way that I wanted it, and didn't leave until they did. They cleaned up behind themselves and made sure to take the trash out themselves. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. They are the best moving company I have ever used. Waters Moving moved my office and we are very happy with the experience. Had two bids pretty much the same number but Waters offered to give us "totes" which we thought were bags to put everything in, instead of boxes. A few days before the move, 70 "totes" arrived and they were solid plastic bins, in red, with lids and a handful of sheets of labels so we could designated where they were to go. Brilliant! Instead of loading things into what can be flimsy cardboard boxes and then having to tape them up, our stuff whether hard and heavy stone samples or fragile wood models were thoroughly protected in the tote, and no taping! Just snap the lid on. And they stack easily and don't crush under weight - my own office had 3 totes stacked in it when I arrived and quickly emptied them in no time. No cardboard boxes to open, try and keep the lid flaps out of the way, nothing crushed or broken even if I had just a few things in one tote. Waters' service was equally smart. At least five or six movers showed up with a clear foreman to organize them. They were all smart and easy to communicate with and moved my office in three hours instead of the five estimated. They protected the main building hallway with masonite and protection cardboard. The price was as agreed upon and we were very satisfied. They had to take some items to my home and that was handled seamlessly - the driver and mover notified me the moment they were to take off so I could call my wife to be ready - very easy. I recently moved from house to another with another moving company and it was a somewhat stressful experience - the opposite was true of working with Waters. Think twice before using Waters, my experience was nothing short of terrible. They stored my belongings for 6 months . When returned, many items were either missing or broken. I asked to file an insurance report, and was told I was a scammer, lier, and cheat by Mr. Waters. I'm a 70 year old woman, and anything but a lier,scammer or cheat. We recently used Waters moving company to move from northern CA to southern CA and this was the BEST moving experience possible. The employees are professional, courteous, careful and hard working. On the morning of the move 8 men in Waters uniforms arrived on time and one by one introduced themselves. As a team they all walked through the entire house with us to make sure everyone was aware of the job to be done. They provided wardrobe containers (lots of them) to be used for the 3 day job at no extra charge which is a big plus. Our packed possessions were all on one truck and the truck is not shared with another person's belongings so there is no chance of your boxes getting mixed with another families or "lost".
