I am writing this review on both Amanda and AJ (waxing and lashes) Amanda- where should I start, I texted the studio for a last minute under arm wax to follow my last minute eyelash appointment I had made that morning (it was a crazy day). Amanda was fully booked until the following week, but somehow managed to work me into her schedule so I could get a convenient wax with her while I was waiting for my lash appt. She was SO SWEET! she used a hard wax on my underarms, and was very quick and efficient with her waxing technique. She made time for a little small talk during and after the appointment, and I felt really comfortable with her level of experience and attention to detail. I do not normally write reviews when I go for my typical eyebrow/lip wax, as it's usually so robotic. But I had such a great experience with Amanda that I had to leave a review. This is truly fantastic service and she has such great skill, that it must be noticed. I have been having trouble growing my brows in. Prior to moving back to Phoenix, I used to only go to a celebrity waxer in West Hollywood, and I have to say that Amanda gave a far superior service to a very well known celebrty waxer in LA, and of course, a much better price. She spent a lot of time on my brows, and has a certain "magic touch" so that it does NOT hurt and feel awfully awkward or awful. She got all of the little annoying hairs around the growth to clean me up, but kept the fullness. Another thing, she filled them in beautifully with a great product. I have bought lots of eyebrow pots, pencils, etc that don't give me the right look and make me look clearly drawn in, but she used a fabulous brow fill in product. Yay! Also, usually when I get my lip waxed, I break out. It has been 2 days since I got my lip waxed, and I have NOT broken out! Amanda saved my eyebrows! I had the genius idea to get my eyebrows done at the airport (bad bad idea) and they completely messed up my arch and my brows were so thin and odd looking. I read Amanda's glowing reviews and immediately set up an appointment for a week and a half after, to give my eyebrows time to grow out a little. I'll start off by saying I will never see anyone else but Amanda to do my eyebrows! I was never one to get my eyebrows waxed because I have sensitive skin, so I swore it off. With a wedding/honeymoon coming up soon in May 2015, I decided to search for options to get my eyebrows taken care of; tweezing was not making me feel absolutely confident. So, I've never been to this place. But my experience prior to even coming to my appointment was so awful that I ended up canceling my services and went to another business. I went to their website and went to the "book now" section, since I knew what I wanted to get done. As I went through the process of booking, there was a note saying if you are a new client, you need to book a consult. Makes sense given the first appointment is usually a consultation and then the services. So, I booked that, even though I needed a lamination and a lip wax. Fast forward to the day of the appointment. I get a text from Amanda, who was the person I booked, and come to find out, the Owner of the salon. I let her know I also needed to get a lamination and lip wax. She replied back saying I "should have" booked the lamination and lip wax if that was what I wanted. I replied back with why I booked the consult (because the website said it was necessary). She replied back with screenshots from the SERVICES section of her website, circling in yellow the small note under the brow lamination that says consult is not needed for this service. I replied back that on the section I WENT TO, that was not noted. I also stated that I would like to cancel my appt (bc I was not happy with how this had been handled), and to go ahead and please charge me the 50% fee of services required for a cancellation within 24 hours of the appt time ($17.50). I assumed at this point she would say something like "oh, thanks for letting me know about the site! Sorry about the misunderstanding!" Or something like that. Instead she replied back with...wait for it... this is the best part...that she couldn't charge my card on file so I needed to VENMO HER the $17.50. I was SHOOK! What business owner has someone VENMO them for $17.50 over something that technically isn't even my fault?! The point isn't about the money. I'll give you $17.50 all day long. The point is, the customer service. Or in this case, the SEVERE lack of. The whole scenario was just tacky and the lack of care for the customer was something I've literally never experienced before.
