Really impressed with Waterloo Sunset Records. We were going to have some time to kill before going to a concert later in the evening at Truist. First, I didn't realize how close they were to the stadium, really made it a no brainer to check them out. Non the less, I called to see if they had cassette tapes as well as vinyl, to which I was told they had several hundred. When we arrived we looked through the store. Really cool stuff, they had several vinyl I'd never seen before. Selection of both new and used and all genres were available. Towards the back of the store was mounted cassette shelves that we sorted through to see what they had. When the girl I talked with earlier saw us looking at the tapes she approached and asked if I was the one she had talked with earlier, to which I replied yes. She then led us to another part of the store to show us boxes and crates that were filled with unsorted cassettes. She indicated we could feel free to look through these as well for anything we would like. In addition to records and tapes they have a large selection of DVD, blu ray, video game, some comics, posters and random pop culture nick knack type stuff. Really cool store, glad we found it. Customer service was outstanding! I'd for sure return if we were in the area again. read more

This spot is located at The Battery which I think is so cool, the inside is really cute. They have posters hanging on the walls, a coffee mug wall, $1 bin of vinyls, a nice sitting area. I was really excited abt this place until I saw that they have a dog, luckily the dog was sleep, it is a small dog but nonetheless customers should be aware. I saw a Ray Charles vinyl that was $1 that I wanted to purchase and the person I was with wanted to purchase a Bob Marley coffee mug, we waited at the register for several minutes and ended up leaving bc no employee came back to the register. Overall, I do think this is a cool spot for vinyls, they had a nice selection of records but I would not go back to this location. read more

Very nice place for the vinyl lover and with good prices indeed. I'm from Stockholm, Sweden and we don't see many of those places anymore round there. I found a bunch of awesome vintage funk/soul/hip hop records for about 4-8 $ each!! I spent most my money here actually and stayed more than an hour I believe going through their stuff. Friendly staff guy allowing "listen before buying". I like that too. Will surely pay a visit next time in Atlanta. read more

Always suspicious when a record store (traditionally with thin margins from selling vinyl) moves into a bigger and better space and spends so much more on overhead. Not sure as a former music executive how long they will survive. Great selection, really fair pricing but customer service sucks. Owner Ted has a shaky reputation in town and dresses like a slob (complete with extended belly popping out of his stained shirts). Rarely makes eye contact or is friendly. He is known to be racist as well unless you are buying his soul or hip-hop. On RSD, several buyers were asking him to bring up more clearance items on sale and he was too lazy to oblige. I prefer shopping at least once a week with my three vinyl buddies and posse where my money is valued. read more

This store combines the depth & selection of a store like Wax N Facts with a shopping ambiance closer to a Tower Records - you're not kneeling down with your head buried under a shelf, squashed from every corner by vinyl or vinyl scavengers. For the location - the retail mall in the shadows of SunTrust Park - prices are also surprisingly fair. I was checking Discogs while browsing! I interacted with Ted, the owner, and he was very friendly & helpful. And I am a person of color as well (just offering a contrast to other reviewers who had a bad experience here). Only downside is the limited free parking in the adjacent "Green" lot. Not limited in time (up to 4 hours free), but number of spaces. read more

Visiting family in Woodstock and decided to make a trip down to The Battery to check out Waterloo Sunset Records before returning to my hotel. There's a couple shops in the area open late the pictures online drew me to this one. I thoroughly enjoyed perusing the rows of records, posters, and figurines. They also have tapes, movies, and comic books. You could easily spend an afternoon here. Even as closing time approached the staff was welcoming, attentive and accommodating. I have frequented this shop many times, but unfortunately I won't be able to return. A good friend of mine is Iranian-American and was treated with rudeness and blatant racism by the owner, Ted. She was made to feel unwelcome, uncomfortable, and unsafe in a place where she had spent money many times. She was so shocked and upset she didn't say anything at the time, so I'll say it for her. I'm disgusted and angry that you would treat someone of color this way in your store, Ted. And rest assured, I'm telling everyone I know how horrible you made a young woman, who's only fault was that she happened to have a skin shade different then yours feel, when all she wanted to do was support a local store and enjoy some great vinyl. So they just moved locations and it seems like they're still getting settled in but I must say it's gearing up to be one hell of a record shop. Clean feel with nice wooden decks that hold the records. Good selection across vinyl, CDs and an IMPRESSIVE dvd collection against the wall. They have major genres covered and seem to have something for everybody. Cons: organization is tough because, unlike other stores, they tab major bands but put untabbed bands (like obscure bands with only one record on-hand) IN BETWEEN the tabbed bands, so you literally need to flip through everything to make sure you're not missing stuff. Most other stores I've been to put the untabbed stuff at the beginning of each letter (like after "P" and then you can just scan the tabs to see what's up. They need to change this, because not everyone knows exactly what record they are looking for. Also wish they would beef up the metal collection but overall I think they have a superb collection. read more

The owner didn't greet my husband or me and was very rude when we did communicate. He never even acknowledged us, never asked us did we need any help, and when it was time to pay, he just motioned for my husband to come to the other counter and slid his debit card on the table as opposed to placing it in his hands. I hate we spent any money with them, but I was in such a great mood to finally be out of the house due to COVID that I didn't realize the way we were treated until we had already left. First time visit on a Wednesday afternoon. The owner's sitting near the front with three other people and a dog discussing promotions for an upcoming music event; no acknowledgement of my entrance, atmosphere seemed cold and aloof (strike one). After perusing briefly, I approach the owner to ask if they buy vinyl and, if so, could I bring a crate in. He said yes... and when I went out and brought it in I was told, "Just put it over there..." (pointing to the floor by the dog... strike two). As I continued looking, they're still discussing promotions with one guy blithely flipping through a few LPs in the crate. Twenty minutes later, with other stops to make and cognizant of the fact that they obviously couldn't be bothered, I told them I had to leave. I mean, I would say they acted like I was an imposition to them, but I don't think they were even THAT cognizant of the few customers in the shop... as they say in The Battery, three strikes: you're out. To be fair, their stock wasn't too bad and their prices didn't seem crazy. In fact, I MIGHT have considered a purchase otherwise... but it cost me $$$ in the parking meter for nothing in return but a cold shoulder, and they can't touch Fantasyland, Wuxtry or any of the other more established record shops in the ATL area... so why bother? read more

Beautiful record shop in The Battery near SunTrust Park! This shop is large, spacious, uber-clean, with a fine selection of used and new music. It's nicely laid out and organized, the staff is very friendly, and there are some great finds here. They definitely have room to add more product, but I enjoyed the sense of space and organization that one seldom finds in vinyl shops these days. This is a Top 3 record shop in the Atlanta Metro Area. read more

In town for Twenty One Pilots. Both my daughter and I collect (and listen to!) vinyl. Saw the shop and couldn't resist checking it out. Great selection of new and used vinyl. Prices are appropriate and not tipped up to take advantage of the hipsters. Owner is personable and friendly, greeting everyone and milling about. Been to this store several times at prior location and new location. I leave a little disappointed each time for several reasons. There are pros and cons, so I will elaborate: Pros: One of their STAR employees is Garrett (I think that is his name). This guy is a a wonderful resource for music knowledge (and movies!). Find out if he is working and GO THERE. He is one of the best reasons to go to this establishment. He is helpful and full of USEFUL information and takes care to understand your musical taste before making recommendations. Record prices are decent but all too often the employees reference Amazon or eBay to determine sale price which doesn't always bode well for the customer looking for a "deal". Also, there is a really great engineer type guy there named Ernie who really knows his stuff. So if your interests go beyond the vinyl, and you want help repairing old equipment or advice on what to buy, go there on a Saturday when Ernie is working. Cons: There are stacks, and stacks, and stacks of records that are not yet available for sale. It seems the "new arrivals" are the same each month. I understand that they go out and purchase records in large amounts. Even in different states. But it seems they are VERY slow in getting those many records into the bins for sale. The key to success here is having a fresh batch of supply, right? Also, in my experience, it seems the employees tend to purchase the records that come in that are in high demand and priced well. This has happened to me several times where I wanted to purchase an album only to be told "well, I am actually buying that one." The owner Ted is quite an enigma. Don't expect warmth or friendliness. To the point where you look him in the eye, say "hello", and do not get a reply. Also noticed him berating his own employees in front of the customers which was embarrassing to say the least. Finally, there is one guy there named "Bobby" who takes his job way too seriously and is all too eager to jump all over customers if he thinks there is an issue. Almost inviting conflict. Summary: Good selection, fair prices, not the most customer friendly, but worth the trip if you can catch Garrett for vinyl recommendations or Ernie for technical solutions. read more
