Top 3 record stores in Atlanta hands down. In trendy downtown Roswell close to Canton Street, Mojo Vinyl is perpetually on my top list of record stores in all of Atlanta. I host a vinyl record store crawl for vinyl collectors. I know all the good spots, and this is one of our favorite stops. Today I found a record that is impossible to find anywhere. Mojo Vinyl has an excellent selection of just about any genre you might want to, especially rock and Indie, and particularly jazz. The store is laid out well and very well labeled. Easy to find a treasure here. The prices are reasonable with plenty of both new and gently used vinyl. I have never had quality issues when I purchase a record from here. I have also sold records as I like to update my collection from time to time. They were fair with a store credit, and I was able to find some great records! The staff here are very knowledgeable and helpful. If you collect vinyl records, definitely don't miss this place!! You'll love it too! read more

This was the only store in GA participating in Olivia Rodrigo's midnight album release on June 12th. There was no communication about how exactly the release would be handled. People who arrived on time and waited in line did not get a chance to participate in the unadvertised raffle for the limited edition Vinyl and many couldn't even purchase a normal one. Please don't host an event like this if you cannot properly anticipate or accommodate a large number of people. read more

Mojo Vinyl has an absolutely incredibly selection of both new and used vinyl. I always find something amazing when I shop here. The people who work here are kind and give you their time to help you find exactly what you're looking for. Their new arrivals bin is always a treat. They have an extensive selection of both Jazz and Rock and also generous selections of other genres. Rand, the owner, always greets me with a smile and it's clear he's never met a stranger. I'm not new to music but am new to Viynl. This shop is a lot of fun. Staff are helpful and friendly as are the customers. When buying something there's always a discussion about the music itself. They are open to offering advice, suggestions and basically whatever you need. They are heavy on pre-owned albums and mostly new rock, but there's a little of everything. I like digging through crates to find gems and I feel like I've won numerous times. Prices vary and are set according to rarity and condition. The bargain records are great if you have a spin clean or some other quality cleaning device. If you ask they'll clean one for you before you leave. Parking can be tricky but there's a park immediately next door with plenty of spaces. read more

Found this place in early December 2022. I have been back every weekend since. Great collection of original albums, remasters, new releases, oddities and rarities. Primarily organized by genre (alphabetically, with solo albums next to their original band for ease of searxh when applicable). They also carry turntables - I just upgraded to an AT-LP3 - as well as maintenance tools to keep your collection sounding as good as possible. Staff is unbelievably friendly and knowledgeable. They don't gatekeep or condescend. I've listened to them talk with seasoned pros and first-timers with the same level of care and excitement. The in-store music is always rocking, as an added bonus. Unfortunately, I live too far away for Mojo to be my regular digging den, but its good rep was always a lure, so I decided to stop by for a maiden browse when I happened to be in north OTP today. The new location is in a stand-alone house near an urban recreational park. There are a few off-street parking spaces and an attractive porch with deck chairs - good to relax a spouse & dog while I'm 'on the clock' inside. Sunday is "half-price used jazz" day, which was fortuitous. Of course, Mojo's popularity means the section is somewhat picked-through, though I did find a nice item. Given I had a strict 30-minutes to browse, I put off till another day the opportunity to mine the well-stocked Rock/Pop section. I asked Steve, the helpful staffer, to direct me to the International & EDM sections...to which he admitted weren't deep....but as luck would have it, I struck some hard-to-find Chinese movie soundtracks in the New Arrivals bin. Now that's Major Mojo! Definitely look forward to a longer visit when I'm in the area again. read more

I kinda wrestled with my review here on whether to put it on 4 or 5 stars. It's a 4.5! but, I've got to slide back and land on 4, while I really really love this place and will be back, there's a few things I'd change. The "great"! Tons of selection! Well organized! Neat and tidy - it's a blast from the past in a small little room but yet well laid out to find what you need. I found a lot that I haven't seen before that are rare and some sealed LPs. I really felt like a kid in a candy store!! The "could be improved"! The music was very loud in the place. Easy enough fix - the LP's are pricey, offset slightly by special Wed pricing = buy 2 get 1 free deal. Iit makes me feel appreciated to buy in bulk. however, being that 80% of the pricing lands in the 12$ range, this gets you to where I have paid elsewhere.... I did feel conversely that he had a nice collection of VG to EX rated Vinyl, I found no junk condition. Also, I'd really love to see the owner add furniture, LP holders, stylus cleaner, etc - bring on the accessories, while I think that many that come in here may be established in their collection there are probably equally as many that might wander in without a turntable or furniture and want to get the party started right away. Unfortunately most of my room mates and ex girlfriends made off with most of them, and what was left eventually found itself in thrift stores. Back to the future. Having recently purchased a record player for my daughters fifteenth birthday, the next step was to find real albums for her to play. Enter Mojo Vinyl. A true record store! New releases as well as many used albums that I remember once owning, and now kick myself for not keeping. Prices are a bit higher than other shops, but not enough to seriously object. The owner is super friendly and knows his inventory very well. Mojo Vinyl is a cool shop. My daughter settled on The Smiths and the Talking Heads (which I used to own!!) on this trip. Pretty good selection of rock and jazz. Definitely not a place I would go if you are looking for hip hop or modern R&B. The staff was extremely helpful. They also had the inner sleeves that I needed for some of my older records. If you are into Blue Note releases this is definitely the place to go. read more

Good local music stores are not common in Atlanta. We found this little gem today thanks to Yelp and luckily they're open on Sundays so we can check it out. At first we were confused as there's a sign in the back parking lot, and the site that it's nearest is closed down. I thought, oh no they went out of business but then luckily we kept walking and found it around the front of the building tucked into the corner. The music that came out of the speakers was pure heaven... Real rock music from the Golden era of music. (I asked later if the Bob Dylan album he was playing was for sale but unfortunately it was his personal album lol.) They have a HUGE selection of new and used music. The new music tends to be overpriced compared to Amazon, which is where I buy most of our vinyl. Some albums were $8 higher, some only $1-2. The used vinyl was maybe a bit expensive but I didn't feel it was overpriced, I suppose that based on your opinion. I most enjoyed looking through the compilations and soundtrack sections, and found a couple of really cool classic rock albums one at $8 and the other at $12. I've found prices on Ebay to be similar once you add shipping and it's nice that you can check it out in store. I also bought 2 new albums that were total $3 over Amazon prices - a very small difference. And I'm glad to support this cool local business. The young man behind the counter looked like he stepped straight off the set of Dazed and Confused and he knew his music. It really added to the vibe. I can see us stopping by here weekly or every other just to see what they have in stock. And I ended up buying that Bob Dylan Album (Highway 61 Revisited) on eBay. I wavered between 4 or 5 stars based on some of the prices being higher... I decided on 5 stars because it's a really inspirational and cool place to hang out and rediscover old music you haven't thought of in a really long time... I've been going here for a few years now, and this is pretty much my go-to store. They have a good selection of records, and the older stuff is usually used ($5-$15 based on popularity and how rare it is) while the more recent stuff is usually new ($20-$40). All in all, the prices are pretty on par with the more popular shops. The location is a bit hard to find, and the do share a lot with 2 other stores, but that's just Historic Roswell. There's nothing they can really do about it. Honestly, though, it being tucked back in a corner sort of adds to the experience of finding a little treasure trove of vinyl in Roswell. It makes it feel like a real find. The owner is really a cool guy, looks late 30's, mid 40's, and if you walk up to the front with a large pile, he has no problem cutting you a deal, sometimes unprompted, which I appreciate. He also has the chillest Golden Retriever, to whom it is required to give a belly rub. There is also an older guy with long white hair. He can be quite rude, so have thick skin if he's there. He's the reason I'm not giving 5 stars. There's also been younger guys and they're all cool. All in all, it's a good shop, it's a bit more expensive than some, but they do it for the love of the music, they know their stuff, and they're happy to share that knowledge. And sometimes you can get something really cool, and really rare, with a really interesting backstory. For me, it was The Masked Marauders. read more

Was out on a special daddy-daughter date night with my 10-year-old daughter last night. I had introduced her to record playing/collecting this past Christmas and was excited to learn that we had a record store right here in Roswell. Spending time sifting through the store's used collection brought back memories as a youth and I was happy to re-live these and pass them down. The owner is nice and the people hanging out were very cool. They had a great selection and the prices were what I expected. My daughter bought the latest from Billie Eillish and I bought Rubber Soul from the Beatles (for the eleventith time). Happy to support a good local business and we will be back! read more

Roswell has a friendly neighborhood record store! I found the place through the Record Store Day website, and was quite surprised to find a record store in Roswell. And what a find! I didn't think places like this still existed, and I hope they have great success. Put this place on your list to support, as it is the kind of place I'd recommend buying something just so the experience of visiting such a record store stays alive. Especially if you're bored in Old Town Roswell by antique shops, you can come here for a nice break. I find the selection to be quite good, with pretty new vinyl from Modest Mouse and Pearl Jam up on the wall. The owner and employees are very friendly. It really is the kind of place you can go to hang out and listen to records. They'll put anything you want on the player, and the speaker set up in the back is very nice. They have a wide range of vinyl choices, from low prices used records, current new records, to some seriously collectible and valuable items. When I visited, the owner showed me some amazing Beatles stuff. If you don't have a record player, then WHY DON"T YOU HAVE A RECORD PLAYER? Any music fan knows that, in the days of tinny mp3s, the richness of sound of vinyl is worth the investment. I bring this up because, when you buy a record player, you get out what you put into it. At Mojo, they sell some very nice record players, and I'm thinking about upgrading mine there soon. These guys have a LOT of knowledge about music systems, and were very helpful to me in talking about my stereo setup. On a recent visit, I picked up a very nice Pearl Jam boxed set, and they gave me a little break on the price. In addition, as I had spent more than $100, they threw in a Mojo Vinyl t-shirt, which I since have been wearing proudly. It proclaims "Listen Naked". My friend just starting getting into records and I told her we'd try to find her a Cat Stevens album. We went to Mojo and it was coolest little place I've been to in a while. Pretty decent record store. I like the owner, he's a nice guy and his dog is super cool. Store hours are weird, so just call ahead unless its on the weekend. The store's has a decent selection and variety It's a mixed bag sometimes, so it helps to research what you're really looking for and know the maximum you'd pay to get it. It's a new store and they're working on pricing, which is ok. It's just kind of hit or miss. They sell new vinyl which is cool, but the average price is about $28. If you go online, most can be had for less sometimes, like $10 less depending on the record (like soundstagedirect or popmarket). Used, not so bad. It all depends on the record though. I've found a couple good buys while I was here, but I've noticed some off the wall things too. I like to see what record stores have for sale and compare their price to what I paid somewhere else. As most consumers do. I recently bought a record in mint condition at another well known ATL record shop for $10. It was up on the wall here for $38. The max price anyone should ever pay is maybe $15-17. So it was a little alarming. Sometimes you can hit a good buy and I felt it really paid off. I like their location and it's a perfect area for a little record store. I'd be a regular weekly visitor if pricing was updated, it seems a little too much. Small, cozy shop with a good cross section of styles, but leans toward rock. Both new and used at reasonable prices. Condition of the used LPs seems to be very good and up, which is nice. Went to Mojo for the first time this past weekend. The store is fairly small in comparison to some others in the area, but the selections are pretty good. I was there crate diving for an hour or more (lost track of time). From what I could tell, the bulk of the inventory is used with little for new options. It would be nice to see new separated from used. I know space is limited so having an entire section of just new then separated by genre is not practical. But it wouldn't hurt to make the first or last crate in each genre section the "new vinyl" crate for that genre. Just an idea. I was happy to find a couple of records I had been looking for. The only reasons the review is not 5 stars is because of the location and the price point. The price point for used is on average between $8 and $12. That is WAY higher than the other stores nearby. The location was difficult to find. This was my second time coming to the area just to look for the shop. The first time, I drove around and around looking for parking which I never found. I also saw a sandwich board at the entrance to a very small parking lot for Mojo but looking at the building from the street, you can't see the store. Parking was such a problem that I ended up leaving without finding the store. I'm glad I was able to find it the second time. I will go back for sure, but it will not be my go-to location for vinyl. It will be reserved for those times when I'm having trouble finding something in particular elsewhere. read more

Killer record selection and an EXTREMELY helpful staff. I'm a newbie to vinyls and recently got a new table and was having problems skipping on a new record. Brought the record in and they tested it there and it worked fine (but still ordered a replacement just in case, no questions asked) and then turned their focus towards my table and helping me fix it. Steve and Rand both gave me some pointers to fix my table instead of being pushy towards just buying one from them - which I will be doing anyways once I return the other to Amazon. Mojo Vinyl is all about quality. They only have the best on the shelf, whether it's a rare classic or a new release. I bought about 20 albums there and was really impressed with how attentive the staff there goes through them before they go on sale. Their new vinyl section is insanely cool... if you're looking for something contemporary. And they stand behind their used records. I got one that looked good when I bought it but didn't sound that great when I got it home. I took it back and they swapped it out no questions asked. I found out about this store through an article on AJC about Record Store Day 2017. My curiosity was piqued when I realized it was only 2 miles away from my apartment in a really cool part of nearby Roswell. I immediately decided to go check it out and I am not disappointed at all! In fact, I felt like I had walked into a record shop from my youthful days, only that this one had much more of the widest spectrum of rock music I've enjoyed all my life. I met the owner and a few other patrons who were there for the weekly Friday beer drink-up, on the eve of Record Store Day '17. I always like to check out local vinyl record stores when out of town. I'm glad this is one i came across. I was walking around the corner trying to find it and then I heard the Stones, which of course directed me in the right direction. There are stores that are big and have no selection and there are small stores that have a great selection, this is definitely the later. There is a great classic rock selection, with some blues and new vinyl mixed throughout. The staff was great and friendly (even his dog)! He directed & advised me in the right direction for everything. Prices were very reasonable and on the day I went (Wednesday) everything was buy 2 get 1 free. Overall great experience, will definitely return next time I'm in the Roswell area read more

I called to see if I could get directions to the store, and I got some very nasty condescending gentleman who answered the phone. I proceeded to tell him that I was trying to locate the store I was riding the bus from Sandy Springs, and I was very familiar with historic Roswell. All I wanted to know what landmark was he near. He proceeded to tell me in a nasty tone that basically that he didn't have the time to answer any questions he was busy, and if I had a cell phone or smart phone I could be able to Google his address. I refuse to spend my hard earned money in a place of business that doesn't have a great representative for customer service. It could have had taken him only a second to give me the information since I was the customer that was planning to spend money in his store. I will not be shopping there EVER!!!!! read more

I'm an audiophile, I've spent about $10,000 on my gear alone. So when I buy records, I'm looking for the best. So this review is based on the quality of records, and what records they have. I love mojos. They have great, clean records for a great price. On the other hand, I've been burned a few times. I've gotten 2 records that I had to just trash (1 had surface noise thought out the disc, the other skipped in the middle of side one) I don't fault mojos for this, as it is the responsibility of the buyer to inspect what your buying. But I also feel that the seller does have some responsibility to check what there selling. That's why I knocked off one stars from my review. Will I be back to mojos? For sure, this is a great shop and I'll keep purchasing records from them for years to come. I'll just inspect them well. read more

When I'm at a flea market, I look for interesting vinyl records for a buck. When i want the highest quality available on a vinyl I just can't live without, I go to Mojo Vinyl. On my McIntosh system, the quality between a $1 record and an $8 record is tremendous. Rand only stocks high quality. That's why I spend all my Christmas and birthday money at his store. read more

Went in there on Sunday around 1:00-2:00 PM. The store is in a nice part of historic Roswell. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I haven't been to that many record stores, but this one isn't a very large one. I would guess he's around half as big as other stores I've been to, but his business is more focused on quality than quantity. The organization there is great and all of the choices are focused on how good the vinyl is. I only bought one album there, Frank Zappa's Hot Rats for $18. That album normally sells for around that much anywhere, but he did have one with near mint condition on the vinyl so I couldn't resist. I would say it's pretty fair on the pricing if you're going for a very good/near mint vinyl. I would probably only shop there for rarer picks and not for ones that sold well back in the day, those you can get at an antique market for $5. I love the layout of the store and it's collection, I hope to meet the owner next time and shake his hand for keeping the beauty of vinyl alive. read more

This store is fantastic! When I parked in the back, a staff member saw me waking around to the front door and very nicely let me into the back door. When I walked in, I was greeted by awesome artwork, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd posters, and great music playing from a turntable in the front of the store. There were many different rooms in the store, and all of them held different genres of music. In each room, there were lots of crates to dig through (if you like crate digging, this is a great place to get lost in), and there were even more records underneath those crates. The walls in each room are adorned with records, and there is great stuff to be found there too! There is a wide selection of used rock and jazz LPs, but there wasn't as wide a selection of hip hop or pop (which is fine because I don't really buy pop or hip-hop on vinyl). Although they have both used and new vinyl, there wasn't nearly as much new vinyl as there was used (most of the new vinyl was in the "new arrivals" crate, but there was some new vinyl in the other crates as well). One thing to note though is that the used vinyl is a little steep in price in comparison to other record stores I have been to. Another good thing it note is that if you want to listen to your vinyl before you buy it, there are plenty of listening stations in the front of the store! After you make your selections, you check out in the front. The guy who checked me out (who also was the guy who let me enter through the back) was super nice and was very complementary of my selection of vinyl. Overall, the experience was fantastic, and Mojo Vinyl has become one of my favorite record stores in Georgia! read more
