We were visiting Marietta for an outdoor arts festival. Afterwards, we stopped in here to browse. There were a number of 'zones' in the store. They had a sizable set of shelves devoted to camera equipment, another area devoted to books (including some old TV Guide magazines, which I thought was interesting), and yet another featuring typewriters. Anyone over 40 will find some nostalgic items, and those under 25 will likely enjoy it for the mystery. They had a back room that appeared devoted to vinyl LPs. we did not venture back to check it out, though. This place is worth a stop if you are in downtown Marietta.

    Great jazz blues selection.

This review is based on my July 2021 Record Store Day experience ... multiple reasons for a 5 star review - service, hospitality, and overall range of vinyls available. So I was in town to visit family and realized I would not make it home in time for RSD in my hometown of Nashville. A quick search of locations around me popped up a few in area and lots in Atlanta. Reading a few reviews I was a bit nervous about Sweet Melissa - I had a great experience. I arrived super early for 9am opening of RSD and was rewarded with #1 spot in line. Parking is easy and lots available in front of store. The owners arrived early b4 the 9am opening and immediately greeted the line of folks and asked if anyone needed to come inside to use the restroom. Great start - they then brought out coffee and donuts to the now growing line of folks - can the morning get better? Yep - Fast forward to the opening and the very organized entry to select and browse through the RSD releases. The owners gave me a quick tour of the layout which was organized and well stocked in lots of genres. I picked up a few more titles on my list and saw they had many more - but budgets will be budgets so I stopped my shopping spree at that point. I will be back for the selection, the hardware they carry (wide range of phonographs) and the great chit chat from the owners. Easy 5 star - you are definitely Sweet from this shoppers point of view!

I love a place with analog technology.....I've heard of this place for years and glad I finally dropped in....I'm not super in vinyl but I have over 1000 CDs that I've been collecting since I was about 15. It's a great place to check out music from the 1980 and before. To be honest I wouldn't mind getting a few of their disco vinyl just for fun. Here are some of the sections.... ABBA James Taylor Barbar Steisand Rod Stewart Earth, Wind, Fire The international submarine band Sam & Dave Brenda Holloway The electric prunes The band The blue project Erroll Garner Herbie Mann Louis Armstrong Fresh cream Elvis Costello Inxs Twisted sister Grand Funk Railroad Carol king Of course they had many more of bands that I can't remember the names to and or know what their music is about... I thought the prices were fair and reasonable...I'm not a super collector and I understand they need to make a profit so I don't mind paying a few bucks more to a local small business..... 1469th review 7/9/2018 389th for 20158

I would debate the greatest record store in Atlanta is between this place and WaxNFacts but it can't stay open so it can't even compete. 5 stars for the store , 1 star for not being able to stay open.

Really impressed with Waterloo Sunset Records…read more We were going to have some time to kill before going to a concert later in the evening at Truist. First, I didn't realize how close they were to the stadium, really made it a no brainer to check them out. Non the less, I called to see if they had cassette tapes as well as vinyl, to which I was told they had several hundred. When we arrived we looked through the store. Really cool stuff, they had several vinyl I'd never seen before. Selection of both new and used and all genres were available. Towards the back of the store was mounted cassette shelves that we sorted through to see what they had. When the girl I talked with earlier saw us looking at the tapes she approached and asked if I was the one she had talked with earlier, to which I replied yes. She then led us to another part of the store to show us boxes and crates that were filled with unsorted cassettes. She indicated we could feel free to look through these as well for anything we would like. In addition to records and tapes they have a large selection of DVD, blu ray, video game, some comics, posters and random pop culture nick knack type stuff. Really cool store, glad we found it. Customer service was outstanding! I'd for sure return if we were in the area again.

I…read moreknow all of the good spots and Atlanta is RICH with quality if not ICONIC record stores. RetroSound Records is, hands down, one of the best record stores in Atlanta. Not because it's the biggest, but because of the staff and because I ALWAYS find something I love here. The owner Ken and his associate Josh are some of the best in the biz. Ken has turned me on to some fantastic records I may have never thought of and he reaches out when something comes in that he knows I'd like. We have similar taste in music (so...excellent taste in music) If he suggests it, I usually buy it. Josh is incredibly knowledgeable and gives the level of service that keeps me coming back. RetroSound Records has a great selection. Pro tip: Always start out with what's on the front counter. Never fails. Then hit the bins on the end of the front counter. Those sections never fail me. They have an EXCELLENT jazz section and right in the middle of the shop are many great records that are half price. THAT section never fails me either. It's my favorite. Ken has a great selection in general and he will spin anything you ask him to (unsealed of course). If you are into vinyl, always buy local! We need to keep shops like this open. Keep an eye out for their Mid Night Madness Events. You won't find Record Store Day here, and that's ok with me!! Mid Night Madness is much more fun!! Get to this shop, and ask for Ken and Josh. They are some of my favorite people in this business and you will be incredibly happy with what you find here.
