As a returning customer placing my second order, I expected a much higher level of professionalism and customer service. As the food the first time was amazing. I was prepared to spend $77 on this order, and the least I expected was the professional courtesy of a phone call to explain the situation and offer an apology, even if the staff was busy or unable to fulfill the order. Simply canceling an order without any communication demonstrates a strong lack of respect for customers and their time. Because of how this was handled, I will not be returning, nor can I recommend this establishment to others. Strong customer service is about communication and accountability, and unfortunately, this experience fell far short of those expectations.

Okay first thing to say about my experience, location sucks!…read more Located next to other shops it was easy to pass by this small spot. I had to circle around to find the parking. Well there is enough parking in the back parking lot. But there's this security guard there. I asked if he's the parking attendant and he said I'm security. I asked where machetes is and he said that's in the front I only care about the back. So I guess that's his only job to watch the parking lot. And it's located across a homeless camp. So I can see why the need for parking security. Such a turn off! Upon entering machetes I was greeted. The worker asked if I was ready to order and I said just another minute as I wanted to look over the menu for what I wanted since it was my first time. The counter was covered in devices I guess a lot of people order from here. I ordered a turkey and salami sandwich. The worker then asked if I wanted it on the white or brown wheat bread. I chose wheat. While waiting I asked if they make their own bread and they do so I was impressed. The worker asked me, you say you didn't want tomatoes? Then I responded I want everything it supposed to come with. I thought I heard him say a second thing but wasn't sure and I was looking closer to the menu. I didn't realize you can add items to the sandwich for free. The worker then hands me the sandwich wrapped ready to go. I then said oh sorry can you add peppers, cucumbers and Italian vinaigrette. He did not look happy. I apologized saying sorry it was my first time. He said it was cool. Well proceed to pay. And he said have a nice day and I said thanks and left. Sandwich tasted amazing! Big portion! The wheat bread was so soft and light. Refreshing from all the vegetables. And moist from the vinaigrette. Although peppers were missing. Total for just the and sandwich was $13.40. Not a bad sandwich. Just a weird location and weird vibe. Don't forget that there are free addons and a list of them in a tiny section on the bottom of menu. They won't remind you it's there or offer it lol. I'd come back.

Honestly nothing to rave about, I've had better burgers/sandwiches elsewhere even here on Maui but it wasn't terrible, it was just ok in my books and satisfied the hunger. I think my guy friends come here often since it's walking distance from our hotel and they probably just crave some American food and honestly I'm probably the most foodie of the bunch haha! The service was good and for the restaurant being pretty busy on a Sunday evening, they were quite attentive which I appreciate. We got condiments and our waters were refilled timely. All of us got Burgers/Sandwiches, from a regular Hamburger, to the Western (which my friend loved due to the Onion Ring and BBQ sauce), Pastrami Reuben Burger (my friend wanted a straight up Pastrami Reuben but he just ate the Burger because he too was hungry), and my Reuben Bites (sliders) with Onion Rings. I'm a huge fan of Beer Battered Onion Rings (which the waitress said it was when I asked) but I quickly noticed it was breaded. It was delicious but I just prefer Beer Battered for that light crisp. I probably would've preferred my sourdough to be less toasted and maybe a bit more dressing? And I am one to prefer a crispy exterior but a little too crispy for my liking. I thought it was cool they offered Breakfast all day. My friend was almost going to get himself a Breakfast plate but he changed his mind last minute. They look like they have a great selection of sweet like Pancakes and savory like Loco Moco or Benedict's. This was located at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Shopping Center so lots of tourists trying to find something to eat.

To that, I added on a box of sea salad ($4.50) and a box of small chocolate chip cookies ($6.25). My total came to $33. Great! It's a lot of food. If I went back for a normal lunch, I would probably keep it to 3 to 5 items for a lunch costing $11-$18 depending on whether or not I wanted leftovers. And you're going to need that for your day jaunting across Waikiki in your new seal-print bathing suit. So ditch that Moko Loko and grab yourself a beautiful sandwich from Sprout, you'll feel a lot better about your trip to Hawaii. I love that Sprout has vegetable-forward options even in their meat-based sandwiches. The pesto chicken salad was loaded with beautiful green goodies which made this treat as aesthetically pleasing as it was delectable. They're also slapping down some of the best local Hawaiian ingredients into these here sanguines. The pesto itself was mac-nut based, which was intriguing. I'll be honest, I couldn't taste the difference between that and a pine nut pesto, but it was friggin delish pesto either way. The only downside I can think of is that the bread here lands somewhere between "ok" and "good". I've never had a bread quite like it, but it reminds me of a mix between an artisanal white bread, and a painini bread that you would find in Italy. It got the job done, but I feel like it could be upgraded. Sprout is worth a visit before or after your beach trip. The surrounding neighborhood is also a lively area with tons of fun restaurants and shopping.

About 10 minutes before my 2:00 PM pickup time, I received a text letting me know my order was ready, which was a nice surprise. I ordered the IL Parma sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious. At $24, it's definitely on the expensive side for a sandwich, but the quality of the ingredients and the freshness made it worth every penny. The flavors were fantastic, and I didn't mind paying the premium price after taking that first bite. Parking can be a little tricky. I'm not sure whether customers are allowed to use the Hana Koa parking lot for quick pickups, but a kind employee allowed me to park there while I ran in to grab my order. There are only a few parking spaces directly in front of Bocconcino, so that's something to keep in mind. There's some tables under a covered area, right next to the store. The bite that had a good amount of sauce was incredibly flavorful, but the rest of the slice was a bit dry, and I tasted more oil than tomato sauce. It was great dough but the flavor was not there for me. I really want to love this pizza more! The staff was friendly, though it took a little while to get my slice.
