Not from Winston Salem area. I came around to do errands and decided to stop by. I been wanting to try this place out for a while but hadnt had a chance to. First time trying it in Charlotte and they got me hooked ever since but its too far of a drive for me, glad we have one in the Triad area now. I tryed the paradised iced latte, I believe there was ube foam on top and caramel swirl on the bottom. It was okay, I think I will stick to my salted caramel. Flavor was too llight and it looked very good. A cute decent size coffee shop. I was going to try the Nova Lox smoked salmon bagel with caper,onions and cream cheese but I couldnt,the kitchen is closed. The staff mentioned she already turned off her oven when I walked in...so I guess they stop orders for there food menu a hour before closing. read more

It was our first time visiting Waterbean Coffee. The space has a stylish decor with a cute coffee bean-stenciled wall that really stands out. I ordered their limited-time matcha drink. The ube gave it such a beautiful color and it tasted great. I could definitely taste the matcha. I also tried the Raspberry Rose macaron but that was a bit of a disappointment. I couldn't really taste either the raspberry or the rose. Since it was after 4 pm, I skipped the coffee (I didn't want caffeine keeping me up all night!) but they had a lot of interesting coffee options. This was our first time visiting Waterbean and we were pleasantly surprised. We were running errands in the area and this was the closest coffee shop and decided to give it a try. I was in the area the other day and stopped in for coffee. The shop is decorated really cute and has a good amount of seating. I ordered a snickerdoodle latte and it was delicious! It had this cold foam on top that reminded me of like a crème brûlée topping. It was like a crunchy sugar topping. The drink was pretty sugary but not too much for my taste. Stopped by Waterbean Coffee and was super impressed! I tried the Paradise Latte (brown sugar with lavender and ube cold foam). I was a little skeptical about the flavor combo, but it ended up being so delicious, none of the flavors were overpowering and it blended perfectly. My husband got the Snickerdoodle Latte (white chocolate, cinnamon, and brown sugar) as a hot drink and it was amazing too. The barista we met was super friendly and gave great suggestions. The shop itself is adorable. Definitely the kind of place you'd want to catch up with a friend or get some work done. Only downside is it's a little pricier than nearby spots (about $7 per latte), but honestly the drinks were worth it. read more

Trying new coffee places in Winston and this time around I went to waterbean! Charles helped me out as it was my first time there, he asked what I usually get i told him I usually get Chai latte's, so he recommended I try one of their seasonal drinks called cinnamon sticks, which is 3 pumps of chai and 1 pump of pumpkin spice and it was delicious! I also got a shot of espresso with it, and I had to try their avocado toast which was pretty okay! They had tons of veggie options and pastries to choose from as well. As soon as we walked into Waterbean Coffee, Ash, the sweet and helpful barista greeted us warmly. I told her that I was visually impaired and asked her to help me to decide what I should get by describing what they had. Of course, I ordered my usual: an iced oat milk mocha latte half sweet with three shakes of cinnamon powder mixed into the espresso. I asked for half Sweet because I know that most places use too much chocolate to my liking and the coffee is too sweet and therefore I cannot taste the actual espresso. I am thankful that I asked for half sweet because even half sweet it was a little too sweet. It was still very good. I also couldn't really taste the espresso very much as their coffee is obviously not very strong. However, the place has the coolest vibe and is big and open and bright, and the music was perfect for the ambience. I also ordered a slice of their fresh banana bread that had chocolate chips in it. It was very very good! The blend of the flavors of the banana and chocolate chips made it scrumptious! Ashe said that they get their baked goods from their bakery that's located in Huntersville, North Carolina. I also mentioned that I read that the owner of the original location is Asian and she said that he's Vietnamese. There are several locations throughout North Carolina. This is a perfect place to study, to meet with friends or just to enjoy a good cup of coffee with a pastry. They also serve several different types of sandwiches including some that are served on croissants with different cheeses like American and provolone. I was a little concerned about the prices as one reviewer said that her iced vanilla latte was $10! I am not sure but I paid $16 for my 16 ounce iced oat milk mocha latte my friend's small hot chocolate which was full Sweet that he said was divine and a slice of banana bread. I thought this was a very reasonable price. Of course I added a tip which is my usual practice at all Coffee houses. read more

A narrow store located in the midst of many stores with a big open parking lot between them all, I've found Waterbean a quiet coffee respite in the middle of a busy area that includes Hanes Mall just down the road. The iced mocha I've enjoyed here probably ranks either first or second on my list of places. Waterbean Coffee's website lists their coffee as USDA certified organic. The service is quick, friendly and helpful. Despite the narrowness, plenty of seating is available and the atmosphere is bright; the floors, tables and chairs are clean; and the playlist has been pretty mellow the couple times I've been here. Pricing is on the higher side, in line with the big green coffee machine. If I have another opportunity to return in the future, I'll be here. read more

Today is officially the first day of Fall and it definitely felt like it outside (chilly and rainy). Glad I stopped into the Waterbean coffee place near the Rockbox where I was working for a pick me up! I decided to get the "Oh My Gourd" latte from their recent Fall drink menu along with a pumpkin flavored cookie. Both were delicious! The barista was super efficient considering she was there by herself to greet, work the front counter and make the drinks! My coworker who was with me told her to "make me your favorite drink!" This is a great spot to meet up with a friend or do some work. For this area to be busy the coffee shop is quiet and not usually crowded. The employees are always friendly and make great recommendations. The drinks aren't overly sweet and they are always willing to make adaptions. The food offerings are pretty basic but made to order. I love Waterbean Coffee! I've been to this location a handful of times and I've always had pleasant service. While the location is a bit small, it still has a nice ambience for getting in some studying or work. I'd been looking forward to trying the Paradise Latte for a long time after my Filipino coworker introduced me to ube, and I'm not gonna lie, I was mildly disappointed by the drink. Just based on having ube recipes and ube hayala, I personally don't taste the flavor of the ube in the drink. If I had to describe it, I'd say it tastes more like a hazelnut flavor. I have found my new study spot. I love everything about Waterbean. The staff is very friendly. I try their Vietnamese coffee and it was perfect. I like how they make it fresh for you and it was not too sweet. I also had the cinnamon roll scone, which was very tasty as well. I love how the space is divided. There are plenty of small tables with outlets on the other side of the shop. It was very quiet and I was able to work for a while. Modern, clean, great menu items, real cups! Food options, great looking sweet treats, indoor and outdoor seating, great service, and of course really good coffee. Love the fresh vibe, great music, and location. Plenty of coffee, tea and food items to choose from, I went with a cappuccino, and they have lots of milk options, different size options too. I love how they give you real cups if you are staying there, it just makes a coffee drinker happy, not to drink out of a paper cup! You get a little espresso chocolate bean too with your drink. Cute. Great coffee, nice and strong, lots of thick foam, which was impressive, not super milky which is how I like my cappuccino too. Gleaming new espresso machine looked amazing too. Waterbean Coffee was first established in Cornelius, NC in 2013 by Tony Vo in an effort to create quality coffee that strives to uphold their vision of being more than just a coffee shop. They incorporated interesting flavors like ube and snickerdoodle into their lattes and even had options for coffee flights and espresso flights for you to sample multiple options if you had difficulty choosing one drink. Their interior is extremely well decorated and has a modern vibe. The lighting is all contemporary, and their chairs and tables match the venue as well. There is ample seating in the back of the cafe, so you won't need to worry about not having a place to sit! Paradise island latte (ube with lavender) - This drink did a fantastic job of incorporating the ube, lavender, and coffee flavors. The earthiness of the ube balanced out the floral lavender, and the coffee flavor was the glue that held them together. It's the perfect harmony! Snickerdoodle cold foam - This was my favorite drink! The drink is extremely rich and has multiple layers of flavor. I was honestly very impressed with not only the flavor but the beautiful presentation as well. The foam on top is slightly crystallized, so make sure you mix your drink thoroughly to get all the components of the drink in every sip! I love their unique take on their menu, from coffee/expresso flights to specialty lattes. They also had some baked goods available to buy. We ordered the Paradise latte (6/10) which has ube cold foam and lavender flavored coffee. I was excited for this but could barely taste the ube, the lavender was very overpowering. We also ordered the snickerdoodle cold foam latte (8/10) which was so delicious and cinnamon-y! Love the brûléed sugar top. My only major complaint is that the drinks were SO sweet, almost dessert sweet. I would have preferred a sweetness level of 25% of what was given. I got a delicious dirty chai that wasn't too cloyingly sweet, and the best gluten free muffin I've ever had (the cinnamon one is to die for). As a gluten free person, I was thrilled to see a variety of treats offered versus other coffee shops. The barista was super nice, and the ambiance was open and overall pleasant.
