I am incredibly disappointed in the recent services and customer service I have received from Tony with Water Shield LLC. Tony has completed 3 projects on my home: roof, gutters, and now siding. He did a great job on the roof and gutters hence why I used him for my siding, but the siding has some issues which need to be addressed. I recommended Tony highly to neighbors who have used him and have given him a lot of business, now that I need him to come back to discuss some of the concerns I have he is not responding to my texts, calls, or emails. I am very concerned of this lack of communication and for this reason along with the issues I am facing with the recent siding job I cannot recommend him. I signed a contract stating there is a 10-year Labor Warranty stating " This warranty guarantees that your siding has been installed with the utmost of care and for 10-yrs if there is any siding installment issue doe to craftsmanship by Water Shield LLC, the siding issue will be rectified with the labor free of charge to homeowner". I plan to utilize legal services to ensure this binding contract is followed. read more

This is my first negative review I've ever written because I do not want to talk poorly of someone even if service was disappointing, but I feel it necessary to warn others to avoid this company. We've been requesting a paid invoice to report to our insurance for over a year. Tony and his wife Crystal will ignore you at all costs. Once the work is done and you have paid they will not pick up the phone or respond to messages. They also left nails all over our yard after replacing the roof. Our attic fan had been squeaking and finally quit. I put a request out on Yelp and Water Shield was quick to respond and came out quickly. They swapped out the fan and gave me good advice on what thermostat setting to use. I asked them to reseal all the flashing and they also recommended applying spray paint to the hot water heater chimney to prevent it from rusting out. They took photos so I could see before and after which saved me the trouble of climbing up to inspect the work. The worker said our roof had a few years left and gave us a quote on the spot when I asked. They had good customer service, were honest and reputable, and did the work for a fair price. Best of all the fan is humming up there nicely and our AC unit can work a little less now. I would definitely recommend Water Shield! read more

My review was in my drafts for some reason and this review long overdue. I reached out to Water Shield in June 2019 to get a roof inspection. Crystal was able to get me an appointment within a few days. Tony came out and completed the roof inspection and even took pictures to show us the condition our roof was in. He was honest and let us know we should replace our roof sooner rather than later. He said our roof would hold up a little longer but it would be better to be proactive and get a new roof soon. He provided me a couple quotes for two different types of shingles. We waited for the weather to cool down some to replace our roof and reached out to Water Shield in September. We had a hard time deciding on a color so they dropped samples off for us to help us with our decision . We had to get approval for a color change through our HOA and they assisted us through this process as well. We are very happy with the quality of work and our roof looks great. We have used Water Shield for a few different tasks over the last year and have been quite impressed. We had a leak in an upstairs bathroom last summer, and Tony came out took a look and was able to fix it quickly. Another roofer had told us that we needed to replace our roof immediately, but Tony gave the roof a more thorough inspection and said that we should consider replacement within the next year. The crew replaced our roof this week, and their work was both thorough and efficient. It only took two days, and they cleaned up ALL of the debris both days. The cost was cheaper than most companies in Northern Virginia, too. In addition to roof work, Water Shield has also cleaned our gutters at a reasonable price. Signed the contract, and so far 100% IMPRESSED. Mr. Martinez -- the owner -- was the only roofer that came out and actually went on the roof. He was completely upfront, no BS specials, no high pressure sale pitch. NO BS CONSTANT PHONE CALLS. The roof was taken all the way down to the deck, and several squares were replaced at no additional coast. All new materials were correctly and patiently installed for a roof that was 27 square. All roofing vent pipes painted to match the new shingles. GAF Architectural shingles with all the bells and whistles; 4K down, and with $7200 due at completion. One might say, OMG that's so much, but you get the installation that you pay for. I actually had one roofing company (locally owned and operated), call me and tell me that they could do the job $7000 total, and this was one that came and estimated the initial coast at 20k and sized the roof at 18 square. Replacing a roof is not free. If you cannot afford it , go to home-depot and buy the roof paint that is used for re-roofing mobile homes and paint you roof with that. My gutters kept getting clogged, spilling water just outside of the front door. Tony had cleaned them once but because there are leafy trees beside my house, they would still get clogged pretty quickly as soon as the rains begin. I looked around online to get quotes and Tony's was by far the least expensive. Plus, I'd worked with Tony before and liked his work. In between securing a date for Tony to complete the work and the work beginning, I got squirrels in my attic. I called Tony to see if he could also fix the hole that they had created to gain access. He said he could. Tony arrived to do the work and finished the removal and installation in one day. He explained to me the differences in the quality of materials between the old and new gutters. He also showed how the gutter shields also worked, preventing materials from getting in and clogging the drains. The next day, he came back early in the morning to fix the hole in the attic and replaced the wood with an aluminum-type material so that the squirrels could not burrow their way in again. My neighbor was so impressed with the work that he walked over and asked Tony for his card saying that he wanted to get his gutters replaced. All throughout the job, Tony took the time to explain what was going on and show me where he was at each step of the process. Tony did a great job. We have a new home that is only two years old. We had a leak above our gable windows and the builder said they fixed it last summer. Tony went up there and took lots of pictures and even a video to show us that they did not fix our roofing by the two windows. Explained what he needed to do, and two days later he came out and not only fix the roof, but took the extra step to seal the corners of the front of the windows too. I hired Water Shield to apply sealant to 18 windows frames that connect to the vinyl siding. Tony came out on time and inspected the windows, discussed different options with me and then we agreed to a price. It took a bit of time to get schedule as the weather wasn't cooperating, but when he finally came out, he knocked out 17 of 18 in 1 day, and the last window was in the loft, so he had to bring back a longer (40foot)ladder the next day. I looked over his workmanship and it was top notch. He was very knowledgeable in areas of keeping the water out of my home. Tony did a very good job and I would recommend Water Shield. read more

They didn't show up at the scheduled time for the initial estimate, after we waited for an hour. When I contacted them, they said they were running "a little behind" and would be there later (5 hours after the appointed time). Consequently, we couldn't be there when they looked at the house, so their quote didn't include some of the things we wanted to ask them about, making it useless. I found Water Shield through Yelp, because I had a leaky roof. I realized I had a water problem when part of the ceiling in my entranceway caved in due to the leak. You can see how bad the problem became in the attached photo. I had previously hired another roofing contractor to replace my gutters and dormer windows, which he determined to be the problem, and although that took care of some of the leak, it didn't rectify the leak completely. After several attempts of that contractor trying to make patches on the roof, there was still water leaking through the hole in my ceiling. Realizing that I was never going to get anywhere with him, I searched Yelp and found the good reviews of Water Shield. I contacted Water Shield and spoke to the owner who set up an appointment with her husband, Tony. Tony said that he would need to rip up some of my existing shingles to get a better look, and quoted me a fair price for labor and new shingles to match the existing ones. I decided to go with him as he seemed honest and knowledgeable. When he showed up to complete the job, I thought he was only going to be there for a few hours. He ended up being there most of the day with his team. I am happy to say that after about 6 heavy rain storms I haven't encountered another leak, as I have held off fixing the hole in my ceiling just to make sure. I am going to let a few more storms go by before I fix the drywall just to make sure, and will follow up here if there is a problem, but so far so good. After our bedroom ceiling sprung a leak during a rainstorm, we called several companies for assessment of the roof damage and estimates for repair/replacement. Right from the start, we were impressed with the great communication from Crystal and the personal touch from Tony. He was the only contractor who walked the roof personally, took pictures of the roof and chimney damage, and showed us exactly where the problem was while explaining how he would fix it. The work started and finished when they said it would and Tony came back to do a final inspection, clean-up, and to show us the "after" pictures (very much appreciated!). All the roofers are busy right now including Tony, but unlike all the rest he responded quickly and caringly to my request for a small repair. Tony is honest, competent and he gets it. I've put off committing my thoughts on this company for a bit, trying to compose a concise review. In a word this company is awful! March 2, 2018 saw the NoVA area hit with a terrific wind storm. Our insurance company authorized repairs to our roof, it could not recommend a roofer, which forced us to search, on line. Antonio Martinez contacted us and agreed to come by to give us a quote. My husband and I decided to have the entire roof replaced. That cost more then exceeded the money provided for repairs; a cost we bore without comment. The shoddy workmanship provided to us was not noticed until July 2018 when heavy rains fell in the NoVA area. My husband, who is 72 years old suffers from a detached retina and dementia, is unable to go onto any roof - conditions Mr. Martinez was made aware of. NO ONE has been on our roof from 26 March 2018 until 24 July 201 when both Mr. Martinez and an insurance appraiser came out to help us understand the water leaks in our bed room and living room. Immediately Mr. Martinez declared that the problem wasn't his but that he could fix it, at an additional significant cost but not before the coming weekend. The damage we now have to our home occured in March 2018, because Mr. Martinez caused it; he simply chose to ignore it. Attempting to discern exactly which day of the weekend he would return several calls were made, both to his home, where his wife, Chrystal, answers the phone, as well as his personal cell phone, each time I left a voice message. I even sent an email, a copy that I still have, attempting to reach them to hear when he would be out to repair the damage. Not one time, to any call or email, was a response given to us. Not once. He finally answered his cell phone Sunday night, the 29 of July 2018, not concerned in the least that he had failed to come out, or contact us he said that he would come out "Tuesday A.M., first thing" but again gave no time. I called his cell Tuesday morning, the 31st of July 2018 at 9:00 A.M. and "well no he wouldn't be coming out, he was busy working." He was supposed to be working for us! Just as he was supposed to have been out there the weekend of 28 July 2018. We made emergency arrangements to stop the leaking with a professional, licensed contractor. Photographs taken by both this contractor, and a licensed roofer, on 31 July 2018 and 1 August 2018 show that Mr. Martinez caused the damage to our chimney/roof, specifically by failing, among other things, to replace the flashing correctly and not tarring the area around the chimney to allow for proper run off. The photos include one showing close to one hundred discarded nails lying in one of our gutters. Not near the gutter IN the gutter. A similiar amount was seen in the second gutter: those nails were left when the old shingles were removed on 26 March 2018. The contract, submitted to us specifically stated that Mr. Martinez would ensure the "removal of ALL job related trash and debris, including the passing of a magnetic sweeper, in the work area, to collect any stray nails." As a direct and proximate result of the poor workmanship provided to us by Water Shield, LLC, we incurred, for the first time in the 30 years, water damage through the roof/chimney. The costs to correct his errors has now exceeded what he was paid to replace the roof. The repais are not yet completed and our home remains a disaster. Mr. Martinez, and his wife, remind me of snake oil salesmen. When confronted with his mistakes he was belligerent and aggressive. I know because I placed the call. His wife attempted to dispute the issues but she has no direct knowledge of any conversation; I do. I was at every one of them. I cannot say that these people are evil; I do not know them well enough to say that. What I can say is that he blew through his work back on 26 March 2018; 8:30 AM or so until about 4:15 P.M. and proudly announced that he was onto another job, in Sterling. He had our $3,500.00 - guess more money awaited. He no more cared about the quality of his work then he did his obligation to clean up the work area. We trusted this company with our hard earned money, as retirees there is no "over time." He abused our trust and caused terrific damage to our home. read more

I decided to hired Water Shield LLC to replace my roof, fascia boards, and added gutter guards. This was the best decision by far. It started with a little water leak in my upstairs bathroom around the fan. Water was coming in and dripping into the bathroom floor. I already knew that my roof was overdue for a makeover. I wanted to replace everything, the whole nine yards. So, I started calling contractors after contractors and they came by for inspection and price quotes. I had about 10 contractors that quoted me and Water Shield LLC was the only contractor that told me my gutters do NOT need to be replaced. Co-Owner, Tony Martinez said that my gutters are not broken and there's no crack nor leak on them therefore no need for replacement. I was able to save a few hundred bucks by NOT replacing the gutters. Tony was up front and honest from the beginning. I wanted the cheapest shingles which are the 3 tabs and he offered the GAF Timberline instead. This was definitely an upgrade with no extra cost. After signing the contract, Tony and Chris re-paired the broken shingles the same day for a quick temporary fix on the water leak. This was without me asking them and no extra nor hidden charges. They came back after one week and replaced the roofing shingles (GAF Timberline), fascia boards, and added gutter guards. Tony and Chris did a fantastic job and finished the job in two days. I would highly recommend "Water Shield LLC" as your roofing contractor. Tony is genuine, reliable, and dependable. I had NO issues from start to finish. Overall, I'm 110% satisfied with the outcome.
