Yep, another five star review for American Windows…read more We received three estimates for replacing three windows, a French door and a picture window. American Window undercut the estimates of the other two vendors by a substantial margin. We also really liked they only asked for a modest down payment. Jay was our sales contact at American Windows and he was absolutely great. He has an engaging personality, and kept all his commitments to us. We appreciated that when installation day came, he swung by to ensure all was going well. Oh, how did the installation go? It was fantastic. Not only did the windows and door come earlier than promised, the American Windows crew came on time and worked quickly and professionally. We were amazed that the whole job only took 4 1/2 hours to complete. The windows and door materials are high quality and we are very satisfied with the results.

We decided to drive an hour out to their showroom without calling first. Even though they weren't open yet and are by-appointment-only, Phil greeted us without hesitation. It turned out they couldn't take on our small window sill repair since they didn't install the original window, but Phil helped us anyway! He gave us repair ideas, explained potential causes, pointed us toward the right tools, and gave us contacts who could help. To top it off, his cuddly dog Wilson kept us company, and Phil even recommended a local spot for lunch since he knew we had a long drive. We are completely speechless at his kindness and support, despite not even being paying customers. Based on this first impression, we would work with Phil any day. The world needs more people like him!

$3,100 in unresolved damage and minimal, delayed follow-up…read more I hired Home Genius Exteriors for a roof installation, but the experience has turned into a $3,100 nightmare. During the install, a nail was driven into our AC refrigerant line, causing the air conditioning for the entire upstairs to fail. The HVAC technician confirmed the cause was a roofing nail. I provided full documentation of the damage and a repair quote from FH Furr to the company on March 24, 2026. Since then, I have been given the runaround. After hearing nothing and sending a follow up email on April 13, 2026 I finally spoke with Project Manager John M. on April 15, 2026 who told me he would consult with their Regional Executive, Trey G., and get back to me. It has now been over a month since my initial claim and several weeks since my last conversation with John M. (I never heard back from him or Trey G.). Despite a follow-up email on April 25, 2026 stating my intent to escalate this, the company went dark on me. After receiving a formal demand letter from me they tried calling but when I texted and asked to receive communication in writing via email I did not hear back. A professional installation should account for standard line placement - "inadvertent" does not excuse negligence--especially since they have engaged in a month-long communication breakdown. I am extremely disappointed that a company would cause significant damage to a customer's home and then stop communicating. I will update this review if the situation significantly changes. Selection: I got 3 roof quotes for some suspected moisture…read moreinvasion and roof issues discovered by another contractor. Both We Get High and V&K gave me around the same quote for a total roof replacement (around 8k, not including plywood prices) and Summit quoted me an eye watering 24k (including materials). I went with V&K for several reasons: - The two workers who arrived were knowledgeable about the roof, patiently looked at the areas I was most worried about, and called the office immediately to discuss their findings - I really enjoyed how attentive and quick the quote process was; Karol was great to work with - I was treated with respect as a female homeowner and nobody asked to speak to my husband (which is often times a problem) The results: From both a house inspection and other contractors, I knew that the roof I have was potentially not done by pros, and there were more problems than expected: - All the facia had to be replaced because of rotting and water ingress - The infrastructure underneath the plywood was shoddy/nonexistent and V&K added extensive plywood support underneath - They also did all the vents and flashing and the ... metal cover things underneath the eaves - The plywood costs were already going to cost around 4.5k but the additional facia costs were an unexpected addition. The total came to about 14k. I have a huge, flat-ish roof, and the price compared to other homeowners and people I spoke to, sounded about right. That said, Karol's team also replaced all my gutters with the facia and were incredibly considerate about all the other things I didn't even think to worry about, and I felt like they threw in a lot of things that were not explicitly charged (2x4 plywood for infrastructure etc) - You can hear each shingle nailed in with precisely 6 nails each - Karol supervised all the work carefully - They swept all the work area with magnets to make sure I wouldn't step on a rusty nail or pop a tire on them, I really appreciated the careful cleanup - Everyone was incredibly hard working and efficient, there were no long lulls or breaks for days so I didn't have to worry about the weather - The team documented all the roofwork in pictures so I can see what was done, when I get a chance I'll clean them of EXIF data and post it I'm very pleased with the job with the team and will be recommending them to all my neighbors. Also, as a security person I want to mention some older reviews where it looks like there were a few victims to impersonation scams--if you read my other reviews this has been happening to lots of legitimate businesses in the area, including two restaurants that I frequent. A few tips: - Always meet with contractors in person at least once - Have a signed contract and negotiate the work in detail - Check that the phone number you use for Zelle matches the yelp profile - Ask for proof of insurance--again, match the company you're working with, with the proof of insurance - Zelle payments will hold the funds for 3 business days, so pay the deposit immediately before workers arrive (and rescind payment if they delay--you can always pay them again later) - Be mindful of your monthly maximum for the Zelle payment (it's a rolling max so in the worst case scenario you wouldn't be able to finish paying for your whole roof replacement unless you use a second account, or a check) Is this fool proof? No, there will always be very smart conmen but I can attest that this is a legitimate business and they did legitimate (good quality) work for me.

Quality work at a fair price with great customer service…read more After we noticed water damage on the bedroom ceiling in our townhouse, we read the reviews and, called Low Cost Roofing (LCR). Rolando was able to come over the following day. He performed a thorough interior and exterior inspection of our roof and clearly documented the issues including providing pictures. He clearly explained our options and the benefits and costs of each of them. We chose to have our roof completely replaced. He sent a crew over the following morning to temporarily repair the problem. And, we were able to schedule the work within a week. He and his crew completed the roof in a single day. They were extremely professional. Rolando provide a full set of before and after pictures and the crew left the area around our townhouse cleaner than they found it. He also arranged for a contractor to perform the necessary interior repairs which were completed the following week. We were very satisfied with the work Rolando and his crew did on our townhouse and we strongly recommend Rolando and LCR to anyone in the DMV area who is dealing with roof-related issues.

RESPONSIVENESS - very fast, very responsive, very professional. A tad too frequent, but apparently roof repair is a competitive business. INSPECTION - scheduled and conducted efficiently; exceptionally thorough inspection report (David). COST - in line with all other quotes, which are apparently driven by the insurance estimate. Green Oak differentiation included owner interaction, master roofer certification, 5 star rating, excellent warranty, professional documentation and workflow management. WORK - scheduled efficiently, material arrived on time the day before, crew arrived on time the day of, work was conscientious and completed in 3/4 day (townhome), clean-up (including loose nail hunt) was impressively thorough. AFTER - received certificate of completion in a timely manner, along with photo record of repaired roof. Not being a roofer, it's difficult to assess the integrity of the new roof & shingles, however the end result appears clean and professional. Suspect the new, high-quality roof will increase the townhome value and/or decrease time to sell based on the high-quality products used and overall curb appeal of the work. Overall quite satisfied with Green Oak. Recommend.

I reached out to Green Oak after searching on Yelp (s/o), and was extremely glad I did. Brian H. took me through the process from start to finish, including an insightful explanation of the insurance claim process. The free estimate happened within a few days and ended up being lower than the insurance-assessed quote. He recommended a roof "tune up" as part of the package without pushing or trying to upsell me for more, which i really appreciated. He also accommodated my inquiry of adding on the installation of a bathroom exhaust vent cap, which was missing when we moved in. After being extremely reasonable on pricing and lighting-fast on responses, they scheduled and completed the work the day after signing. The team was efficient and respectful, with a huge attention to detail. TL;DR - Highly recommend giving Brian and Green Oak Exteriors a shot to help fix your home exterior issues, especially when you are in a bind with your insurance company!
