First of all, they lied about taking photos beforehand. The install caused water damage, wall damage, stair damage, and door damage. They then continued to lie about the fact they had taken these photos. If they did, where are they? They don't exist. I however, have over 26 photos of the damage they did cause. Second, the "manager" is a huge douche who's only job is to deny and lie. Don't use this company whatever you do. Today was a good day. I spent the last few days treading through the labyrinth of finding a reliable replacement water heater for my home. The dreaded decision of having to negotiate a deal, that for the sake of argument is usually a no win scenario. Well, the journey was long and full of the anticipated challenges. What type to buy, gas, electric, solar, tank, tankless or hybrid. Then the question of prices, size, and output, the actual water heaters these days are basically the same among the top competitors. Years ago, one would expect to get 15-20+ years of service out of a reliable unit purchased from the local department store. I.E. Sears & Roebuck, F.W. Woolworth, Montgomery Wards. Or, like so many would just go to the local hardware store, where Bob, John or even Harry would hook you up. They not only sold you their brand, but also installed and provided a service warranty at a reasonable but fair competitive market price. Fast forward to the 21st century. Deregulation and lots of competitive prices with a range in prices from $250 (cheap) to $10,000 (absurd). Then there's the installation charge, state rebates, upgraded state codes, safety certificates, extended warranty. And don't forget you pay to recycle your old junk. Angi's List and Home Improvement. Been There Done That. I boiled it down to Home Depot, Lowe's and San Diego @Water Heaters Only". Made a grid, listed and compared all the +/- . Then I ask a ton of questions. Finally, I called Shawn at SDWHO his approach was rather straightforward and relaxed. So I decided to give them a try. I confirmed the appointment about 10AM and was given a 2-4 hour appointment window, same day, great! The technician, named Danny arrived on time and explained in detail everything I could possibly ask about the product and its functionality. I let him go about the process of removing the old unit and I preparing for the new unit, with all the minor modifications that state codes required. Danny was amazing as a technician and he had a friendly personality that instilled confidence and at the same time pride in his work. His attention to detail matched my own high expectations. This company was sent out by Fidelity Home Warranty to fix my parents busted water heater. They refused to replace or even fix it under the warranty even though it was clearly broken and not working. This is definitely the place to go for a water heater replacement. Ours was doing a slow leak, so it wasn't an emergency, I had a few days to call around for quotes. Our usual plumber and other well-known places were giving us quotes up to $3,600. I think they were up-selling us, trying to tell us they would have to replace the earthquake straps, and all the pipes and connections, which was not necessary. I, myself was told the Water heater with install would cost $1800.00+ I, myself then asked, about breakdown of Waterheater and Install costs. Our water heater blew out and flooded the garage on Friday. We got the water and gas to the heater shut off and started calling around. We found Water Heaters Only, Inc. in Santee listed on Angie's List with excellent reviews, so we decided to give them a call. They said they could come out the next day (Sat) and have us back in hot water that same day. Based on the size of our water heater alone, they gave us an estimated quote range of $1,200 - $1,500 over the phone. We agreed. They called Sat morning and said the technician, Patrick, should arrive between 11am-1pm. Patrick arrived at ~12pm, quickly assessed the situation, and quoted me $1,559. I was disappointed that the amount he quoted was just above the top end of the quote range we were given over the phone, but Patrick explained that was based just on the size of our old water heater, and he was strongly recommending that he replace the water lines and gas line that would connect to the new heater, and that he change the earthquake bracing to pull the tank against a single wall rather than into the corner like our old tank was braced. He also said we needed a heater drip pan per code. I agreed and Patrick started the work. Patrick was no-nonsense, polite, he worked very efficiently, and the quality of the work he did was excellent. He was done by 2pm and we had hot water by 2:30pm. :) I'd use Water Heaters Only again in a heartbeat. Water Heaters Only quoted me about 1600 for replacement of my water heater. I explained that I had to de-install it, do some repair, then re-install it at a later time. They quoted me $260ish for the de-install and a $100 credit if I choose them for the install. They didn't really ask me much and I didn't know what to share. Pat showed up and immediatly said the price was too low because a valve needed to be replaced. He sad the valve replacement would cost an extra $100. The the labor was still under an hour and a ball valve costs very little. Randy credited me $60 for the miss-communication so I was only out an extra $40. I had the drywall removal guys coming the next day so I was stuck. Next, Pat said his truck was full and he can't fit my water heater and disposal wasn't included. WHAT!? They said if hired them to do the install then they would take my old heater back at that time. They then offerred me a new quote for the install which was $1,859, minus $100 credit so $1,759. This new quote was more expensive than the original quote even though I'd already paid them for the de-install. Pros: 1. Randy was nice. He listened and worked with me. Cons: 1. They give quotes over the phone then show up and say they don't quote over the phone. Then, the quote is significantly higher. It's also higher than every other quote I got from every other plumber. Conclusion: They're overpriced and you don't know the quality water heater you're going to get. Home Depot beat their price by $300, took away my old heater, 12 year warranty, and a far superior heater than what these guys install. read more

Urgent situations like these can be stressful but he came out within an hour of us calling WHO and within another couple hours had the new heater all ready to go. Aja was so flexible, even when we had to put him on standby so we could sort our a mess with our terrible property manager. He completely accommodated our situation and once he had the green light, we had hot water again in our home within 2 hours.
