My generator would not start well, and I dropped a screw into the case, so I contacted Washington Electric. Instead of coming ready to disassemble the generator and fix the issues, as I expected, the technician arrived, looked around, said "yep we need to remove the screws", charged me $169.95 + tax. It would save a lot of time and money, if he did that on the spot, but he was not ready to do that, so I said ok. Next visit, the technician supposedly knows what to expect. He comes, does a little disassembly, removes one screw, fails to remove the other. Instead of doing the job on the spot, tells me he does not have all the necessary things and time to do that, and leaves. And charges me $334.95 tax. How was it my fault that he did not have the time and the tools, hard to say. Now I am supposed to call again, have another visit, pay extra for the third trip. So I am down $540, and not much closer to the solution. What is more, I am not even sure now, that next time technician will have enough time and equipment to finish the job on the spot, and may not need a few more trips, charging me $169 for the first hours of course The good news is that after the technician left I was able to remove the second screw. So only thing left now is to see why it does not start easily, and assemble it. So I asked them to wave the extra fee for the next visit, and they would not do it. Called another company, they came with enough time and tools to do the job, fixed it and left. read more

We just installed generator, they have bad attitude and won't take shoes off when do in house inspection for faulty circuit. We bought warranty, right next day after installation we had faulty circuit in family room, it was always working before in family room when we use hair dryer. But after installation, the family room lights all went dark when we attempted use hair dryer, but worst yet, the panel of circuit breaker jumper didn't even jump or turn off. When we called Washington generator technician over, they insisted it has nothing to do with their installation. They said that has nothing to do with them and carry a bad attitude, a guy Kurt said that circuit meltdown is coincidental, he has ver bad attitude and yelled and threatened to charge us even we bought three years warranty and we just have them installed weeks ago. And the wall jet melted because of electricity volume over. But their installed panel didn't even have circuit breaker switch off for safety reason . Extremely bad service and irresponsible company and technician. read more

Eric is fantastic! I got some estimates on doing a manual transfer switch for my home so that I could run it on a generator when the power would go out. I went with Washington Electric and have been pleased that I did! He not only wired my home, with a nice plug for the gene, but Eric put in some GFI's and was kind enough to mark my electrical box so I knew clearly which switches controlled which items in my home. He also put in an outside light for me. When we had the ice storm last week (2012) I called in just to request that Eric walk me through the steps of turning on the generator, he called back and did just that. He is reliable and a great electrician. I can't say enough about how great this company is and have continually recommended them to friends and family. read more

I purchased and had installed an 8KW standby generator through Costco. From the time that Eric came to my home to provide an estimate until completion, the process was painless and professional. On the day of installation (one of the coldest days of the year), the technicians arrived on time, early in fact, and explained the entire process to me. Throughout the day, they communicated what they were doing, when the power and/or gas would be turned off and finished ahead of schedule. I was instructed on how the generator worked and all of my questions were answered. The technicians did a great job of cleaning up. The inspector came several days later. When he opened up the transfer box, even he was impressed. It was very neat and orderly with all switches labeled. If you go through Costco to purchase your generator, know that the time between the estimate and installation will be lengthy. There is paperwork and a process that Washington Electric and Costco do behind the scenes (permits, purchase orders). One of the benefits of the Costco purchase is Costco provides you with a Costco cash card for 10% of your purchase. I am looking forward to this benefit!! read more

I had my generator installed on 8/24/2016. It was a pleasure working with Eric and his team. Kurt did our install and I was very impressed with his work. I was patient with me and answered all my questions. He provided us with plenty of warning as to when the electricity would go out. He was careful and ensured that the right circuits were included in the generator panel. Lastly, he was clean, neat and his work was tidy. This past weekend, the electrical inspector came and he was very impressed with the quality of the work. He commented, "I wish all electricians took this kind of pride in their work." I wish I could give them less than 1 stars. We had Washington Electric out after the appliance repair person told us there was nothing wrong with our dryer even tho it was shutting off the breaker. Washington Electric came out and did diagnostics and said the electrical was fine, even tho the breaker kept tripping. Based on this professional expertise, we purchased a new dryer. Immediately after being installed, our brand new dryer tripped the breaker and shut off. While the technicians that came out were friendly, Eric, the owner was defensive and extremely rude. I told Eric I wanted someone out immediately to fix the problem. I also suggested that he contact Home Depot to get my 5 year old, perfectly good dryer, back, or reimburse us for the $850 dryer we didn't need. Eric was incredibly unprofessional. Eric told me industry standards dictated that if the problem was intermittent, then extensive diagnostics would be needed and he didn't know that was the problem. They knew exactly what the problem was the first time they came out, I had to give them the reason for the visit- the dryer shuts off and trips the breaker. Reset the breaker, dryer starts but then shuts off again. I spoke to a contractor who's been in the business for over 40 years who outlined how the job should've been handled. The breaker should've been replaced the first time out. Period. The last technician who came out even said he might reuse the breaker because it looked fine! Are you kidding!!! I would never use this company again and strongly recommend that no one else does either! If changing a breaker is too difficult for them, probably best to go with a real professional. read more

Eric came out the day after I called for an estimate. He gave me an estimate and some suggestions to help keep costs down. We set an appointment for a month later since I was going to be gone. They arrived on time. Kurt (KIRK) and Tyler. They were very likable. They checked to make sure we were on the same page, walked through the house with me to mark off sockets to be replaced, and took my input on where to route grounding wires since this was a complete update and changes needed to be made. They didn't rush, and with the challenges my house presented spent about eight hours doing the change out. They cleaned up, took payment, showed me what they had done, and left having done a great job. read more

I have nothing but praise for Washington Electric. I was referred to them through Tesla for the installation of a 240V/50A circuit. I sought several bids for the project, not only were they the least expensive, but the level of contact and communication were noticeable better than the competition. Out of the box thinkers. One of our other contractors bailed out on us to install 2 new chandeliers in our condo. We contacted Washington Electric (Eric Johnson) and he was at our condo in less than an hour. He came in and gave us his best quote which was reasonable. He had some very creative ideas on how to install a chandelier in a condo without tearing the sheet rock. By the end of his service, I had a 2 new chandeliers with a remote control for one of them to switch between a spotlight and a chandelier. Eric was very patient to install the remote control receiver in the chandelier. His service was clean, I had to vacuum a bit but overall great job. Love the chandeliers and we could have them installed before our dinner party the same night. Found Washington Electric through Angie's list and contacted them to do an electrical walk through of our home. We had just moved back into it after having rented it out for several years and there were some issues with a couple of the outlets. Eric came out, tested all the outlets, light switches, and inspected the electrical box. He talked me through some of the repairs that he suggested and offered a number of options of how I might approach some of them (for example, one of the outlets is dead and there are a variety of ways to approach fixing it, all of which have various costs and implications associated with them. We discussed options and I've hired him to come back out and make the repairs. This is the second time I've worked with Washington Electric, and I will continue to use their services. I contacted Eric at Washington Electric for a new home generator. He was quick to set up an appointment, showed up on time and spent over an hour with me discussing the project. We went ahead with the new generator and added a new electrical panel for the house as well. The install went great. Eric and his team showed up on time and stayed late to get everything working for us. We were adding a new gas furnace and heat pump near the same time so we used them for that electrical work as well. There was a lot of coordinating with the HVAC company to make sure they were on the same page with what needed to be done and everything went smoothly. Again, the work went longer than they had expected but they stayed late to get everything up and going so that we weren't without heat for the night. WA Electric was professional and curious while in my home. They worked clean and fast. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for electrical work. They were great to work with. As a Real Estate agent I rely on contractors coming when they say and doing what they say. This was a three strikes your out situation. 1- After scheduling an appointment for a set time and being requested that they show the buyer how the system works they did not come at that time but came on their own schedule even after confirming the time twice. 2- We rescheduled for a time when a tech with the parts & ability to make repairs could be there and he came with no parts (simple fuse) 3- He told me he would run and get one that day for $110 just for me to shortly thereafter get an email saying it would be a week out and that the price would actually be $200. This cost my client money and risked us not closing on time. DO NOT CALL! read more

Do not use this company!!! I hired them to repair a Generac generator. And I chose this company because of the Yelp reviews. I paid $250 for repairs and was told that my generator was up and running and weekly test runs would now work perfectly. 12 hours later, the test run started but my generator would not start. I tried starting it manually, and it would not run. When I contacted the company, they indicated they would not come back out for repairs because the technician indicated my generator was not installed properly. My generator had always run just fine until my husband put too much oil in it. Now they won't stand behind their work and to,d me I need to pay for another service call. Not only did they tell me this, but the customer service person did this through email - NOT A PHONE CALL! If you use this company, be prepared to lose money! Terrible customer service! read more

After being out of town for several days, I came home to find that the power had gone out in some areas of my house. When I tried to reset the circuit breaker, I realized that there was water leaking from between the circuits. (There had been a huge rain storm while I was gone.) I called Washington Electric and spoke with Eric. He came to my home within the hour and repaired my problem. He also caulked around the exterior electrical box to prevent future leaks.
