Still freaking awesome! Our old 21 year old Payne furnace finally began a death spiral, issuing loud and scary backfires. This would literally shake the house a bit, as it was the old burners not firing correctly. We could have replaced them, but when you consider the work to be done, the ordering, and everything else--what if we had to just replace this old furnace anyway next year? I called up Accurate again. They wouldn't have had time to install a replacement furnace yesterday (January 21), we were going to be stuck without heat for a 10 month old baby. Their earliest available install window was Thursday, January 24, when I called. That would have left us without heat for days. They immediately began re-arranging schedules and jobs, and got Kent yesterday to scope out what we need at the end of the day and fixed their job orders so that we could get the furnace today--days early. Unbelievable service there! They ended up ordering a slightly too powerful furnace for us as well, for the size of our house, and he realized this as he did the math on our old unit and the duct work we had (it's a forced air system). They immediately got another unit ordered--all this no cost to us--and set us up for the install to finish today, the 22nd. Kent then quickly figured out the exact sequence and way in which the backfire was happening, and deduced it was safe to manually run the furnace "by hand". As long as it turned over fine right away, it was OK. They figured out a safe way to run the old furnace for a spell to top us off, and then even let us borrow a couple of space heaters for our bedrooms last night. Damned good ones, too. I don't think we've all slept that cozy in a while. Kent and Patrick showed up at 8am today, and were just a storm of awesome good humor, knowledge, and crazy efficiency. Old furnace got ripped out for recycle; they cleaned out the ducting and exhausts; we all discovered a poor dead robin whose nest had fallen into the chimney shaft to rest against the exhaust last summer reduced to a dessicated bird jerky; they dropped in an aluminum chimney liner and cap; hooked up the new unit to the new duct work that Derek from Accurate installed for us last year; cleaned up everything; tested it, and were gone by 1pm. AND they went and modified the previous duct work to put on a better door for accessing the filters. The new furnace is powerful and quiet so far. 1/3 the size of our old one and nearly 1/3 again as efficient and strong. With that, and a couple tips from them on adjusting some open heat exchangers--our house also doesn't have the most efficient ducting--our upstairs bedrooms now get a lot more heat and air output than they did on the old furnace. Terry and crew did a fantastic job. I hadn't ever changed my filter. Yes. Seriously. When they turned it on there were actual flames coming out of the hole where the metal broke because of the blocked filter. "Well, that's not good" (Terry, the king of understatement) I'm so glad I had a bad feeling and hadn't turned on my heat yet this year. I could have burned my house down. All of this to say CHANGE YOUR FILTER EVERY 3 MONTHS and stay safe And to say they did a great job. They needed to order a part and Lou Anne who runs the office did everything she could to get it fast and have it on the warranty. She cared a great deal about me and my rescue parrots being warm as fast as possible I saw a couple of reviews saying Lou Anne isn't friendly. She may come off like that but she is just very busy and straightforward and good at her job. She and Terry both went out of their way for me and the two others in the crew I met were very professional. Oh, and they brought in space heaters to tide me over! read more

These guys answered the phone, EVERY TIME. the dispatcher did everything to confirm we couldnt easily fix our HVAC ourselves, then the tech showed up exactly on time . We were out of town when our tenant had a problem with the furnace. Although they were busy Terry came out the same day and replaced a part. That night it was not working at all and Terry and crew came out right away and replaced the defective new part and didn't leave until they were sure it was working properly . I've heard that Terry is fantastic, that is, if you can get ever get a hold of him. I've spoken with the office person over 10 times, been put on the schedule twice, two no-shows. Never even a phone call. He did work for the previous owners of my home where he put his work under warranty and now no show, no call back. How can you do business with this company when they pretty much shoo you out the door? Does it depend on your luck of the draw as to who answers the phone? I agree with some of the other posters - the woman I spoke with on the phone, in the most unfriendly tone possible, listed all of the reasons why they couldn't install a new furnace for me: 1) They have a big job which is creating time restraints (that part actually makes sense to me, even though I told her I was willing to wait); 2) she told me that they aren't going to be a cost leader (even though I'm interested in many variables including cost) 3) She told me that I shouldn't bother to wait for them to do an estimate because it will take awhile for them to get to me (even though I mentioned that I can wait) 4) She referred me to Greenwood Heating (where I have already received an estimate). Unhelpful! After saying, "Ok, well it sounds like you aren't looking for new business?" she pretty much agreed and wished me on my way. I am so confused. All of these great reviews, yet such awful customer interface over the phone. I left the conversation feeling like I failed to solve their riddle. HUH??? I can't say enough great things about Terry and his team! My general contractors left my house in an unlivable state with a half functioning HVAC system. After numerous attempts to find a HVAC contractor to come in last minute to address a major inspection issue, Terry went completely out of his way using his personal network to find someone that can come in with very short notice. I read the Yelp reviews, and then called Accurate after my furnace crapped out last night. They had a tech out here first thing this morning and I'm now typing this with warm fingers. He gave me detailed information about why my furnace broke and what the future road map should be for repairs--I won't get into the story but there are notorious problems with my model of furnace apparently. He probably could've easily talked me into replacing it but instead has recommended a course that could have me keeping this furnace for another 15 years. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I will have them back for servicing and any other gas/furnace/water heater work I might need. And PS I think when you call a company and they are very honest with you about what they do and don't do, that doesn't warrant a one-star review in my book. Just sayin'. read more

My 20+ year old residential AC unit went out and I called Accurate based off of their yelp reviews. They did not disappoint! Not only were they able to come out the same day, but the technician was professional, friendly and quick with his repairs. He also talked with me about general maintenance/things a homeowner can do to help extend the life of their AC unit. Considering the fact that this company makes money on an hourly rate (lowest in my area), they sure didn't jerk me around and quickly fixed the problem. Our heater gave out on the coldest night of December 2009, naturally. When we woke up to a cold house, I called Accurate (based on the two previous Yelp reviews of this business). They were hammered with calls, of course, but Terry and Alex showed up at 8:15 p.m. and got the heater running. They returned later to do a more complete service and repair. And the price was super-reasonable (less than $400). By way of comparison, we had the heater serviced by Washington Natural Gas one year earlier and were told that the entire furnace needed replacement - at a cost of $6,400. Wow! I am so impressed with their customer service. I have been calling around to get rough estimates on replacing our very dead 15 year old packaged unit heat pump and I was getting nowhere. When I called Accurate they were not sure they could help me either, but they took down my info and model and serial numbers of our heat pump and would look into what we would need. They called me back within a couple hours letting me know what we did need in order to get our heat pump replace the most economical way possible, emailed me that info, and apologized for not being able to order the heat pump we need. Then they gave us referrals for other companies in the area that probably could. That was so far above and beyond for someone who is not a customer I was just blown away. If we ever have issues with our new heat pump, they are going to be our first call! read more

I called about a duct that had come disconnected from my furnace, and Lu Ann scheduled someone to come out the same day! Jover was friendly and efficient, and had our issue fixed in under an hour. They emailed me an invoice, which I was able to settle via phone with a card. So happy for the quick service and the reasonable rates! read more

I called to have someone check the furnace as it was acting up. Jover came on Friday and diagnosed the issue (I already knew what the problem was and he agreed). He was here for less than an hour before leaving and telling me that he had to order parts and would be back on Monday. Lu Ann calls on Monday and says that Jover is on his way. I ask her what the estimate would be as I didn't get a quote or anything from Jover. She talks to someone and then tells me around $400-$500. Jover comes with the new parts and spends 40 minutes at the house before the problem is fixed and tested. A few days later I get the bill and it is for over $600. They charged a $45 travel fee which was not disclosed prior to them coming to the house. Plus they charged 2 hours of time at a rate of $110 per hour for Jover to come and diagnose the problem. They did not tell me that they would charge just to have someone diagnose the problem. Normally, as other HVAC companies I talked to, they let you know BEFORE they come out that you will be charged just to have someone come and take a look. Then they charged for 2 MORE hours for the day that Jover came back to replace the parts even though he was here for only 40 minutes. I emailed Lu Ann twice letting her know that I don't agree with the labor charges of 4 hours ($440) since Jover wasn't even here for 2 hours total. Guess what? No reply. It's funny how fast they will reply when they're trying to get your business, but don't reply when you have questions about your bill. I told her that I would agree to 2 hours of labor (even though it wasn't 2 whole hours). I have yet to receive a reply. And here I thought I finally found a trustworthy HVAC business! This is not a customer service oriented business. Based upon the yelp reviews I called for a quote, I spoke with a woman who insisted she did not need to come out to discuss a furnace replacement. I explained that I needed some duct work replaced and an additional two vents added. She proceeded to tell me that would be really hard to do and asked if I was a handy man or knew someone who could do the work. I told her I wasn't interested and hung up. This group may be fine for a furnace replacement but don't bother if you need a real heating company to do any work, these guys don't get it. read more

I can't say enough bad things about my experience with this company. Terry, the owner seems like a stand up guy, but Luann, and the other staff are completely unprofessional. They installed a hvac system in my retail space, and delayed my opening date because they didn't know how to install it properly. A year later, I find out they had not installed a drain, so the unit was leaking all over, and through the garage floor. Finally came up with a solution to remedy it. I was waiting for approval from the building on the fix, and I finally hear back that it's ok. Wanted to replace a 30+ year old, converted from oil, gas furnace. Terry came out and told me that we could probably get several more years out of the old beast. After I told him I wanted it replaced, he gave me several options - all of which were more than $1000 less than a previous bid. These guys are the best. My business partners and I own a commercial building. When one of our HVAC units went out we called 3 different companies for bids. Because our units are not easy to access-in the attic 10 feet above a work area, I had never actually seen our 3 HVAC units. Terry was the only guy in 7 years and 4 different companies servicing our units to suggest bringing outside (fresh) air in with some ducting. So in addition to our new HVAC unit we now have fresh air coming in-for the same price the other companies bid just to put in a new unit. He and his crew all worked around our crazy work schedule so that we didn't have to close down business--arriving at 5 am some mornings. Believe the hype. These guys are real. Patrick came in on time - early actually - but their office called first to make sure it's ok to show up an hour ahead of schedule. Although we change the furnace filter on a regular basis, we never did keep up with regular maintenance the last 10 yrs or so. Patrick checked it out - did his thing and was done in about an hour and a half. No up-selling, no pressure, fair pricing, very professional and polite. I'm a costumer for life. I've been doing business with Accurate for many years. They installed gas lines in my new house, installed a gas stove, tankless water heater, outdoor electrical outlets, and a brand new heat pump AC system in our studio. They are very generous and help disadvantaged people in the community, also artists spaces, etc they are not just in it for the money, which these days is very refreshing especially since insatiable greed is a new way of life for many. I know several business owners who use them regularly as well, Terry is highly experienced in the practical day to day experiences required to do these complicated jobs. hottest week ever in seattle & it turns out our a/c doesn't work! okay, so i didn't actually hire these guys but that's mainly because terry wanted to save us both the hassle & actually walked me through some diagnostics over the phone. sure, i wasn't able to fix it on my own but man, the fact that he was willing to patiently walk me through whatever i could do on my own was just super nice. he even recommended a hvac place to me because he knows that they're good & that i might have a better chance of getting someone to come out (all the hvac guys are slammed right now). clearly, this guy isn't out to make a quick buck - he's seems more like the sort of guy that just wants to make sure you don't die of heatstroke. terry, you're tops in my book. read more

I don't often write these but after the amazing service Accurate H&E provided I felt compelled to do so. I noticed my AC was leaking Friday afternoon so I called them around 3:30 pm. I expected them to tell me they could have someone one the following week which would have been fine, after all it's what everyone else was saying. But the person I spoke to helped me diagnose the problem while I was on the phone then he found a technician with the part on the truck. The technician was already heading home for the weekend but he turned around, fought Seattle traffic, and worked until 6:30 pm to fix the problem so I'd have AC for the weekend. They even called me on Monday to follow up. It was service I didn't expect but will make me a customer for life. Thanks, guys and girls! read more

As I sit here enjoying the perfect temperature and non-sound of my Fujitsu Mini-Split Heat Pump/AC, I feel compelled to jot down a few lines about Terry, Lou Ann and the helpful and skilled staff at Accurate. I called them in the middle of the crazy Seattle heat wave, when you couldn't buy a fan or window unit within a 500 mile radius of the Emerald City. They found a way to work us into the schedule, and they wouldn't quit until the job was done exactly right--showing patience as we debated placement of the outside condenser unit, making sure the unit passed all working tests and cleaning up thoroughly when the job was done. My electric ignition died on my gas furnace. I called Accurate at about 11:00am on a Thursday. They said they might not make it till Friday, then called back around noon. LuAnn (who answers the phone) has proven to be very honest and helpful as well. She suggested to us to have Puget Sound Energy inspect our old furnace that was on the fritz for free rather than charging us to have them look at it. Wow. One evening our furnace made a horrendous sound and we quickly had to shut it off. Since it is January, we did not want to go without heat for long. We phoned Accurate early-afternoon and someone was at our house just after 5pm. Not only did they respond quickly, their service was outstanding. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. Best service around. First tried to help over the phone to see if it was something they could walk me through over the phone and fix it myself. It wasn't an easy fix and would need a part. This was on Saturday and we chose to wait and schedule a week day appt. as the rate was cheaper. They not only came out on Sunday with the part and fixed it, but did it while the Seahawks game was going on - and only charged us the weekday rate. Honest, helpful and never talked down to me. AWESOME furnace repair and amazing customer service. Terry the owner, LuAnn the dispatcher, and the technician sent out to help us were all fantastic. Super responsive, super competent, good natured, AND incredibly fair (to the point of inexpensive) pricing. Our 60 year old electric forced air furnace conked out on a freezing cold New Year's Eve (thanks, furnace). After leaving a message on New Year's Day night, Terry called me back immediately and said he would have someone out first thing this morning. I recently had a furnace that was turning off before reaching the temperature set on the thermostat, and/or not turning on at all. I called Accurate and they sent out one of there technicians, Armando, to try and find the problem. I could tell that Armando was knowledgeable and trying hard to find the issue, finally calling Goodman to discuss the symptoms. Goodman advised him to replace the circuit panel and I think the heat exchanger under our warranty, which he did on the next visit. Unfortunately, this didn't fix our issue. To add to the problem, the furnace would seem to kick on and start working correctly about the time the technician showed up, of course! That is the point where I believe a lot of companies could fall short. But with Accurate Heating & Electrical, they took a situation that could have been frustrating and really came through for me. Terry, the owner, ultimately came out and made it his mission to find the problem. It turns out that a component of my furnace relating to moisture drainage had not originally been installed correctly. Water wasn't draining out properly, which caused the furnace to shut off prematurely, or not turn on at all (I might be butchering my description of the issue) I'm not an expert in furnaces, but it sounded like a tricky problem. We all wish that when we call someone to look into a problem, that it's an easy fix that takes an hour and doesn't cost much. I had people out to look at this issue before, and didn't call them back because I could tell the problem was above their heads. With Accurate Heating, it took some work to find the problem, but they stepped up to the plate and fixed my problem promptly during a busy time of the year. Accurate is the best!!! My heater went out and they came out the next morning:) Patrick the technician was on time (4 minutes early actually). He was very professional and explained the problem that I had a faulty igniter. He diagnosed the problem immediately and fix within the first hour. My total bill? $238. That includes the service call ($45); labor ($95) and the ignitor ($72) plus tax ($20). Heat, priceless!!!! I called to inquire about an issue relating to my gas fireplace. A rep asked me to send pictures which I did. She looked at them right away and offered helpful advice. However, I have not heard back from my Dec 9 response and even called back. I'm sure they are extra busy this time of year but it's disappointing to be dismissed/forgotten. read more
