I am so surprised by these low reviews on Yelp. I just recently discovered this place right near JHU and have been twice. I'm in love! You can get a basic interior and exterior wash for $13.99 [plus $2 for trucks] and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Everyone there so far has been nice and I have been very pleased with the quality. Plus it was slammed, which is a good sign, but it was still super quick. They have tons of people working. I went today with a car completely covered in bird poo from last night. It was a mess. They got everything off in no time, and I only paid for the basic wash. This place blows Canton Car Wash out of the water. At Canton, it takes 30 minutes, costs $25 for a basic interior/exterior and I am always left seeing things they missed. I will never go back there again after finding wash works! read more

They say the fact that the place is often packed is an indication of it being good? Nope. It's an indication of how few other options there are in the area. The same reason they can get away with closing if there's the remotest chance of rain (not to mention every Sunday), being rude, and doing a mediocre job at cleaning cars. They're so petty they won't even combine their loyalty punch card things if you forget yours and end up with two. Every aspect of how they run this business seems almost designed to annoy and frustrate the customer. I was mystified until I tried to find another comparable establishment. :-/ Sadly, I haven't found one yet. I'll probably end up caving and going back to these jerks. I went to Wash Works upon recommendation of a co-worker. I usually go to Canton Car Wash but since we were having brunch in Hampden, I figure I'd try it. The line seemed pretty long which is probably typical of a weekend but they were very efficient. I was in and out of there in about 20 minutes. The reason I gave them 3 stars was the quality of work. There was lint from the towels all over my front windshield and water drops still on my side mirror. Also, there were a few bird stains not completely wiped off. Overall, my car looks better than it did before it was washed but not as good as other car washes I've been to. Great efficiency, poor quality. read more

I should have trusted the reviews before making the trip. I called first and was told i needed to arrive before 4:45 to be seen the same day. I got there at 4:40 and was turned away by a rude guy named tony. He said the clerk at the desk would never tell anyone that info and I must have heard her wrong. If I had a problem I could take it up with the clerk. I went inside and the clerk went bananas!!! It was so bad that I just laughed. I tried speaking with the guy outside but he advised that I just needed someone to yap to and he was too busy. The service is horrible. I was giving my car to my nephew last December and I asked them to remove a bumper sticker. I had paid for the $34 service and wanted the car to look sharp without the worn out bumper sticker. The Spanish worker went to get a supervisor who informed me that they do not perform that service in cold weather. I was shocked and explained what and why. He was outright rude in his second refusal like I was a stupid pest. I went to the owner - tall fellow - and explained that I always buy his coupon books for my kids for Christmas and kindly reiterated my request to remove the sticker. He was ruder than the supervisor. I informed him I would never return and he said it is my choice. I think they must have too much slave labor making them so much money that they don't care to be polite to all customers. I went to Pep Boys and bought a small bottle of gum remover and had it off in 5 seconds. And I found a full service car wash - WHIZ - on Loch Raven a block south of Joppa Road for the rest of my business. Very polite owners that greet me as if I am appreciated. read more

Good service. Cleaned the outside and the inside well. I got the super works for $19.99. They forgot to shine the tires, which is included in the price. I reminded them so then they did that too. Overall good service. Fast after you are assigned a spot. Before getting to that point, the line is always very long. Hours are limited too. Good car wash though! read more

I went to wash Works today where I've been going for over 20 years since I moved to Baltimore. They refused to wash my new used Mazda 3 today because of the little speedometer plastic thing that flips up over the steering wheel. Apparently one of their employees broke one on a car and they had to pay to have it repaired. Because of this they refuse to do wash Mazda's and Tesla's. I asked him just to wash the outside of my car and not do the inside and they refused. I asked them to wax the car and have it done in the waxing area where somebody would be paying attention to it and they refused!!! Talk about customer service, NOT!!!!! I am a small business owner and and choose other businesses that are small business as well. So after 20 years it was time to find another car wash and I went to the Car wash on Eastern Avenue and they did an amazing job and had awesome customer service! read more

I can't believe this is my first time coming here. I went in there with my BMW for wheelworks because they convince me this has wax and wheel cleaning. I came out with ALL MY CARPETS MISSING and the managers and guys cleaning the car was so rude when I told them my carpets are missing!! All they told me was to calm down and that's it's impossible. That's what I said! I see their guys taking out carpets at the other end but they're positive mine wasn't removed. Then how the hell did it go missing!!! And when I told them I want to check their cameras, they were very aggressive and told me to sit and relax and that only employees are allowed to see the camera. This is a SHADY BUSINESS!! I just went there earlier today with quite the stain in my backseat. Spilt some Jamaican Jerk Curry chicken in my back seat and the tumeric is impossible to get out. I showed and explained the situation, and they took the time to try as hard as possible to clean it up. The stain is still there, but they did a great job. I really appreciated it. Not my favorite place to wash my case but unfortunately it's pretty reasonably priced. It's not like the uber frilly canton car wash but it does the job right. It sucks to not have a spigot at my house, but I suppose that's one of those things you can't always have in the city. If I had one, I'd wash my car at my house and not have to drive to Howard Street to have it done. Well, I don't go Wash Works all the time--the roll-through car wash at the gas station near my house gets the job done most times--but when I want things a little cleaner and the interior taken care of, this is the place I go. I mean, where else is there? There are a couple of reasons I don't give Wash Works 4 stars. First, it's expensive. Truly. Second, the guys who wipe the car down after it goes through the wash don't always do a very thorough job. Or at least that's been my experience recently. When I get home I usually have to take a cloth to get many excess water spots off the car. Maybe I'm being too picky and asking too much, but for the price I don't think I should have to do any touch-up work later. read more

The 1 star in my review is for the hard working immigrants at Wash Works who are doing the best they can and working hard under bad management. Also, my car is almost 20 years old and not taken seriously because of its age. I will admit that I didn't want to take the dismal reviews of this place seriously. My bad! I mistakenly chose the "Super Works Wash" for $49.99. After 30.00 minutes my car was ready to go... 1. I noticed a marked buzz coming from the inside of the car that was not there before. The SA said the sound was probably my muffler...really? It was coming from the top of the car. He said that all they do is use water, so they couldn't have done anything to make that sound happen. 2. Water was sorely lacking. What they did use was A LOT of Armor All or some slippery substance...all over the car including the pedals. I drive a stick, so that was slippery fun driving home. (When I got out of my car I almost slipped backwards and fell as the goop was all over the souls of my shoes.) I spent over half an hour...more time than was spent on my car at Wash Works...attempting to remove the slippery substance from the seatbelts, pedals, doors, radio, iPhone charger, windshild, dashboard, around the seats, and all of the cups and containers in the car. When I called to let them know that I was less then happy with their shoddy work, the SA said I must have asked for the "lotion" service. I was never asked anything of the kind. She seemed bored and apathetic leading me to believe that they are probably used to getting complaints. I just love this place! Today was my second visit to Wash Works, and it was completely worth it. I purchased the super clean option, and their team attacked each car with vigor and were very thorough. Both cars have never looked so good. At the onset, I was told it would be between 45 and 60 minutes, and the job was done in exactly 45 minutes. I'll be back! Definitely go there, if you need the job done right. read more

Everytime I go now it's either too crowded or they're selective about what services they do. The line is always up the block and people always try to cut the line. Once I asked for the top service but they couldn't do it because they had too many cars. The next time I went there wasn't a line at all but my car was too dirty for my usual service. Instead of charging me extra or suggesting a different service they told me to go to another carwash in Cockysville. I only live 5 mins away so I was going to go home and scrape the cookies that they complained about off of my seats. However, after years of going here I won't be returning. read more

Cars were lined up down the street waiting to take advantage, so I guess they must be good at what they do. Paid for a super works wash. I mean if the bare minimum was a service they offer this was it. I called after and they said I have to open my trunk to get it vacuumed. I have a hatch back it isn't a "closed" trunk. Also it would be nice to know this prior to service. They literally must have taken a napkin to the surfaces on the interior and the outside looks like it was cleaned by rain. I normally do this myself but had a plenty of things on the to do list today. If you have another service maybe someone local who actually pays a bit of attention use them. read more

I went through the line for a second time after the lady told me "I cut everyone off in the line". Then I go back around the block and stay in their ridiculous line only for them to barely vacuum my car. I asked the older guy to come over to my car so that he can see that they barely vacuumed and he started picking up the apparent particles from my vehicles floor. He then starts to tell me that his guys are tired and that I shouldn't come at the end of the day and did I see the line??? Huh? Are you kidding me!!! I informed him that this was happening and his response was" I am not anyone's babysitter I don't own the streets ". I replied you are the one directing traffic aren't you. I brought my car in today for a wash after storing it outside for the summer. I understood that the car was very dirty and that it would require extra effort to clean, so I bought the "Super Works" package ($19.99). When the car was ready (less than 20 minutes later!) I was initially very pleased. The exterior was very clean. However, when I first got back in the car, I noticed that there were large parts of the seats still wet. There was also some grime remaining in the cup holder and the creases on the passenger seat. No big deal, but a bit of a disappointment (I was looking forward to a squeaky clean car!). The two real disappointments were those I experienced after driving away - first, I realized that something they had used to clean the interior had melted the connector jack on my cassette I use to connect and play my ipod in the car. It is my fault for not removing the tape, I just didn't think about it. This did, however, double the cost of my car wash if you include the cost of replacing the cassette. Second, when I opened my trunk I discovered that a bunch of the grime/debris they had washed off of the exterior of the car had simply been washed into the lining of the trunk - we're talking leaves/dirt/etc. I had to wash this part of the car myself, in order to prevent the debris from getting into the trunk and molding. After this experience, I will not be returning to Wash Works, and I would caution others against it unless you are looking for just a quick, exterior wash. read more

Just got my car cleaned. 3 stars because of the following Pros: it's fast. Not too expensive. My car is pretty clean (except a stain on my passenger seat). People complained about rudeness but i actually got good service. Maybe because i was here early in the morning? I dont know. Cons: there was a stain on my passenger chair that could have been cleaned very easily since it's a stain from saturday. (It can be easily cleaned but they didnt even bother touching it. Also, at the end, i was about to tip but noticed that they took some coins i left next to my gear box so i did not tip because of that. I just came from Wash Works where I witnessed an older white employee in a teal shirt arguing with an African American customer about whether or not his car locks automatically. The customer's door was locked and the employee insisted that it happened automatically, although the customer said that it was not possible. The employee treated the man horribly and accepted no responsibility for anything. I was then subjected to his horrible behavior when I got into my husband's car and didn't get off the lot fast enough. They put the emergency brake on and I didn't know where to release it. He started making gestures and yelling at me that I don't know how to drive my own car. I have never been treated so poorly by an employee at any establishment. If he is an employee, he should be fired. If he is the owner, this place should go under. I used to be a regular customer but I will never go back after this experience. Wash Work's car wash on Howard Street. It's not what it used to be I can say that. I will give this location only three stars. Your car is in and out in 10 minutes. They hit and miss sometimes with maybe not doing the back window or the interior isn't dusted. The Mexicans that don't speak English it's hard to make them understand that they forgot to do something. I wish they would do a better job because I do like bringing my car in that direction because it's in a good location. The price that they charge to do everything it's called the super works it's $23.99. This includes interior and exterior, with vacuuming and tire dressing. I've used Wash Works for the past 20 years. Always efficient. However, the operation must of changed hands. Gone is the old grumpy guy and the taller and younger guy who seemed to keep everyone on track. Yesterday, I went to Wash Works for their opening day for the summer. What a calamity. After leaving my vehicle to the guys who vacuum, I walk inside and noticed several customers demanding refunds. The problem was that several cars were significantly damages going through the washing tunnel. Several had damage to the left front quarter panel and the left door. Fortunately, my car made it through with only a couple marks on the front bumper and right door. The new owners will keep the insurance company very busy. Of course, I'm now searching for another car wash in northern Baltimore. read more

I have been here multiple times and never been 100% happy when leaving but this was the worst. My car looked like I went through a touchless car wash at a gas station. It was still dripping water when I left, the few spots of bird crap on the roof were still there, and the person who did the tires sprayed them instead of spraying the rag and wiping them down so my freshly "washed" car had spray for the tires on the body and all four doors. There was lint left all over the windows and the dash from whatever towels they used. And They left the doors open on the passenger side when I went to get into my car. Weird. I spent an hour drying the car off, wiping the windows and dash to remove the lint and trying to remove the tire spray from the paint. Old white guy who works at the end of the car wash gave us the worst customer service we have EVER received. I made this Yelp account JUST for this review. PLEASE DONT SUPPORT THIS PLACE. Go to wiz car wash or canton. He literally screamed at everyone for the owner of a gray Acura (there was a gray Mercedes outside and we have a black Acura which was not outside) the woman at the front desk called him over the speaker to tell him he was wrong and that it was a blacj Acura that was ready. When we went outside my husband said "we didn't answer because you screamed gray Acura" HE SCREAMED BACK AT MY HUSBAND SAYING ALL I SAID WAS ACURA, ACURRRAAAAAA! Someone needs to get this old man out of the sun, he might be less bitter. Not to mention my husband specifically asked that the rims be cleaned and they didn't even touch them! Their customer service is impressively horrendous. The official closing time is 5PM (clearly shown on their signage and on their website) and when I arrived at approximately 4:40PM I was basically ridiculed and yelled at for asking about the closing time -- in front of my children. The attendant pointed at the "closed" signs and argued with me that I needed to leave because they were obviously already closed. My 9-year old daughter said, "wow, that man was surprisingly rude." I called and asked to speak with a manager and was told "no, they are busy and won't speak with you." Wash work is successful because of the lack of competition. They honestly do a basic job...the car is vacuumed in under 5 minutes and you can tell. The exterior wash is basic but decent and the interior "Wash" is nonexistent. They won't clean inside your cup holders unless you pay for the $45 and even still that's just for them to clean your dash...everything else still looks the same...& their famous for changing your radio station to whatever Spanish station is local. I just think that's completely unprofessional. The cashiers are rude, they roll their eyes at customers and barley want to move from their Barstools to get a air freshener. I have been a regular customer at Wash Works for many, many years. But today I had a very distressing experience. After waiting in line for 1-1/2 hours and watching dozens of asshats cut in line in front of me I finally got to the head of the line only to be told that the wax line and the express super clean line were shut down 30 minutes earlier than advertised on their web site. When I complained about this, I was told that if I don't like it I can leave! I regret that I must now find another place to get my car cleaned, as they clearly don't take care of their regular customers. They have gotten their last dollar out of me. read more
