We got the wide noodles, they give you a good amount of noodles. We shared a bowl of noodles and 2 orders of dumplings and were pretty content afterwards. The crab meat soup dumplings (xiao long bao) were so tasty, I just wish they give you soup spoons, cause it's really hard to catch all the soup with my tiny spoon, since the skin broke pretty easily. The fried dumplings were really good as well, I didn't taste much shrimp in it though, but they are so juicy and flavorful. The first time visiting chinatown and of course i had to swing by and grab some chinese food! This place had customers in and out while i was browsing the menu; already know it was a popular place with quick service. Ordered a few items just to get the gist of it all and i was not disappointed. My favorite item was the pork shrimp soup dumplings my goodness that burst of flavor in the pockets of the dumplings SO DARN GOOD! I wish i had 20 of those! The spicy toothpick lamb was different i loved the seasoning! I wasn't a fan of the sesame balls with the red bean paste but that's a personal preference. I was suddenly craving Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles and was so surprised to actually find a spot that finally opened in DC! I was craving dumplings so I decided to give this place a try, although I was disappointed to see that they don't seem to do soup dumplings anymore? But I got the pan-fried pork buns and the mixed puff (ham sui gok) instead, which were both really good in my opinion - the dough for the pork buns was not too thick and the mixed puff were perfectly crispy yet soft. Both are about $8 for 4 pieces though, so I don't know if I would say it's worth the price. Came here after attending the Hong Kong Festival held at the National Museum of Asian Art. The ordering process through their kiosks was quick and easy, especially because there were pictures of the dishes. It was fun watching them hand pull the noodles (sadly Yelp won't allow me to upload the video) going into my dish, Beef Pull Noodle Soup. The noodles had a nice bite and chew to them and the beef had good flavor and tenderness. I wish there was more bok choy and radish in my soup, but I can't complain because I had a heaping serving of the star ingredient, the noods. Wasai was a nice addition to the Chinatown area. I've been looking for a go-to Chinese restaurant near me and this may just become the place. I was early greeted when I walked in, the place was fair empty so I walked right into the counter to place my order. As I was ordering I realized they have these self-ordering machines which are very convenient when it gets busier. I ordered the Seafood Stir-fry Noodles. One of the things I enjoyed the most about the place (aside from the food) was that I got to see my noodles being made! That was fun, I was fascinated by it. Service was very friendly. It is mostly a self-service restaurant, one you place your order, you get your receipt with a number which they call once your order is ready. I enjoyed my food very much, I initially thought it was lacking a bit of salt but after pouring a bit of soy sauce it was right on point. The noodles are fresh made in front of you, and have a good taste and springiness. I got chicken dumpling because I am tired of chives (the pork dumpling bad chives), and surprisingly , the chicken dumplings had a good flavor, even before adding condiment sauces.
