AH-MAZING. The hand-pulled cut noodles in spicy beef broth are so good that I'm still thinking about them 3 hours later. The dumplings are made fresh, and the pan-fried ones are so perfectly chewy and crisp on the outside. The shrimp & chive dumplings were so fresh they melt in your mouth. Only thing wrong was my stomach got too full to eat more dumplings! read more

Food was ok. No service. Guy didn't help with bringing order to table. Also very flimsy fork and spoons.

Food taste good. Good for taste and good for value. Ambience. Love the technology. Quick to order. Food is cooked well. The only complain i have is that it would be great if it is a little colder where the mosquitoes and the flys could fly off. read more

My new favorite lunch place! They have a fantastic array of Chinese staples. In fact, almost every customer I saw during my early lunch was Chinese! Fast, delicious, large helpings of noodles, reasonably priced. I ordered the Zha Jiang Mian with shaved noodles and the sesame balls through the easy kiosk, and then I stood back and was mesmerized watching a fellow nonchalantly pull a wad of dough into a bowl worth of noodles. My shaved noodles were so great too - who needs a pasta maker when you have a giant piece of dough and a scraper? One more nice touch is that for dine in, they use real dishes (a great big ceramic bowl for noodles) which makes you feel like you're having a proper meal that's also not producing so much waste. I'll be back very soon to try all the other dishes. read more

Quick service, delicious hand shaved noodles (great texture, very "q") all around good Chinese comfort food! It's a smaller space but they pack up the noodle soups well for carryout, too. The boba is good (it's the powdered drink kind), and you can pick the sweetness level, which I appreciate. read more

I was very impressed by this more "fast food" like Chinese place. The menu is really expansive and I was tempted to eat way more than I physically could. We had some very high-quality hand pulled noodles and also tried their cucumber salad (absolutely incredible) and tested their dim sum options (mandatory). Will definitely be coming back! read more

A solid quick noodle restaurant. Stopped in around 9 pm and the place was practically empty. The cash register was closed but I could walk up to the monitors and place my order myself. As someone who had never been to the place before this was a little intimidating but I after asking one of the staff I ordered the beef tripe hand pulled noodles soups (hand shaved). The noodles were a good thickness and I had nice pieces of trip in the soup. Also the soup had decent depth to it. There was also some mini bok choy, cilantro, scallions, and daikon radish. The cilantro was a bit overpowering for my tastes and I generally like cilantro. However overally the noodle soup was good. read more

Quick and inexpensive very average food. The inside has a fast food feel; melamine dishes and plastic utensils.

Food is delicious, I got the beef pull noodle soup with spicy braised broth, it wasn't spicy at all but has really good flavor. I really like their chili oil! We got the wide noodles, they give you a good amount of noodles. We shared a bowl of noodles and 2 orders of dumplings and were pretty content afterwards. The crab meat soup dumplings (xiao long bao) were so tasty, I just wish they give you soup spoons, cause it's really hard to catch all the soup with my tiny spoon, since the skin broke pretty easily. The fried dumplings were really good as well, I didn't taste much shrimp in it though, but they are so juicy and flavorful. This place is a little small so it might be hard to find seating, it reminds me of Xian's famous food in nyc :) read more

This place was a complete let down and I blame Yelpers for the positive reviews. The food was just not good. I bought a bunch of pork dumplings - pork soup dumplings, pork buns, as well as pork and chive dumplings, and they were all horrible. They lacked flavor, tasted doughy, and were simply bad. The level of disappointment I'm feeling after ordering from here is bordering on anger. I love dumplings and if I can't find good dumplings in Chinatown then I don't know what to say, except that DC has to seriously up its game. In short, if you think this place is good, I seriously question your taste. read more

Four stars for food; zero stars for service. The food is good, but the service is completely broken. When we arrived, the place was packed. Placed order at 6:12 pm. By 7:00 pm, we still had not received our food. Staff upfront told us that they hadn't cooked it yet. Meanwhile folks 10 places behind us in queue were getting their food. We finally received our food around one hour after ordering. The logistics in this place are very disorganized. When someone complains about the wait, the staff upfront will cannabilize from other orders to fill complaining customer's order. This place does not appear to have an organized system for tracking how long orders have been pending and what needs to be filled on the oldest orders. read more

Busy restaurant with lots of people and lots of food for selection. Only need self cleaning like Mac's style.

The first time visiting chinatown and of course i had to swing by and grab some chinese food! This place had customers in and out while i was browsing the menu; already know it was a popular place with quick service. Ordered a few items just to get the gist of it all and i was not disappointed. My favorite item was the pork shrimp soup dumplings my goodness that burst of flavor in the pockets of the dumplings SO DARN GOOD! I wish i had 20 of those! The spicy toothpick lamb was different i loved the seasoning! I wasn't a fan of the sesame balls with the red bean paste but that's a personal preference. Don't forget the sauces by the register for your dumplings ( how i did) they really make the dumpling add that zest to it! read more

I was very disappointed with the flavors. Both my husband and I thought most of the dishes were insipid. the cucumber salad was soggy, the seaweed did not look fresh bit crunchy. Love hand pulled noodles but they were too hard and most of them were stuck to each other The wonton were lacking flavors. I would not recommend that restaurant. read more

I really enjoyed the beef flank pulled noodles with the thick handmade noodles and tender, flavorful beef. I think I'd try the same order but with the spicier broth next time. This time around I just added a little chili oil for extra flavor. At 6:45 on a weekday it took only 10 minutes or so to prepare my order. There is limited seating but enough space that a friend and I could grab spots by the window. The location is prime if you're going to a show at capital one or exploring the area! Also, I loved that you could watch noodles being made here! read more

When I called Ahead I asked if they had a long wait and the lady said "I'm busy" and then hung up the phone. I honestly don't know why I still proceeded to go, but we did about 2 hours after that call and while my husband was paying I went to get a table. I asked the lady near the cash register if there was a way I can clean the table. She legit tossed a blue dirty wet hand towel at me and I asked her if she was being serious? She proceeded to say something aggressively towards me in a separate language. And walked away. So I not only paid 45 dollars for 3 items I had the rudest experience maybe someone else's will Be different than mine ! read more

Fast, clean. Great packaging for to go items. I ordered the assorted beef noodle soup with original soup and hand shaven noodles. The broth was very bland. The noodles were good and tasted with the texture as expected. The assorted beef seemed like it was mostly the throwaway fatty portions - not much meat at all. Could be better. If 3 1/2 stars was an option it would be a 3 1/2. I "artillery expressed" my rating and rounded up. There is no service and ambiance is like a fast food joint like you would find in NYC. My hand pulled noodle soup was bland but the beef tendons was good. Good cucumber salad and fried wontons but the soup dumplings, again bland. I was suddenly craving Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles and was so surprised to actually find a spot that finally opened in DC! My husband and I both got the shaven noodles because we love that texture, I got the beef original soup and he got the assorted beef spicy soup. They were both great! Very tasty broths, great noodles, good meat, decent portions, and I think fair prices (husband thinks it could be less). My only complaint is that the tables were all fairly dirty and we had to wipe down our own table to sit at. But regardless, I look forward to going back for my future noodle cravings and trying some other items on their menu! read more

The food was really good. I ordered To GO: the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup with small pulled noodles. It came with tender thinly slices beef, bok choy, green onions, cilantro and radishes. The broth was very light in texture and a slight spicy flavor. I will not lie, there was a bit of oil on the surface, but I scooped it off. I also got the Pork, Shrimp and Chive Dumplings steamed. I was amazing! The dumplings were steamed to perfection and bursting with flavor! Everything came packaged very vice and considerately. I liked the bamboo chopsticks that came with my to go order. I will definitely consider ordering here again. read more

Wasai was a nice addition to the Chinatown area. I've been looking for a go-to Chinese restaurant near me and this may just become the place. I was early greeted when I walked in, the place was fair empty so I walked right into the counter to place my order. As I was ordering I realized they have these self-ordering machines which are very convenient when it gets busier. I ordered the Seafood Stir-fry Noodles. One of the things I enjoyed the most about the place (aside from the food) was that I got to see my noodles being made! That was fun, I was fascinated by it. Service was very friendly. It is mostly a self-service restaurant, one you place your order, you get your receipt with a number which they call once your order is ready. I enjoyed my food very much, I initially thought it was lacking a bit of salt but after pouring a bit of soy sauce it was right on point. My husband ordered a beef noodle soup le which I also had a chance to try and yum! This place is worth a chance, and I truly hope they do well. read more

Came here after attending the Hong Kong Festival held at the National Museum of Asian Art. The ordering process through their kiosks was quick and easy, especially because there were pictures of the dishes. It was fun watching them hand pull the noodles (sadly Yelp won't allow me to upload the video) going into my dish, Beef Pull Noodle Soup. The noodles had a nice bite and chew to them and the beef had good flavor and tenderness. I wish there was more bok choy and radish in my soup, but I can't complain because I had a heaping serving of the star ingredient, the noods. Next time, I'll be ordering hand shaven noodles (vs flat pull) as they are shorter, making them easier to eat. read more

We tried beef noodle soup, chicken dumpling noodle soup, fried rice, and a pork bao. Everything was tasty and the whole family enjoyed the food. The noodles are fresh made in front of you, and have a good taste and springiness. I got chicken dumpling because I am tired of chives (the pork dumpling bad chives), and surprisingly , the chicken dumplings had a good flavor, even before adding condiment sauces. The pork bao was more like dry carnitas in a griddled flatbread - my 8 year old called it a Chinese taco and devoured it. Restaurant is new, clean, smells fresh (some restaurants in the area have a musty funk), and the cashier was helpful and answered several questions about the menu. read more
