Warrior's Grill is located in the Renaissance Place Shopping Center located on N. Great Neck Rd. just a little north of Virginia Beach Blvd. With them being part of a shopping center, there was ample parking available here. My visit here was on March 25, 2024. It had been a while since I had been to a Mongolian BBQ place since DW's Mongolian closed during the pandemic. I have heard of the place in the past, but hadn't been in there. They are in the middle of the shopping center, and almost missed it at first. It wasn't busy when I came in, but it was at an off peak time. We were immediately greeted and got to a table. The server asked if we wanted any soups, but we declined. You also get some white rice at the table, but that is one thing I avoid since it can spike sugar levels. It was time to go up to the food picking area to have it cooked. I went with several vegetables, as well as white meat chicken and beef. There are several sauces to add as well, but I generally avoid the sugar water one. It is all you can eat when you dine in, so you can go up multiple times. Since we were able to go up multiple times, I was definitely full by the time I was done after three visits. They were quick for refills as needed and the clearing of used plates too. Overall, the service and food were good. I had no issues while there. One thing that I would have hoped for was to have seafood options like shrimp or scallops as well. The pricing is good for what you get here as I was here during the early dinner time. If you're looking for a place that has Mongolian BBQ, this is a solid place to come and check out. read more

We stopped by for lunch at 10:45 am and were told they opened at noon. So we returned. There weren't many people at the time, but as we fixed our food more people came in. I was told it was $15 for takeout and you get one bowl. The problem is the bowl is tiny. It's fine if your dining in since you can return for more. But eating takeout it was a big issue because it's hard to fit the noodles and toppings all in the little bowl. The crazy thing is they had a stack of plates which would have made it easier to get what you want on one plate, but no, that wasn't allowed. I stacked my bowl up because i wanted lots of veggies, so when it came to the sauces I grabbed another bowl for the sauce to avoid a mess. The sauces were a sincere joke. Everything was water!!! Garlic WATER, lemon WATER, the garlic water had like 10 pieces of garlic sitting in the bottom. It was technically water water!! I have NEVER seen anything like it. If it was oil it may have had a better flavor, or hell any flavor. Because it was flavorless even with everything I added. It comes with soup and bread. The bread was pretty decent. The soup was gelatinous and tasted like what I'd imagine the bottom of a boot would taste like after a 12 hour shift!! Lol. I'm not exaggerating. The small sip I took stayed on my tongue for a while. I regretted it. I will say they had a lot of veggie options and a good amount of toppings. I think they were confused that I stuffed that much in my bowl, because I worked it out, but I had to stuff and layer. They almost looked impressed and flabbergasted at the same time. Lol .. I will say if you have high blood pressure, this is probably not the best place to eat. The other sauces that weren't water, were basically soy sauce that was diluted. If it had flavor it would have been a decent deal. So when I went to pay the owner tried to charge me for 2 bowls. I explained to her that one bowl was just sauce to avoid a mess. The cook saw I only had 1 bowl of food. She then left the register to go talk to the staff to confirm. I think she was frustrated, because she came back looking frazzled. But in the end she only charged me for the 1 bowl. I know stuff is expensive but cutting corners this much is wild. You'd rather argue with customers over a bowl of bland noodles than find a better way to make everyone happy. Seems they'd rather lose business. When we got there the staff seemed friendly for the most part. The cooks don't talk to you, they just cook. It was a little weird, but I wasn't there to make friends I guess. I'd have to say I would not go back. Even if it was $5. If they make some changes this could be a decent place. Sorry for the negative review, but my experience wasn't a good one!! read more

About a 1-1.5: I'm surprised with the high ratings for this local Mongolian BBQ spot (they have another location in Chesapeake) - our dining experience here was just not a tasty one. The buffet area where you get your noodles, veggies, protein, and the various sauces are set up as the usual; however, the sauces seem to lack any type of flavor, some just being plain sugar water, and were extremely diluted and watered down; you couldn't really distinguish between the different ones. Adding more ladles of the liquid sauces didn't help the taste of our stir-fried creations, so it was pretty disappointing. There could also be more of an effort in wiping down the buffet area, as while the patrons were super messy, it really made you lose some of your appetite with ingredients just all over the place, and some mixed with with other toppings/protein. The place was began to get really packed while we were dining in, and the tables were just too close to one another to comfort; even the wait staff had a hard time maneuvering around. We also had a hard time getting the attention of our server, as we wanted refills, some plates taken away, and obtain the check. The check came with a plate of chocolate cookies, but we didn't touch them. I'm glad I was able to give Warrior's Grill a try, but wouldn't return. We went for lunch after the aquarium. It was clean, well taken care of. And the customer service...TOP NOTCH. It was unlimited plates & a cup of egg soup. and I could barely eat two plates! after filling them up! It was cooked great! Add more Mongolian special sauce after the cook it makes it even that much better!!! We got back to our table and there was rice and this sesame bread I had never had before. THAT BREAD. From one baker to another...PERFECTION. The sweet lady/manager said affectionately "we call it *****...but here...you call it bread." BUT EAT THAT BREAD DIPPED IN THE MONGOLIAN SPECIAL SAUCE. Arrived around 6:30 ish, there wasn't any wait I was seated right away. It wasn't packed or busy when I first arrived, but after awhile it started to pick up, but even with the pick up they didn't and by they I means the cooks. My server was okay, she kept my water filled, however I was waiting for rice which never came. The soups was okay, and the bread was okay as well. I didn't really care for either one but they were decent. I would have given it a higher rating however the options for meet and sauces was limited, I would have thought it would have been much vast options but overall. This spot looks unassuming in the middle of a small shopping area. It is a buffet-style eatery offering Mongolian BBQ grilled at an open counter with a choice of ingredients. Upon being seated, we were served water and sesame bread (which I really enjoyed), as well as asked if we wanted soup. Then, we got to pick what we wanted from a nice selection of vegetables and meat, with the base being noodles. For vegetables, I added mushroom, carrots, zucchini, broccoli, onion, peppers, and bean sprouts. In terms of meat, I chose crab, pork, and lamb. After that, there were a few sauces and I put a little bit of each, except the spicy one. There was garlic, sesame, oyster, as well as a few others. It was fun to watch the chefs cook it all up! The meal turned out to be pretty tasty, and my favorite part of the meal was the crab - Delightfully tender and yummy. Everything was cooked well, but there seemed to be something missing in terms of flavor - I couldn't really distinguish the sauces that were included. There were also chicken wings and canned pineapple, which were nice and added a fresh element to the dinner. At the end, we were served dessert of mini cookies: Chocolate chip and white chocolate chips. The cookies were just okay, but they didn't look or taste homemade. I take my lunch break here often, as I work in the shopping center. You can't beat having real, unprocessed gore cooked in front of you! I am not a picky person, and have never left a negative review before. However I was so bothered today eating at Warrior's Grill. When we entered this afternoon there was at least 10 pieces of thawing chicken scattered on the buffet counter. My 10 year set his bowl on top of the raw chicken and I could see clear juices running from it with liquid puddles underneath it. I wondered if it that was the moment he'd be catching salmonella. Most of the staff members sat sitting in a corner the whole time. However, some staff members (including the owner) did pass the thawed chicken mess and no one bothered to clean it up. When we left the restaurant about 45 minute later the chicken mess was still sitting there with several customers coming and going. That's just a serious no no for me because people could get majorly sick from that. Who knows how long that chicken was truly sitting there today. Also, I know this is not the restaurants fault. But there was an older man in line behind me that was smashing his chicken down into his bowl with his bare hands and then grabbing for sauces after that. I was highly aware when going back for seconds to go wash my hands just thinking about all the possible contaminations in that place. Had the staff been cleaning up after customers, changing out utensils, wiping things down, I would have felt so much better about the cleanliness. Because this is only what you can see. #10/2020 I met up with some friends to celebrate Lunar New Year here last week. (Hooray for the Year of the Rat!) They were really busy with the anticipation of the lion dance and Kung Fu demonstrations that was about to go down within the hour. I have to say, our one and only waiter was A w e s o m e! Let me tell you! If you asked him for something it was like he Abracadabra'ed whatever it was you asked for right before your eyes! Dude did not miss a beat at all! On top of that, he did it all with grace and friendliness, too! We were a party of 20 or so and had separated tables because we were so large but he was able to match the tickets of the teenagers to their respective parents. At the end of the celebration the restaurant cleared out and he let us hang out until closing time AND he offered to snap a few pictures of us. He was just great! I bumped up my rating to a 4 because of our waiter but in all honesty I would have given a 3. The self serve "toppings" bar line was extremely messy and was in desperate need of a sweep, wipe down, and just plain attention! Lots of dropped noodles, carrots, cabbage, onions, meat, etc... Just all over the bar and floor. It was not presentable and appealing. I got several food stains on my shirt from accidentally touching the droppings on the counter when I went to reach over for items towards the back. I feel someone should have been tasked to handle that at all times. Just looked very neglected. I feel the cooks did a great job cooking our food but I could have used some assistance in the sauce department. Yes, everything is self serve but perhaps a sign/placard should have been created and strategically placed to give you ideas on sauce combinations and portion. It was a mix of trial and error with the guessing game. My first go round was a little bland bc I didn't know how much sauce to add to my bowl or perhaps I missed a key ingredient. Who knows. Not sure if they offer anything else or even have a menu at that. All I know is that they bring you out some rice, some delicious sesame bread (kind of like naan bread), and a cup of your choice of Hot & Sour soup or Egg Drop Soup. Due to their convenient location there is a lot of parking! I imagine one might end up parking "far" if the closest spaces fill up but there's a lot of it. Might have to walk just a little bit you'll be fine. For example, I parked in front of Sundays tanning and Venue. Would I come back?? Sure, absolutely. Probably not one of my first 5 choices if I'm hungry however, I wouldn't be opposed to it if I get invited. =) read more

Found this place thru Yelp. I had been to one in Chesapeake years ago and was excited to see there was one closer to me. It was just ok. We got a choice of soup, along with a bowl of rice and some sesame bread. The soup was ice cold, cold to the point like they just took it out of the fridge and forgot to warm it. The bread was meh. There was no salad bar or cookies. I guess you only get it for dinner. I wish they would ask people if it were their first time to try to explain what to do at the bar. Luckily I had been to places like that before and was able to explain to other customers what to do. Definitely get every flavor, maybe 2 spoonfuls or your meal will be bland. Only beef,chicken, and pork on the bar for lunch. It was an experience for the kids but I don't think we will be back. read more

I really hate to leave a bad review because the food is pretty good, but there have been a few times that the staff has been dismissive or rude. One of the cooks outright ignored me and helped someone else when I was trying to tell him that I needed my order modified and the other cook snatched the bowl of food out of my hand. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they seemed a little more friendly and patient with other customers. This place is great if you are a veggie lover like me, because you can get a healthy meal at a fair price. Warrior's Grill has been around for a really long time and is my favorite place for Mongolian. You're there for Mongolian BBQ so there is not much else of a selection other than the small salad bar. Their meats include your choices of pork, beef, and chicken (dark and white meat) along with the typical selection of veggies to add to your lo mein noodles with your choice of sauces. If you can't decide on a sauce, your safe bet is to go with the Mongolian special sauce. Not only do you get that, but you're also served a bowl of rice, your choice of hot and sour soup or egg drop soup and sesame bread, which I love! And if you ask nicely, they'll happily bring more out to you! Joe, the manager is usually on duty there and he, along with the rest of the staff ensure that everyone is taken care of, no matter how busy they get. My friend and I came here for lunch and it was a nice experience. They offer complementary soup and delicious sesame bread as soon as you're seated. It was our first time here and we didn't receive any type of explanation of how the process worked. While we were there I've also heard several other people asking the waitress how things work so they should provide a little more direction when you're seated. The food options are traditional but very fresh. Lots of vegan options and big plates. They offer one plate options and unlimited. Was told if it's not hot enough that is their practice to heat soup in microwave not giving customers a fresh hot bowl!! Then we proceed to see the waitress making to go orders and using her bare hands to put hanging noodles into bowl and then smashing down the meat in bowl with her whole BARE hand! I don't know if it's because I was stationed in the Pacific, or visited many Asian countries...or maybe I've had my fair share of outstanding food...I just did not like this place. The good: The staff was so friendly. We tipped them well even. I feel bad leaving a subpar review. The ambiance was nice. It was extremely clean. It was absolutely beautiful in there. You get cookies when you are ready to pay, which is a plus. Drinks come in a huge cup! The bad: I'm not understanding this particular Mongolian BBQ restaurant. I've been to many. No matter how much sauce I put on the veggies and meat before cooking, the food still tasted bland here. I had to add lots of soy sauce and salt to make up for the lack of flavor. Maybe they cooked off all the sauce I'm not sure. They had a nice selection of everything. I don't know what the heck it was. Perhaps it was an off night or something. The egg drop soup almost tasted like it was burned. Not sure what that was about. Maybe I got the bottom part of the pot it was cooked in, I don't know. Trying to eat low carb at a restaurant is hard, but not here! If you're on a low carb or keto diet this is a great place to get a meal packed full of meat and low carb veggies full of flavor. They have carb options of noodoes, rice, and sesame bread, but it's easy to eliminate them and have a satisfying meal. read more

I love this resturant alot, but I have to give it 4 stars bc of a few rules they have. First off, the food is fantastic and the staff are good. You walk in and get soup (included in price), bread, and rice. You then go up and make your meal and give it to the cooks and wait a few minutes as they cook it up in front of you. Then you take the plate back to your seat and eat. The waiters are very nice. There's one waiter (Matt) in particular that is just really cool and helpful. We always say hello to eachother when I walk in as I'm a somewhat regular there. The problems I found was if you get there before 3pm it's cheaper than if you choose to go after 3pm. I'm not sure why they do this, but that was an issue I found. Also, they have complimentary cookies only at dinner (after 3pm), not lunch. I was dissapointed when I found this out, but my boy gave us cookies anyways. But usually, they do not give cookies before 3pm. Also, this didn't bother me but it's worth mentioning. They do have a bar, but I've never seen anybody sitting there. I think their bar section isn't doing well. I know they serve these drinks that's a bowl and you light the middle of it on fire. Drinks on fire are always cool in my book. Lastly, they don't allow you to take doggy bags out of the resturant. Which makes sense bc it's unlimited, so everybody would just get an extra meal. For these reasons I'm giving it a 4 star bc I want it changed. It breaks my heart though and I'm still going to eat there. I just want these problems brought up. Great resturant otherwise. They REFUSED to give me a box. So because it's buffet, you refuse to give me a box-but rather THROW AWAY a plate of food. Staff are far from friendly, the bar where you prepare your food is constantly dirty. And the price info has coincidentally disappeared. No posted prices. No menus offered. No mention of the price. Three for late lunch l/early dinner (one trip each with water to drink) came to $50.01. We will NOT be back. The business practices here have turned predatory.
