this is the absolute worst carry-out in the entire world!!! I went there yesterday and ordered a large shrimp fried rice, with no msg or egg: simple enough right? wrong! I got all the way back home, to find that "crazy" woman, had put a big container of dry rice with some shrimp in it!!! no seasoning or veggies at all!! it was disgusting!! I will never return to this sub-standard "dive" pretending to be a legitimate carry-out!!! I would urge anybody looking for chinese carry-out, to go elsewhere!!! read more

This little restaurant is run by a lovely family and provides friendly, fast service. The food is pretty good and the portions are huge -- definitely a bargain for the price. I got the Hunan special and it was more food than I could eat; the rice that came with it was delicious and cooked just right. I was impressed with the staff here. They had the order ready very quickly and were so friendly. They helped one customer carry her food to her car. I ordered the large wonton soup which gave us about 3-4 servings. The wontons were large and fresh. The General Tso chef's special was also a large portion. I've had this place several times (always take out) and the food is as any good Chinese food place would do, if not a bit better. This might be due to their awesome customer service skills. Between the chicken and broccoli, the chicken and string beans and the sweet and sour chicken, all with fried rice - I can't pick a favorite. Which is good news as it tells me I can pick anything across the board and not be disappointed. They are incredibly generous with their portions - no matter how hungry I am, I always always always have leftovers - and I can eat! As for the real winner here, without a doubt, the staff. Every single time I go here, I am greeted with the biggest smile, the order is hot and ready to go, they fill up my bag with extra sauces, extra everything you can think of, AND add (quite a few, big ones too) fried donut holes or a soda for free - can't go wrong with that. And the cherry on top of the cake, if my order takes more than what my two hands can handle, as it so often happens, they will carry everything to your car and help you out. read more

This place is tasty. We went in at 9:30 on a Sunday night because I was craving general Tso's. I am very picky with General Tso's cause a lot of restaurants are often soggy and not good. I got the combination and how can you beat the pork fried rice, egg roll, and chicken for 6.75? The chicken was good and had a little crunch without being overdone. Nice size pieces of chicken. The rice was good, and you could tell it was fresh and not old rice that sat in the steamer all day. I was happy because it was right before close and I hate getting "the leftovers." We also ordered crab ragoons and these are the triangle shaped ones with a sweeter inside filling! Some of my favorites! We also got the teriyaki chicken skewers. They were tender, smoky and sweet. We spent only $17 and it was a lot of food. I will def be returning and using this place as one of my go to late night take out spots! read more

I chose the Jade, and glad we did, walking in looks like a take out, which had lots of that while we had our lunch. around the corner of the counter, was a very nice variety of anything you wanted, all very tasty well presented, and I think her secret to always very fresh is that she put out smaller amounts of everything, over and over again, always perfect. soups, veggies,chicken, seafood, beef, pork, all very good, even dessert. How many people are eating at a restaurant is always a good indicator of how good that restaurant is, I use that test all the time, and frankly so should you. So when I showed up to Jade Garden III and only one person was eating here I should have drive away, but I didn't, huge mistake. I quickly and excitedly ordered the lunch buffet, grabbing all the dishes I could fit on to my styrofoam plate and even taking a styrofoam bowl of egg drop soup. Sitting down to my table, I dug in using my plastic fork only to discover to food was bland and not cooked properly. I reached for the salt only to discover there is no salt and pepper at the table. I grudgingly finish my plate of food only to not get a second plate, and really who doesn't get a second plate at a Chinese buffet? Throwing away my plate I notice a sign posted near the trash can that reads "No wasting food". Typically I would say that is good advice, but I have the overwhelming feeling they put that up because so many people were throwing there food away, I can't blame them. read more

We have purchased take-out from here a handful of times, and they never disappoint. Keep in mind that they are a Chinese-American restaurant/carry-out place. If you want authentic Chinese cuisine, look elsewhere. I must also point out that I am from NY, and I prefer that type of 'Chinese/American' take-out. We have tried MANY Chinese take-out places around our area, and this one always comes out on top. Their won ton soup is good, no extra pork strips though. The dumplings are great, they are also my fav.! We've eaten a myriad of items off their menu, and I can sum up my opinion by saying, "If you are looking for regular Chinese Take-out, Jade Garden III is the best in VA Beach". I haven't found any item that didn't taste good. I have even tried different items (that I normally wouldn't order), because I trust their cooking. They also have a lunch buffet for $5.75. Tip: if you order a 'Lunch Combo' you can save some $. It is the same size as the dinner combo, minus the eggroll.
