Owen and his designer came over and looked at the property then gave us a quote about a week later. The quote was very hard to read as it had quite a bit of legal jargon. I emailed the designer and I said I am having trouble reading this it looks like it was written by your lawyers. Oh my how these two flipped out. They were on a group email and did not know it. The designer told Owen what we said and Owen responded to him by saying "lawyers, WTF this guy is a dumb ass, I knew they couldn't afford me to begin with." Who's the dumb ass now. Any way we fired them and got a terrific landscaper who we are absolutely happy with.

The ten-week project included a concrete patio, retaining walls and steps, irrigation, drainage, lighting, fencing, pergola assembly, gas and electrical lines, plants, ground cover (gravel and mulch), and fire table and hot tub installation. Owen's crew was skilled, friendly and hard-working. His foremen Al and Nestor were amazing to work with and did an outstanding job leading the project. Owen was closely involved every step of the way. He provided numerous suggestions that either weren't in the original plan from the landscape design company or were an improvement to the original plan. This was one of the biggest reasons we're glad we worked with Mitchell Landscapes - Owen's combination of strong design and practical sense resulted in a landscape that far surpassed the original plan. Owen was also honest, transparent, and fully committed throughout the project. Even after our project was completed, Owen and his crew came back several times to check plants and irrigation, as well as to unload and carry a 600 lb fire table into our backyard. We had a very good experience working with Northview Landscaping. Our project was large, involving…read morea new paver driveway, new public sidewalk, new turf install, new concrete and paver pathways, new wooden gates and a re-install of a paver patio. The project took a long time with several interruptions due to weather and permitting with the city. For a while it seemed like the sidewalk repair might not happen, but Juan and Freddie were able to work it out with the city and the new sidewalk looks great. Our new paver driveway looks amazing and has given us way more space. The new retaining wall curves around the corner to the street, which was a detail in the design that I really wanted, and they were able to deliver. So far after a few heavy rainstorms everything seems to be draining properly. The plants and landscaping are starting to fill in and I'm hoping that the plants thrive over the summer after some pretty nasty weather the last couple months. Perhaps the best part of the project has turned out to be the backyard where we replaced the grass lawn with turf and had the paver patio re-installed. It looks really nice and the dogs love it. I love that I don't have to spend hours weeding it and worrying about foxtails in dog feet or noses. There is still one step left before completion, since we ended up having to replace our sewer pipe to the street which left a small section of the paver driveway. Overall Northview did great work on a big job with some complicated permitting requirements. They were always respectful, polite and communicative. Our backyard was a mud pit and needless to say required a lot of work. When we first began looking for landscape contractors, we obtained six estimates before deciding to work with Chris. Chris came out and took his time walking our yard and talked with us in great detail about the drainage system we needed, given that our lot is a good 2 feet higher than the two lots behind us. We found him to be much more knowledgeable and thorough then any of the other contractors we talked to. He also really understood our vision of what we wanted and offered great guidance from his expertise. He communicated wonderfully throughout each job he has done for us. We have hired him 3 times for drainage, irrigation, paving stones, lattice extension on fence, building pergola and building deck for hot tub, built outdoor shower, and put in trees. I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out, but just know he can do it all. We also use his company for regular yard maintenance and have had a wonderful experience with Richard his lawn maintenance guy.
