I explained the issue to him and he said, cheerfully, "Oh, you have a sensor problem! I can tell you how to fix it - very simple!" I went out to the garage and located the sensor. I saw immediately that a box had fallen in front of the sensor, blocking it. It worked perfectly after removing the box! Also, there was a dust ball blocking the sensor. Perhaps another vendor would have come out for the service call fee, (or more) and since I am not mechanically inclined I wouldn't have been any wiser.
