This is the second project I have asked Scott and his team to do for me. The first was an Skunk exclusion issue from some very determined skunks to hang out under my deck. Job was thorough, clean up was better than when they started, and project was on time and on budget. The latest project he did for me was to design and build a much improved access from garage to house. The existing stairs were too narrow, and really looked like an after thought as opposed to designed entry. Scott designed a much more elegant and safer stair set that can be accessed from two directions. He also installed some very sturdy hand rails that add to the look as well as functionality. Scott is beyond a carpenter or builder but has a critical eye for design, but also listens to what the customer wants. In addition to garage stairs Scott also installed some hand rails on an existing deck and hand rails on concrete steps to a granny unit. Materials used were very sturdy and first class. This project was on time and on budget. Scott and his team are very respectful of the customer and show up on time, no excuses. This project took more than one day and clean up was done each day. read more

I couldn't be happier with Farrar Construction, which just completed a beautiful, gracefully curved Trex deck for me that has wowed every person to whom I've showed it. Scott Farrar is totally hands-on, and a perfectionist who does things right. The deck needed to fit into a complicated curved shape because of already existing landscaping. I was expecting some sort of multi-segmented approximation to the shape; but Scott determined he could build to the actual curvature desired, and that's just what he did. He was a pleasure to work with as well, responded immediately to texts and calls, met every schedule he promised. He and his workers showed up when they said they would without exception, and worked hard all day through some of the hottest weather of the summer. To top it off, when Scott was putting the finishing touches on the deck, he helped me dispose of close to a cubic yard of unneeded landscaping soil that was blocking my driveway. This is something a good friend does, not your contractor! But that's the kind of service that you get when you work with Scott. This company is amazing. I initially met with Mark (dad) 3 years ago to replace the deck on our summer home along the Russian River and was sold. Unfortunately life got in the way and we couldn't do the job. When we were ready this year, I contacted Scott to get an updated estimate. Scott gave me a fair price and we scheduled the job based on the impression that Mark left on me. Let me tell you, Scott is just as impressive as his dad! As an extremely picky customer, I took two weeks off of work to physically be there and watch every step of the process. The crew: Bo, John, and Marty, were nothing short of amazing! They arrived on time EVERY day and were ready to work. There was no slack time. These guys work hard every day and answered every question I had as if I were their boss. Their customer service approach was unsurpassed! The final product was simply amazing and surpasses all of my expectations. I will warn that Farrar is not the cheapest decking contractor out there. In fact, they will probably come in higher than most. But this is definitely a case of "you get what you pay for"! The work is simply top notch and their attention to detail is obvious.
