Neil Cudden Paining recently completed the painting of our house. There are 13 doors and 98 windows, ship lap siding, two stories. A big job. The prep work was thorough. All repairs were primed. Then two coats of paint. The house looks great. the areas repaired blend with the rest of the surface. I will definitely contact them again for our next painting project. read more

Neil had a staff member, Charlie do all of the work. Despite returning many times, the paint continues to crack and bubble at the front of the house. Neil has always been kind and understanding, but the staff member under taking the job's care declined with each visit. They had a day laborer assist on the initial prep work, using techniques to prep that even the staff member questioned, however they have kept repainting this area over rather than prepping it properly, and so that paint just gets damaged again immediately. Some parts were sanded but never painted at all. Photos are at 10 months post job, after around 4 returns to fix concerns. On the last visit, they also scratched up all the front paint of the house on an non-repainted section and never let us know they were done/leaving so we could check what was done. read more

We hired Neil Cudden to paint our house exterior and we couldn't be more pleased. His team of painters, and especially Charly, the team manager, were wonderful. They did an excellent job on all stages of the job. The prep was done thoroughly and carefully, repairing a couple of places that had some dry rot and also caulking and filling gaps as needed. I was a professional painter in a previous career and still I couldn't find any places that they'd missed! They didn't rush the job - postponing spraying when it was too breezy and waiting for the afternoon when the day was a bit damp in the morning. They really cared about doing the job well and having us be happy with their work. Really impressive. And they are so nice and so easy to have around. Neil's team kept everything so clean, you could hardly tell that they'd been there. Also, I was really concerned about the garden plants near the house getting damaged and not a single one was! They were really careful and conscientious but also efficient with their time. We had the exterior of our house (including some dryrot repair) and back deck repainted, as well as some paint-touch ups inside as well, and the work was all excellent. Neil is a good communicator (and for example, he reliably responded by text), and his crew were good painters, reliable, professional, and hardworking. We had considerable dryrot on our 2 chimneys that they repaired without delay with great result. The crew leader Charly was also excellent in daily on-site communication with us about progress and process, and showed us how he was doing things, while taking us on "walk-arounds" to be sure we were happy with the results. The 2 small areas of interior wall painting was equally excellent, including careful prepping and color-matching. We were especially impressed with how perfect the touch-up white paint on our kitchen cabinets came out, with perfect color match and no sign or paint lines! The back deck was repainted with a grey deck finish and came out looking like new. They also closed with a good clean up job. We would definitely use them again. Summary: My wife & I hired Neil Cudden Painting to paint the interior walls, stairway banister, and baseboards in our home. The team wrapped up the job on March 12 and the house looks terrific. The whole process from bid to completion took less than a month. The price was fair, the quality excellent, and the rate quoted was the rate billed. Very satisfied - highly recommended! Some Details: Jimmie the Operations Manager was on-time for the appraisal visit and Neil was prompt emailing the quote a day later. I got bids from 3 different highly-rated painting services. Neil Cudden Painting was the low bid. We went with NCP because of the price, their solid Yelp reviews, and because they're local here in Daly City. Their pricing was all-inclusive: labor, paint, and materials like brushes & rollers, tarps, tape, etc. The painting started about 2 weeks later and took a little over a week to complete. The team (Jimmie with Paul and Trey) worked from 8am to 4pm M-F; they were punctual both start and finish. All 3 were on site the first day only; there was one or two painters on site the rest of the job. All NCP painters were personable and professional, quick to answer my questions and also quick to oblige a few minor requests. They did a really good job of cleaning up and storing their materials out of the living areas at the end of the day and over the weekend. Their standards were a bit higher than mine. I thought the walls looked passable after two coats but they were right, it looked fantastic after three coats (the original horrible yellow color was a monster to cover with a whiter paint - we went with Benjamin Moore's "Distant Gray" which I think looks very elegant). I'm really glad we hired professionals rather than me doing it myself. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. They deserve it. read more

Absolutely, unbelievable service and quality! Neil is a just a great guy, so it was lovely to deal with him. Found and contacted him via Yelp and along with three other painters. Neil's quote was extremely competitive. We were waiting for a HELOC to fund to pay for our house painting and had to re-schedule; Neil was very accommodating, which I'm sure was difficult during what was a very busy time for him. Painters Mike and Nick were total pros! Our house is a 1943 bungalow that has been added on to in a million different ways AND it was BARN RED, so it was not an easy job! I had an exterior paint project and scheduled an meeting with Neil. He showed up on time for the initial meeting and within one hour after leaving, the estimate was waiting in my inbox. His estimate included all necessary supplies and even though there were a couple of obstacles during the project, he took care of everything without adding to the cost. His team did a great job making sure all my window frames and stucco cracks were sealed to prevent any future water damage. 3 days into the project, they hadn't gotten around to the windows yet, but a storm was coming and I had a couple of leaky windows. I really appreciate the fact that they made sure to seal them before they left for the day. When the project was completed, they took all their trash and left me with plenty of extra paint. Total crook. Do not hire this man, he is a fraud. He came to my house, gave us a quote that we were happy with and seemed a nice guy. It took longer than normal to book him though as he wouldn't return messages, and when he finally did, he said a mentally ill relative had slowed him down. The intended job included power washing the exterior of our house before painting, which is absolutely standard for any paint job. His plan was to show up with a helper and use his own power washing equipment, also standard. First he cancelled the appointment the day of, saying his power washer was broken. So we rescheduled, and when he arrived, he had no equipment and no helper. He actually proceeded to try to hose down our house with our own garden hoses. Hosing a house down does not prepare it for painting, there were dirt and cobwebs left everywhere. When I called him to complain, he made up a story about how he had intended to do a second power washing all along...which was never the case. I fired him and asked for my $1900 deposit back, which he said he'd put in the mail right away. He didn't. The money was never returned. Now I'm going to work with the contractors licensing board and the bbb to shut him down. read more

Met Neil after he did a neighbor's house we liked.. He gave us an estimate. That was earlier this year and we had to keep postponing because of the weather. Finally we were able to schedule our job in July. We had several trouble spots needing extra attention including weathered wood, mildewed gutters, some stucco joint separation beneath a deck and along the foundation and some small stucco cracks; a previously poorly finished front door with rough surface and uneven lines around garage doors where some previous work brought stucco up over wood frames. Neil's crew was able to solve all the issues to our satisfaction. The stucco work was clean as was cosmetic work on rough deck issues. The garage door lines were cut clear and straightened. Neil's lead crewman Mike was able to power sand the rough front door (after one coat failed to smooth out old brush strokes. Halfway through the job we realized the color we had chosen for the whole house wasn't as appealing ax we had hoped. We halted painting until we could find.a snappier second color for the lower part of our split level. Neil was courteous and totally accommodating. We negotiated the additional cost of paint and labor and the work continued. The finished job is beautiful. And to top it off, Mike reduced by half the negotiated labor charge on the repainted portions for the new color. We are delighted with the project, the careful prep, painting and all the detail Work. For the scope of work completed I really think that I got great value for money.
