He took a neglected home in total disrepair and rebuilt the front ornament, replaced doors down below, shored up and sealed front stairs that might have eventually caved, removed years of algae and buildup and worked with window and gutter people. I have a concrete floor in my garage that had been previously painted, but chipped and cracked in many places. I contracted with JLM Painting to prepare and coat the garage floor with an epoxy finish . One of the things that was most impressive about the company is that the workers were extremely conscientious, and filled all of the chips and cracks, so that the surface was uniform when the epoxy finish was applied. Working with JLM painting was the worst contractor experience I have had in two years of remodeling/building. I hired JLM to paint the exterior of a brand new garage (brand new, unblemished siding) as well as stain a garage door, a set of French doors and two exterior doors for my house. The entire job was supposed to be $4k. Garage Exterior Issues: Jeremy's crew used a thick nap roller, rushed the job on a hot day, and slapped such a thick coat of paint on the new siding that it wound up looking like an orange peel texture had been applied (see pictures). Jeremy acknowledged some of the issues but fought me on others, agreeing to have one of his guys sand down roughly 1/3 of the garage to prep for repaint. Garage Door Issues: About halfway through the sanding process, on a weekend I was home working, the stained garage door collapsed because his crew hadn't properly supported the weight, balancing a 250 lb garage door on thin pieces of door jamb (see images). The fall took two chunks of the door that cannot be completely fixed. One of Jeremy's guys tried to accuse me of denting the door, which was impossible because it had been completely in the control/possession of Jeremy's stain person. Door Issues: As we looked further at the other doors, we also realized what a rushed and poor stain job his stain person had done. There were blotches in multiple spots from resting the not yet dry stained door on rags (could not be removed). There was dirt, debris, and paint brush pieces sealed into the stain (also impossible to remove). At the end of the day I wound up paying $1000 since JLM refunded me 50% of my deposit. However, I would up having to pay another painter $4000 to finish the sanding and paint the exterior. I also had to pay $850 per door ($3,400 total) to have then restored and as well of the debris and paint brush pieces removed. Altogether the misadventure with Jeremy cost me $8,400 when to hire someone capable from the beginning would have been around $6,000. The doors still have issues and will never be completely fixed. If you want quality and willingness to take responsibility for mistakes, I would steer clear of JLM painting. read more

Sal was the supervisor and was here with two other professional workers. I didn't have the paint color of an existing wall and they were able to match it perfectly. Although much of the work was straight-forward walls, trim and doors, I had them paint the cherry cabinets in my kitchen. Five stars are not enough for JLM! We've been using them for years! When we built our new home 5 years ago, Jeremey and crew gave us an extremely competitive bid, started work on time, and finished ahead of schedule!!! The crew was professional, and respectful. The job site was always clean at the end of the day. We had a very hard time choosing colors and Jeremey was so wonderful about being patient with us, putting on several different colors until we found the ones we loved. When we rebuilt a small bathroom off of our shop, Jeremey and crew blended the old whitewashed shop with the newly remodeled bathroom. Can't even tell it's new. When we remodeled an old mobile home to convert it into office space, we called JLM to paint it inside and outside. They even painted the roof with a special rubber paint to seal it up. When we built several small outbuildings, it was JLM again. Perfectly matched the colors we have on the main house. Recently we bought an early 1980's home that was all redwood siding. HATED the dark and dreary old redwood but didn't have the budget to replace all of the siding. Not only was JLM, by far, the lowest bid, but the quality of their work has been, once again, above and beyond what we could have expected given how much material that was required! I had painted a portion of the house but the remaining areas were not safely within my reach and the house is on a steep hill (they installed and worked with safety ropes and ladders throughout). Jeremey and his crew were friendly, polite, on time, and completely professional during the whole job. The job was done during the Covid-19 quarantine, but they wore masks and kept the proper social distancing. They powerwashed the house, did minor shingle repair, caulked where needed, masked the windows, and sprayed two coats of paint ( I didn't see any over-spray after they were done).
