Mike and his crew's work is simply awesome and shows some true artistry. New Leaf built a rock retaining wall and a flagstone patio along with some drainage and decorative gravel in out small backyard. The rock retaining wall in particular is quite beautiful as it slopes and curves around the patio. Mike was also very responsive and kept us updated on the whole process. Overall, we're very happy with the results and transformation! I'm sure we'll hire New Leaf again whenever the next landscaping project come around. read more

New Leaf Landscaping installed a new paver walkway on the side of our yard. Mike was very good at scoping out the design and ensuring no surprises. He was very knowledgeable about how the walkway would impact our current shrubs, trees, fence, irrigation system, and drainage. We discussed the impact at the beginning of the project and we agreed on the best solutions. It was easy talking to Mike, he is enthusiastic and listened to our ideas and figured out the best way to implement them. Mike and his crew were on time, worked hard, did a great job of installing the paver walkway, minimized messes, and cleaned up after the job was done. We look forward to many years of enjoying our new walkway. Thanks to Mike and his crew! read more

Mike was recommended to us by our general contractor. Boy are we glad! We had a very specific vision for our backyard, inspired by our favorite hotel in LA. We worked with Mike and Johnson's Pool to bring this dream to life. It turned out better than we could have imagined. Mike is a true artist. His vision and ideas are amazing! He and his great team are professional, kind and hard working. Project was on budget. The quality of the work is above expectations. I really can't say enough good things. Over the few months they were here, Mike and team sort of felt like part of the family. We actually miss having them around. Yet we are left with an amazing front and backyard that we will cherish for years to come. Thank you New Leaf! Update 8/19- had a water leak (part of the old system that was there when we bought the home). Called Mike and he and Alberto. They came that morning and fixed it within a couple hours. No charge!!! Wow!! Now that is service!!! read more

Mike has been our only go to landscaper for many years. He has designed, done the installation of his design, installed drip irrigation and installed the timer. His crew is also well trained and easy to work with. We are very pleased with New Leaf Landscaping! read more

Mike and New Leaf were recommended to us by our pool contractor to landscape our new build. While we had a couple of bids, Mike had the most thoughtful approach to our project, suggesting variations from our drawn up plan, and pivoting when the plan was not going to work, to come up with something even better. He built a really nice pergola and bocce court, and gave us lots of great plant selections (our place seems to be a real haven for hummingbirds now). We had lots of subpar experiences with other contractors throughout our build process, but Mike and his team stayed on schedule, on budget, and were always around when we had questions or changes to discuss, and he always had great ideas/suggestions. Would absolutely recommend New Leaf very highly. read more

I was walking my dog, and noticed new leaf landscaping was working on my neighbors yard. This was Aug 3 and inquired if Mike and his crew do tear out my lawn and cap my sprinkler heads on the lawn. Mike told me that they were "super" busy, but would come by and give me a quote. Within an half hour I had an extremely reasonable quote, and said he could start the job tomorrow. I was dumbfounded, I told him yes and they started on Friday and finished on Monday. Dealing with any contractors are generally a massive pain, but with Mike I felt I had know him for 20 years. I would highly recommend new leaf landscaping, and I'm positive you won't regret this choice. I was happy with the job they did, I know if you choose them you will be happy with the outcome. Ps I have not met Mike or his crew prior to aug 3 22 RL. I would give new leaf landscaping more stars if I could. read more

I knew of Mike from a previous large landscaping project he had done that was very impressive, so I asked him to help us with our home project. We wanted to remove our front yard lawn and replace it with drought tolerant plants as well as putting in a couple of small trees between the sidewalk and the street. We discussed what we wanted and he gave us a competitive quote. As in-he was several thousand less than the high bid and several above the low bid, except the low bid clearly was not nearly as knowledgeable, creative or professional. His crew showed up with Mike and they were able to complete our job in just 2 days over a weekend. They were very efficient, polite, and knew what they were doing. They put in a bunch of really nice plants that we collaborated on with him but that he ultimately picked out as well as 2 new tress. Those all have yet to grow in. What he also did was a beautiful new flagstone walkway between our driveway and front steps that ran parallel to the house, with a matching set in front of our house between the sidewalk and the street. Here is the kicker: We had a really complex watering system for our front and back yards running on two separate timers that was there when we moved in 10 years ago. Because of that one, of the lines on the watering system in front blew out the day after they left and was spraying water onto the sidewalk. His guys came back and fixed it immediately. Mike pointed out that the watering system was overkill now as he had simplified it by like 70%. He offered to come back and reprogram our two watering controllers down to one. So we took him up on that. He charged us basically an extra hour's work, but he ended up spending practically the entire day rerouting everything. Plus he and his foreman went around and checked and fixed every single plant irrigation dripper in our front and back yards- since we have fruit trees, flowers and veggies in that back so we probably have over 50! In addition we had some extra flagstone left from the front job that they had left on the driveway worth several hundred dollars. So we decided we would use them in the back, but the 4 or 5 slabs were way too big for us to manage. They were 3x4 feet and weighed close to 200 Lbs. each. No problem- he put those in back for as well. So in our opinion Mike went the extra mile and a half- we sure got our money's worth! We would definitely recommend Mike/New Leaf for any landscaping project. Great job Mike -thank you! read more

I love turning over a new leaf. Our Flume was telling us we had a pretty significant leak and neither our plumber or a leak detection service could pinpoint it! Enter Mike! Saw a recommendation for him on Facebook and he squeezed us in. "I hate wasting water," he said. We agree. He went through each and every one of our irrigation valves and even showed us how to troubleshoot ourselves. He found the culprit causing the leak and lo-and-behold no more water loss. Very friendly, fair and cost-effective and I would hire him back in an instant if I had any landscaping projects. His work looks amazing. read more

My husband and I were creatively stuck on what to do with our front yard for years. We had 3 consults with 3 different Landscape Designers, including Mike. We just kind of knew he was our guy when we met him. We loved his creative ideas and his enthusiasm to turn our jumbles of inspiration into a beautiful, physical reality. He took my millions of questions and input and transposed them into creating a yard that surpasses what we previously envisioned. As a person and a business owner, Mike is creative, supportive, has an expansive vision yet is down to earth, and has a true connection to plants. If you're looking to co-create an incredible landscape with someone, definitely give Mike a call. Mike came out to give us an estimate on landscaping our back yard. I noticed that he didn't measure anything or take notes like the other landscapers that had come out to give us estimates and I thought that was rather odd. But he was very friendly, so we overlooked that. He never got back to us with an estimate, so after about 10 days I messaged him to ask what the estimate was and he said he suddenly had two big projects that were going to take him into next year. Yeah, right! Not a very good liar! I appreciate honesty in people I do business with. He should've been upfront with us if he didn't want to do our job instead of stringing us along. Trust is essential in any type of partnership. That's a bad faith way to do business Mike! read more

Mike and his crew just finished our backyard. We are beyond pleased with the result. We had a large redwood deck built and a gravel patio and pathway added. They had to demo a patio cover and take out old raised beds, which the crew completed in one day. Mike spent extra time on the deck, making sure everything aligned properly and fit into the odd shaped areas around the house. Mike and the crew showed up on time and worked consistently, even in the heat and smoky air. Mike is easy to work with and willing to listen to your ideas and incorporate them into the plan. He makes the process easy for the customer. They're a busy business, but worth the wait. I highly recommend New Leaf Landscaping! read more
