Notification that the appointment was set up at the last visit - which BTW was one year ago
Ash K.

Update based on Michael's response: Thanks for posting your reply, I appreciate that you are looking into it. However, your description of the events is not complete and not entirely accurate. 1. We did not call and push your staff to make time available because we would lose benefits - that is just not true. The appointment was set up at our last visit (an year ago in December), and an email was sent by your office to let us know that we have the appointment. Please notice email picture - but you must have it as well, since it came from you. We also never called and reconfirmed. But we did click on the button in the email to confirm. 2. The appointment was for Saturday at 9:30, and yes, it may seem like it was short notice, but it was the first thing in the morning we did. We didn't reconfirm the appointment the day prior. Please check your records. 3. On Friday afternoon, Fremont / Alameda County sent emergency alerts asking to limit non-essential travel and to stay at home. 4. My wife called and told Kristy that she is "not comfortable" given the COVID announcements, at which point, Kristy said that there would be a $45 charge for same day cancellations per appointment. When she mentioned that she is not feeling "comfortable" to come in, she was told that you will be mailing us a $90 bill and also sending to collections if we don't pay. That was the point at which that call ended - customers don't like to be threatened in general. We received your bill with the handwritten collections threat promptly on Monday. Finally: My wife told me what happened and I had her call back and share that part of not being comfortable was that she was feeling a bit under the weather. So she asked, if someone is sick, do you still charge this cancellation fees. The answer came back again, "Yes - you will need to pay". Overall, I care less about $90, but I care more about how we are treated. Rude behavior is not ok. I look forward to connecting to figure out how this can be resolved.

Me in their front desk.

The whole experience was incredibly smooth. Terry reached out a week beforehand for a virtual consult to walk me through the procedure and pricing. He was super transparent with the cost breakdown and made sure I was getting the best value. He even arranged for me to pick up my pre-op instructions and eye drops early so I'd be 100% ready for the big day. I ended up going to the Daly City location to fit their surgery schedule, so I just had to make sure I planned out my ride accordingly. On the day of, the consultation was very thorough. Honestly, the vision tests felt even more rigorous than my regular optometrist appointments (they had me reading very tiny letters and I had a hard time- but I guess that's good they were being as precise as possible). I was cleared for surgery soon after and they were even able to move my procedure time up, which was a nice bonus. Dr. Barrion was awesome. You can tell she has a ton of experience, and she walked me through exactly what to expect right before we started. Eye surgery can definitely feel a bit scary, but her reassuring tone kept me feeling pretty calm and safe throughout. It was not painful at all. The whole thing was done in about 10 minutes! As for the recovery, I was required to close my eyes for at least 4 hours immediately after getting home. It was a bit uncomfortable but overall tolerable, and the eye drops really helped. The turnaround was so quick that I was actually back at work the next day. My vision fluctuated a little during the first week, but it was still way better than my original eyesight. At my 5-day post-op visit, I was already seeing 20/15 in one eye and the other is nearly 20/20! I haven't had any dry eye symptoms, and while there's still some slight haziness around bright lights, the team assured me that should fully stabilize in a few months. It's already been such a massive improvement in my daily life. My only wish is that I did it sooner. Totally worth it!

I've been considering to get Lasik surgery for a few years now. My last consultation (2-3 years…read moreago) from my eye doctor mentioned I still have to wait until my vision is stable. Dec. 2025 - I had my annual eye check up from Bella x Specs Optometry and I asked for facility recommendations and suggested Furlong Vision Correction. I had a pamphlet, looked them up and scheduled my complimentary consultation on 1/6/2025. 1/6/2025 consultation day - Jennifer was assigned to me and she was very helpful! I felt at ease that they werr giving a lot of information about my options and if I'm a candidate for Lasik surgery. Dr. Michael Furlong also checked in on my consultation day. Good news: I'm a good candidate to proceed with Lasik. I asked for potential payment options so I can prepare with the surgery cost. I applied for CareCredit financing and got approved. I then scheduled my surgery appointment on 1/30/2025. There were multiple pre-operative measurements I took to make sure I'm all set. The whole process was easy! I got nervous a few days before my surgery. It wasn't a good idea that I checked videos about Lasik. Anyway, I checked in with Jennifer and expressed my concerns and she addressed it very kindly. Day of surgery (1/30/2025): I followed the instructions I have and made sure I had a good rest. I took the sedative pill they offered so I can be more calm during the process. The actual procedure was fast and easy, thank goodness! Every step -- the doctors where there and they were informing me of what's happening. Dr. Furlong was present and checked my eyes after the procedure. I think it took less than 15 minutes. My vision was very hazy at first and that day, he suggested to sleep/rest as much as I can. Next day (1/31/2025): My initial post-operative appointment. I did have a very irritating itchiness in my right eye that subsided the next day. Again, following as much as I can with the post op activities really helped! Now, it's been almost 2 months. My vision is almost 20/20 though my left eye has -0.50 grade. I've been wearing corrective eyeglasses for 15+ years. My last check up before my lasik surgery was OD: -5.00 DS, OS: -4.00 -1.25 x 180. A huge change and I have way better vision now! I'm maintaning the preservative-free eye drops. My experience and lasik surgery with Furlong Vision Correction is a success! Thank you so much Dr. Furlong for ensuring my lasik surgery went extremely well! :) Thanks to Jennifer, Maeghan and the rest of your team for making it possible!

Review of the Consultation Process…read more Communications were handled through email. I got referred to this place through my insurance and someone from their office reached out after to schedule my appointment and handle the intake forms. Checked in at the desk and filled out the intake form. The pdf e-form didn't get recorded for some reason. I'd recommend saving the file after you've filled it out and emailing it directly back to the staff. Not a big deal, took five minutes to redo it. Consultation process was chill. Just got my eye pressure measured by Faith, a series of eye scans by Carlos, and then an exam by their optometrist, Dr. Tran. Impressed at how comprehensive it was. Dr. Tran measured the range of my current prescription submitted. Just the standard stuff from a regular the exam. Cool witty personality, got through the quick and dirty process real fast. Next, I was walked to another room where I chatted with their patient counselor Jian and Dr. Scott Hyver on a Skype call for about 40 minutes to discuss my results, pricing, and options. Two weeks later, I had a 30 minute Zoom call with Dr. Robert Lin. Dr. Lin was super personable and we chatted through my charts, risks, process, and everything else regarding EVO ICL. While I didn't end up going forward with Dr. Lin and IQ, I had a great experience overall with their team. I'm sure it's a great spot to get your eye procedures done. Tip: check with your vision insurance on discounts. I got referred to this place through EyeMed and they offered a 15% discount. At the time of this review, there aren't any promos or discounts here separate from insurance.

I went to the optometrist for the first time since seeing him over 20 years ago. I'm 51 this year. I play a lot of golf and haven't been able to see the ball as clearly as before so wanted to see how my vision was. It was not bad, but was not like before. Well, my vision is 20/20 (20/15 after Lasik). I'll been blessed to have such great vision for so long. Anyways, the Optometrist asked who my Lasik surgeon was and I told him Dr. Hyver. He said that the surgeon did one of the best jobs he has seen for a procedure done over 20 years ago and that's why my vision is still so good. He wouldn't have noticed I had Lasik if I didn't tell him. So glad I went with Dr. Hyver back then. Thanks Scott for all those years and the years to come!

I was genuinely planning to bring my whole family here despite the office not accepting our insurance, simply because of how impressed I was with her care. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience has been frustrating and disheartening. I made it very clear from the beginning that I understood my insurance wasn't accepted and asked the front office to just charge me whatever was necessary. Despite this, I was billed incorrectly not once, not twice, but three separate times--and I paid each time in good faith, trusting it was finally resolved. Then, months later, I received yet another bill in the mail for residual charges. At this point, it feels disorganized and frankly a bit exploitative. It's really disappointing to have such a positive clinical experience ruined by administrative mishandling. As much as I appreciated Dr. Moore's care, I won't be returning--and I won't be bringing my family either. This kind of billing confusion and delayed surprise charges is unacceptable.

I regularly see very elderly patients with complex eye issues here. The very bad part. They're pretty bad at the total turnaround time. While they have improved significantly in making sure that patients get seen quickly by the staff, it's often the doctor who seems to be the bottleneck here. Perhaps, if they're seeing so many patients they need to increase the number of doctors available. Been waiting here for the doctor for over 30 mins. And was just told by the attendant that there are additionally two more patients ahead of me. I cannot be wasting over an hour waiting on a doctor. My experiences have consistently been exceptional, which led me to transfer our care to her new location in Fremont. Two years ago, I encountered an unfamiliar situation regarding my eye exam and contact lenses for the first time. As I was new to the process, I felt a bit lost. After receiving my glasses, I decided to visit another optometry office for my contact lens prescription and exam to avoid the hassle of returning to Fremont constantly, especially since I live quite a distance away. However, I found that making the trip once a year for my family's check-ups was reasonable. Last year, my children, husband, and I had the pleasure of being seen by Dr. Young. She was incredibly kind and understanding, recommending that I consider both contact lenses and glasses during my visit. I appreciated her approach as it allowed me to take my time in making a decision without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. This year's experience exceeded my expectations. Just four days after purchasing new glasses, my daughter accidentally broke hers. However, Annel, one of the staff members, went above and beyond to assist us. Her kindness and attentiveness made me feel truly heard and valued. There was a moment where I contemplated switching to a different optometry office after two decades of loyalty, but after these recent positive interactions, I've decided to remain with Tri-City. I feel grateful not only for the wonderful care we receive but also for the improvements in staff that have made our experiences even better.

Dr. Shital Chatwani rushes through the appointment, speaks down to the patient, does not answer questions clearly, and becomes visibly impatient when questions are asked. The entire interaction felt less like a medical appointment and the clear priority seemed to be getting the patient out quickly and into ordering expensive glasses, rather than taking time to explain things or address concerns. It honestly felt like dealing with a businessperson more than a doctor. Unfortunately, the poor experience did not stop with the doctor. The overall leadership and culture of this office seems weak, and it shows in the behavior of the staff. There are many employees walking around, yet when customers have questions, they often say "I'm busy" and walk away without offering to find someone else to help. In a professional practice, you would expect at least a basic effort to redirect you to another staff member. That simply does not happen here. The staff appear selectively nice to people they are trying to secure business from but otherwise the service is consistently rude, rushed, and unhelpful. The overall attitude is 'take it or leave it.' Even when there is no problem, you are treated with disregard. If there is a problem, I would not trust this office to handle it with care or professionalism. There are many excellent optometrists who accept VSP and other insurance plans. I strongly encourage people to look elsewhere and consciously choose to support a practice that actually respects its patients.
