The dogs did well but this type of training did not addresses some of the behavior issues. 1 Star - Very Disappointing Experience…read more This evening my wife and I went into the Petco in Midlothian, TX at 7:46 PM. The store was slow, with only one customer checking out, yet the level of service was terrible. I spent about 20 minutes in the fish department and not a single employee came by to offer help. My wife asked Kevin, the night manager, if someone could assist me. He called over a young lady with burgundy hair, who told my wife, "I'll help him soon, I just need to turn off the reptile tank lights." During that time, we made eye contact multiple times, but she never acknowledged me or said a word. When she finally came over, her attitude was rushed and unfriendly. She asked, "Do you know what you want and how many?"--very much a hurry-up tone. While waiting, I noticed dead fish in multiple tanks throughout the department. Because of this, I told her never mind and decided not to buy anything. I then spoke directly to Kevin and asked what was going on. He told me they were having serious pH water issues and that the tanks should be quarantined. Yet they are still selling these sick fish. I've been a loyal customer at this location for years, but between the lack of customer service, poor attitude, and knowingly selling unhealthy fish, I've lost confidence in this store. Unfortunately, I'll be taking my pet business elsewhere. Thank you for the response. I'm requesting contact from corporate or an area/regional manager with a direct phone number or email. Calling the store number will not resolve this issue, as Kevin (the night manager involved) answered the phone when I just called. This concern goes beyond an in-store discussion, and I would appreciate escalation to the appropriate level of management.

During the first week there Heidi drew a bead on his intelligence and stubborn nature and let us know that he would need a firm but affectionate hand. She did not let him get away with his reluctance to submit even though he was pouty about it. When we picked him up, we were amazed! He followed our commands during our training session and retained much of what he learned. We had to go out of town for a funeral and then a few days later he was neutered, so he had a disruptive week but has gone back to obeying most of his commands. He even stops at doorways though I forget he is supposed to do it. Petey does have a larcenous side and is a stealthy counter surfer. He needs to be watched carefully and we are trying to tame the bandit in him. Otherwise he is delightful and fun to be around We had a house full of company last weekend and Petey did great with everyone, including two boys aged 10 and 12. Everybody fell in love with our sweet, smart, well behaved boy! We are so grateful to Heidi and EJ for giving us our darling, smart and obedient Petey. We give CK9 the highest praise and would recommend them to anyone who wants a well-mannered, well-trained canine companion. Yay!

Each of our three is completely different, and Heidi took the time to understand each of them individually. Rosie needed help with her anxiety, while Charlie and Lola had their own personalities and behaviors to work through. Heidi knew exactly how to approach each one and, just as importantly, taught us how to be better, more confident owners. The difference in our three dogs has been incredible. We have more control, better communication, and a much better understanding of what they need from us. Having three dogs with different personalities isn't always easy, and Heidi gave us practical tools that actually work in everyday life. What I love most is how much Heidi genuinely cares. His behavior has improved tremendously, and he is so much more manageable at home. I am beyond impressed with Melissa and the entire team. We had consulted with several trainers in the past who told us Buddy was too aggressive to work with, so I honestly wasn't sure a board and train program would even be an option. When we dropped him off, Buddy was very aggressive toward the staff, but Melissa was willing to give him a chance. Through her patience, consistency, and expertise, he gradually learned to trust her, and it was amazing to see the bond they built. I can't thank Melissa and the team enough for giving Buddy the structure, guidance, and confidence he needed. If you're looking for trainers who are knowledgeable, compassionate, and willing to work with challenging dogs, I highly recommend them.

Dropped him off 5/23/2026, went to our in-facility training on 6/6/2026 and he was perfectly fine (wanted to jump on us and kiss us but they didn't let him because he was in training to learn to be a better boy... wishing we got to have a few more kisses from him), facility contacted us 6/10/2026 evening and said he was being weird and that they'd monitor him, we had to put him down 6/11/2026 just 4 days before he was supposed to graduate and come home to us. Facility was so cold about the whole situation, didn't even apologize for our loss and has since ghosted me after requesting a refund (because not only do we no longer have a dog to use the service we paid for, we didn't even get to complete the course). The facility had him tested without our permission and the results showed he had contracted a contagious virus, which could have only been from this facility. He was a young, healthy pup who had never been around other dogs. We are so heartbroken and just hope this doesn't happen to anyone else who entrusts these people to care for their fur baby. I've given them plenty of time to try to make things right amicably. I am a very understanding person, but the fact that they couldn't even muster up the dignity to even respond to me was my last straw. Everyone who considers this facility needs to know the damage they have caused our family. Sammy boy was our baby girl's first birthday present last year and they were the best of friends. They were supposed to have the best childhood together and were completely robbed of that. He was never a bad dog but I wanted him trained to walk with me off-leash and he would occasionally have resource-guarding issues that I wanted to break. During the five weeks, I got to visit him only once but I knew he was in great hands. Shortly after I picked him up, we went on a road trip. And that's when strangers first started complimenting how well-behaved he is. After returning home, we started going back to his favorite dog park and people always asked how I got him so well-trained. A few months later, I guess I finally decided to try walking with him off leash following not only the training they gave him but me. I was shocked I actually had better control of him off leash than on. The Collar Club is definitely the best investment I've made in my dog and I'm so grateful I did.

Cancelled lessons on me the day of and even hours before constantly for personal plans. When I reached out about my issues with training I met with another trainer because it was agreed the training needed to be started over. We had one training session before I started working two jobs. I reached out and asked for a refund since I would no longer be able to do repeat training. Owner was supposed to call me but instead chose to text which shows how unprofessional they are. They insisted there would be no refund and my only option was repeat training. They were rude and condescending and completely unwilling to help or work with me. I asked for a copy of the contract I signed which does not say anything about no refunds. They told me that since their trainer had already been paid they couldn't help me. Unreal. The reason I signed up when I did was because I had just gotten my puppy and wanted to start training ASAP. I was unemployed at the time so the expense for training was a big one, but I believed it to be worth it as I had hopes for this dog to be a therapy dog. I had plenty of time then to go to training and work with her at home. With my new schedule for work everything would be far too disruptive. The contract I signed even states that for best results, things need to be completed in a timely manner. However the owner of the company tried to tell me even if the trainings were spaced out over a year it would be fine. I would have been better off watching YouTube videos and working from those.
