We had consulted with several trainers in the past who told us Buddy was too aggressive to work with, so I honestly wasn't sure a board and train program would even be an option. When we dropped him off, Buddy was very aggressive toward the staff, but Melissa was willing to give him a chance. Through her patience, consistency, and expertise, he gradually learned to trust her, and it was amazing to see the bond they built. I can't thank Melissa and the team enough for giving Buddy the structure, guidance, and confidence he needed. I walk in, and a lady was behind the counter, shaking her head, immediately said, "ma'am, we can't help your dog!" I was so embarrassed I was treated that way. I understand he is an anxious dog and we are training him but he is a rescue and he has anxiety. I was hoping that maybe someone would've come out and talked to me to explain why they can't help me instead of shaming me in front of other customers.

During the first week there Heidi drew a bead on his intelligence and stubborn nature and let us know that he would need a firm but affectionate hand. She did not let him get away with his reluctance to submit even though he was pouty about it. When we picked him up, we were amazed! He followed our commands during our training session and retained much of what he learned. We had to go out of town for a funeral and then a few days later he was neutered, so he had a disruptive week but has gone back to obeying most of his commands. He even stops at doorways though I forget he is supposed to do it. Petey does have a larcenous side and is a stealthy counter surfer. He needs to be watched carefully and we are trying to tame the bandit in him. Otherwise he is delightful and fun to be around We had a house full of company last weekend and Petey did great with everyone, including two boys aged 10 and 12. Everybody fell in love with our sweet, smart, well behaved boy! We are so grateful to Heidi and EJ for giving us our darling, smart and obedient Petey. Don't expect a program where you hand the dog off and she does all the work. This is only true if you go to day training in 2nd grade but otherwise you're the one needing to do the homework and training outside of class time. And it makes a difference!! Most anywhere I go I get complimented on Harper's behavior. She's a year old so we have been at it most of her life with breaks here and there. My first dog (german shepherd) didn't start training until she was 6 months old and she was already overstimulated and not socialized enough so unfortunately she can't get taken around much. I love all my dogs but Lisa's classes have really given me that relationship I needed with my dog as a companion. Now Harper and other dogs in our class have the upperhand when going to restaurants, dog sports, etc. Don't let someone else train your puppy! Start young and you will not regret it!! It has been 10 days since I picked up my puppy and I have not received an email (as Victoria told me I would before I left), about what my puppy was supposedly trained on! She didn't have my email address HOWEVER, I emailed it to her the very next day bright and early and never got a response! I feel as though he wasn't trained on ANYTHING because when I picked him up, he was jumping on Victoria (what I wanted him to learn NOT to do) as well as chewing on his leash (wanted him to learn NOT to do that either!) I'm not a professional dog trainer but I know consistency is key when learning something new so it is a complete DIS-service to NOT know what to continue to train my puppy on! Also, during pick up and drop off she had just gotten home from doing one on one trainings else where so how is my puppy getting trained when she's not there?? I feel like I got gypped into the training part of the service. The pluses to this review/business is that Victoria's home is very well equipped for a dog or puppy with a double gated outside play area, plenty of toys, and just all around great environment to also get well aquatinted with other pups. Before she entered our lives, our sweet pup (Oakley) was essentially a tiny, furry sprinkler of pee and a landmine factory of poop. Every day was a new guessing game of "What's that smell?" and "Oh no... I just stepped in it, didn't I?" Enter Victoria, the dog whisperer / saint / wizard / actual angel disguised as a trainer. We sent our puppy to her for board and train, and I swear she sent back a completely different dog--one that pees OUTSIDE. I repeat: OUTSIDE. I don't know what kind of Hogwarts-level sorcery she pulled, but it worked. And that's just the beginning! My dog now knows how to sit like a proper lady, "leave it" like it's hot, and stay "quiet"like a ninja. The jumping to greet everyone like they owe her money? Way down. The nipping with those razor-sharp baby teeth? She taught her that humans are friends, not chew toys. That's all just bonus material at this point--my bar was literally "Please just don't treat the living room like a toilet." Victoria is amazing at what she does, truly.
