Moved here a few years ago. Heard about this shop. My Family has had 5 service Stations for 50 years. Dave and Lin are just like my Dad running his business. Honest, to the point. Will not try to sell you items you don't need I have. 1969 firebird. He treated my concerns Like it was his car. Friendly. No bull kind of Guy! He has my Business forever. I've been coming to Ward's for over 5 years now and this is without a doubt, the best place to get your car fixed in the entire East Bay Area. And no, I'm not over -exaggerating. It's a family-owned and operated Auto Repair stop and it's a very personable experience. They greet you like they've known you forever and take care of your vehicle like it's one of their own. My favorite thing about this place is that when you ask them to fix it and it will stay fixed. I've gone to other places where they'll fix it and then a few weeks later the problem reoccurs again because they didn't do the job correctly, you know: the money scam auto repair places pull. This place has never done that. Once it's fixed, it's fixed for good and if they see new problems in your car, before fixing them and charging you when you come back to your car, they call you immediately and together, you work out a payment plan for the next time you bring it in or for that day. You genuinely can't beat the personable experience and it's what makes coming back to Ward's a few times a year more of a delight then a taxing experience. I love that if you can just pick his brain about anything regarding cars and he just a wealth of knowledge about everything. When my brakes went out a few years ago, he was so accommodating with getting them fixed and even gave me instructions on how to brake better in my car to prevent them from wearing so thin. I never had anybody really teach me how (scary, I realize), but it was nice of him to give me that knowledge. Ward's can get full pretty quick so your best bet is to get there super early in the morning, 7am is probably the best. You want to be one of the first cars there so that your car can get done in a timely manner. If not, call before hand to see what time is good to bring your car through. read more

I have had nothing but good interactions with this establishment. They are very professional and don't try and cheat you. In fact they will think something is an issue, change a part, and when they find out it isn't the problem, HE REMOVES it and doens't charge you for it! Dave Ward and his wife are both two frauds in a pod! They cleverly used a legal way to steal my 2007 Nissan Murano! I trusted leaving my vehicle in his care with the reassurance that he was going to replace the engine for the cost of repair in labor and parts for $4,000.00. He called me fir the, "Ok"...and I told him to go ahead and do it. He also asked if he can replace my battery and battery cable for $400.00. I told him to go ahead and do so. He replied, "Where are you getting all this money from?" I responded, "Oh, I'm gonna pay it with ny income taxes." He then asked, "Do you have your taxes now?" I replied, "No, I just filed." He then said, "Oh ok, well I'll get started on your vehicle and I will call you if I need your permission on anything else and you'llhear from me when your vehicle is ready." After approximately 2 weeks later, I recieved a lien hold letter from Wards Auto stating that he has placed a lien on my vehicle in the amount of $1,100.00. He decided to charge me for storage cost without making any repairs on my vehicle. This man creates schemes as he thought to put a lien on my car after I put it in his shop for the repairs that he promised to do and was supposed to fix two weeks prior. For the whole time of waiting those two weeks, he had me thinking my vehicle was undergoing repair. I immediately called him and when I asked what's going on? He told me that I need to pay him the $500 fir the battery repair cost and that I didnt pay. I then explained that I was under the impression that my engine was being repaired. He then just become irate and started yelling and screaming at me over the phone. I tried to keep him calm so that I can be able to get my car back. I then asked can I just come pick up my vehicle. He then said I have to pay him $500 for labor and parts for the new battery he put in my vehicle and for the battery fuse that he replaced. So, I called my boyfriend and asked him to go and get my car. And, he went up there immediately to pick up my Nissan Murano. And Dave was acting so racist and disrespectful for no reason towards my boyfriend who is a black American. My boyfriend called me and said the man Dave is talking to him crazy and he told him that he will need to pay him $1,100.00 to remove the lien after he tried to pay him the $500.00 to pick up the car. I heard him belligerently yelling in the background at my boyfriend. But he didnt let it affect him, he remained calm and just said that he was there to pay him the $500 for the battery. I then ended the call with my boyfriend and called the mechanic shop and spoke with a lady who claimed to be Dave's wife. I told her to tell Dave that we will pay him the $1,100.00 and that I just want my truck back. She relayed the message to him. But, then, that sociopath, Dave Ward blurted out to my boyfriend, "Im sick of you people!" And he refused to give him my car for the $1,100.00. He then deliberately lied and said that the bank whom I owe on the car told him to hold it. I was in shock wondering how did they know that I was behind on car payments??? Smh So it appears that they were basically rumbling through my glove compartment going through my things. I immediately contacted my bank and they said they did not say such and that the vehicle is charged off. They said the man at the mechanic shop emailed them and told them that he is holding my truck because they see that I owe on it. The bank told me to go up there and get my truck from him and that is between me and him whatever what he is trying to charge me. Anyway, save yourself the headache. Don't deal with these people.
