Best Fried Chicken in the state. If you don't like Walt's chicken there is something wrong with your taste buds.

I have been going to waltz for years. Since vandever avenue. I have always enjoyed the chicken. And I have visit this waltz several times. But this time the service was horrible the lady was rude, I was joking with her and she would not seem to be nice. To the point I was told hurry up give me your order I got people behind you you. It was bad enough got the customers behind me where White. Black people's order matters to. So I just paid for my lady's meal told her I did not want anything and left. I always try to support black businesses. As well as I know the owner from when he used to work at Walt's on vandever avenue. will consider going to the one on Miller road now even though I like this waltz a lot better read more

Damn this was tasty chicken! Juicy, perfectly seasoned, crispy. Haven't had fried chicken that good out of the South since...well, since I was in the South! Good when it was fresh and hot, good when I ate it cold the next day straight out of the fridge (that's the real test y'all -- it still had some of that crunch). Totally worth the drive down from Philly! And next time, I'm trying some of those yummy looking sides. read more

Best fried chicken in Wilmington! Once you have Walt's you will not be returning to KFC or Popeye's anytime soon. Their skin is crispy, has the right spices and the meat is always tender and flavorful. The little rolls that come with the meal are so simple yet the perfect addition. The people are very, very nice and friendly, and the food is pretty reasonably priced... but... the chicken is just average to me. I know, I know, Walt's- the prize of Northern Delaware's fried chicken, but it's just OK in my mind. It's overly crispy, and it isn't salted enough (and I don't even like a lot of salt on my food- but it says a lot about the chicken when you need more salt to hide the blandness). Also, what the hell is up with the "rolls"? Generic 3 by 3 inch white flour rolls? I mean, I wasn't expecting Cracker Barrel-esque rolls but they should be embarrassed by what they put out. Overall, they're not awful, but I probably won't be going back. If you're in the area and want some good chicken, try out the new Semo's on West 9th Street, or Royal Farms or KFC on Kirkwood Highway. read more

There really is no place to sit. And ambience is not it's high point. But this is by far the BEST fried chicken in Delaware. A brown paper of bag of 10 pieces of their fried dark chicken; sauce; plenty of napkins, a car with directions to Brandywine Park and you are minutes away from the best picnic ever. read more

I get trays of Walt's fried chicken for family get togethers & everyone loves it. If you ask, they'll give you sides of wing & bbq sauces. The staff is really nice and always offers to carry the trays out to my car. Highly recommended. read more

Walt's Fried Chicken may be some of the best Fried Chicken I've ever had. I've been there multiple times and every time is as good as the one before. The location isn't the best; located in downtown Wilmington the parking can be tough and the the surroundings may be outputting. But the food is great! When I go there I usually get the Breast Special which is a pretty solid deal you get a breast, a wing, and fries for under $6. The chicken is nothing short of amazing but the sides are average at best. The service is usually fast and the people there are friendly. If you are longing for some fried chicken and are in the Wilmington area look no further, Walt's Fried Chicken is the place to go. read more

Best fried chicken I've found in Wilmington. It's a small hole in the wall type of place but don't let that scare. The chicken is awesome.

Pretty good fried chicken, but could have been a bit more crispy on the outside. Flavorful, not too greasy and cooked all the way through (which is always a plus!). Greens tasted straight out the can, but mac and cheese was good and cheesy. Sweet potato pie was really good, but the banana pudding was by far the best of the two (but it was close!). They also had a very good selection of desserts, accept credit cards and have parking (but i just pulled up in front on the street). Overall, I would recommend the food, minus the greens, and will def be back again. read more

Damn good chicken, plus! Wow! Walt's is absolutely fantastic chicken. Widely regarded as the best chicken in the state, it is aldo probably the best eatery in the city (seriously). The chicken is so juicy, moist, succulent, tender yet crispy. Always served fresh and piping hot. Never had a bad piece of Walt's. You will NEVER go back to a KFC or a Popeyes again. What can I say? Walts is yummy. I would suggest cutting back on the salt. There have been times when I felt it was almost inedible due to the sodium content. So...cut back on the salt and the chicken is perfection. read more
