This park has been a favorite of my kids since they were toddlers. It's completely fenced in and…read morethats great because the Conduit runs along side it and the traffic is pretty heavy. A bit noisy and since its neighboring JFK airport there's the added airplane noises. Kids don't seem to mind or care for that matter. During hot months it's a heat buster heaven with the giant frog sprinklers blasting. Most areas are shaded by trees and wind is always blowing here. Lots of benches around and some tables with chairs. Basketball court and handball courts are at one end. Major downside here however is that there's no bathroom. The location serves as more like a backyard playground to many of the homes that are across the street . Still not a good excuse to not have a bathroom. There's no direct parking spots right outside the park either. Its the kind of location that you would probably drive by and then wonder how to get into the park but by that time you've already passed it. So the tip is to drive down Lefferts Blvd a block or 2 and find parking on one of the side streets to the left or right . Then walk back to the park. (Be careful crossing- it's the Conduit after all,but there is a crosswalk) If you're ever flight delayed this is a good park to come with little ones to kill time and burn off some energy. Its a quick walk over from the Long Term Parking area at JFK. You'll see lots of airline workers who live close by walking to work.

The park has a nice shaded area and a decent amount of threes that makes for some real nice scenery. This park is good for after school, or just chilling out on the benches enjoying some music. I go through this park on a regular basis it is about less than a block away from the jfk airport .and the jfk airtrain is right there also .and if you are interested in long term parking it is also there. I will definitely go back there in the future

Their website says they're open Friday to Sunday, and there's no update on their Facebook page, but they are open! The carousel is the main draw obviously. When we went (early May 2021) there were a few other rides open, but not all. There was no line at all for any of the rides, and the staff were mostly nice. We were told to keep our masks on at all times, and there was hand sanitizer everywhere.

It has been deemed a historic national site, as the initial carousel was built in 1903, only to be rebuilt in 1966 after a fire. It now sits in Woodhaven, Queens, restored to its former glory and awaiting children from all the borough and beyond. One wouldn't think the NY Carousel would be an underrated family activity given its history, but too many folks are unaware that it exists even now. The city has taken great steps to ensure its longevity and anyone looking for kid friendly activity or a little nostalgia has come to the right place. While it is a short ride in the natural beauty of the park, the surrounding space makes it an ideal getaway for families who want to book the space for gatherings of whatever kind. The Carousel itself is the main attraction of course, though there are other rides for kids that range from a train ride to a recently added mini ferris wheel dubbed the "Woodhaven Wheel." Ticket costs for the rides vary, but the last time I checked it was $35 for a 10-pack (i.e. $3.50 a ticket). While there are some small carnival games and story telling sessions, this is not a substitute for any major carnival / amusement park on a bigger scale in any way. Think of this as a place to kill a couple of hours with the young ones. I'd recommend bringing food in and avoiding their options (think hot dogs, small packs of chips, etc.) if at all possible. They've closed this section of the park for the rest of 2020, but I sense that in 2021 that they'll take great measures to ensure everything is safe for youngins / carefree adults to partake.

I absolutely love the new equipment and the overall layout of the park and it's new safety features. The only thing I can't seem to locate is a water fountain. I take great joy in watching my toddler run around and use everything. It didn't use to and I fully believe it's because the old park was not really all that fun looking to him. But this new equipment has bright colors, fun little extras like a whistle and a telescope and it's very inviting and enticing to come play with. Every parent/grandparent I've come in contact with since the new renovation has wholeheartedly agreed with my statements. I'm looking forward to continuing to come here with my son and my husband. It's one of the few nice spaces around here and I hope my fellow patrons keep it looking that way for a long time to come.

I derive great pleasure watching people enjoying the parks -- whether playing chess, tossing a frisbee or just socializing -- this and more was rampant on a beautiful summer day in mid September. I sat enjoying my lunch and took in the park which was sectioned into 1/6 rectangles. What was unique was the section of green grass & trees whom species I could not determine, a London Spruce perhaps. City parks lack nature for the most part, this made me smile a happy face. Four handball courts, one full court basketball court, high schoolers cackling and roughhousing, oldies at the chess tables and working bathrooms. Great park to spend a little time, even though built below a very busy subway stop which takes a bit of the tranquillity away.

Each nearby park I have strolled, jogged or bike ridden through has had somewhat if a facelift. From miniscule improvements like new brickwork and the planting of flower beds to a beautiful new running track, such as Victory Field received. Surrounding the hybred rubber clay surface of the well defined white lined lanes there are areas for additional physical exercise needs. You can do situp's, pullup's pushups, crunches without having to lay in the dirt. The baseball field was redone within the same time frame and as I pass by on a lazy Sunday afternoon, I enjoy looking at the excitement of the young ball players on the field With an elevated mound the pitcher looks in deep at the catchers signs and quisically shakes him off. It must feel like Yankee Stadium to the teams that play on the artificial turf, although Yankee Stadium is natural grass. Handball courts are always brimming with energy and competition. When I was coming up, all the best players played here and I still enjoy taking a quick seat on one of the clean and structurally sound park benches under the mighty Silver Oaks with my dog to watch a game.
