First time REALLY exploring Forest Park's trails in Queens today. If you are looking for a nice peaceful nature walk I definitely recommend coming here. We did a little over a mile & wished we could have kept going. I definitely will be coming back sometime soon to explore more.

I heard how big this park is and sadly I was not able to go to the walking trail on the eastern side. I am reviewing the part of the park that has the Visitor Center, Carousel, Bandshell, Picnic area, the Pond and the walking path up to the top of the hill. There is a huge parking lot in the middle of all. The grounds are well manicured, has lots of tree shades perfect for ground picnicking but picnic tables and grills are also available on some part. I heard of summer performances on the bandshell and I could imagine that it is always all packed. There is a huge audience seating benches for whoever is interested to watch the show . The carousel is closed right now due to Covid. Peeking inside the closed premises, I have noticed that there are closed food stands , dining tables and chairs and small playground. The pond center is a short walk from the main road. Going up hill along the walk path is such a treat both for walkers/joggers or bikers. There are tennis court and golf course all the way uphill for fans of those sports. I promised myself to come back and walk through the trail in the other side.

Not a super grassy park, but super chill. I came here for a spur of the moment family fun day and that's what it was. You can easily find a spot to bbq, have a birthday party or pull out a blanket and enjoy the sun. They also have an area that has a few rides for the kiddos to enjoy, like a carousel. They have some grills and tables. Come early to get a good spot. As well as a lot of shady areas and space to kick a soccer ball around.

This unimaginatively named park is actually a rather versatile public park with many different aspects to it. Right on the Brooklyn/Queens border, multiple transit routes cross through it, notably the Jackie Robinson Pkwy, Myrtle Ave, Woodhaven Blvd, Forest Park Drive, an active LIRR line and some abandoned tracks too. The major streets that form its boundaries are Union Turnpike, Myrtle Avenue, and Park Lane South. A full map of the park is here: http://forestparktrust.org/parks/forest-park/forest-park-features/ The park is essentially divided into two sections by Woodhaven Blvd. The western side is the site of a large golf course as well as a multitude of sporting fields, a music venue (Seuffert Bandshell), dog run, and barbecue area. At the Woodhaven Ave dividing point is the visitor's center, a carousel, and synthetic turf field. The eastern side is fully deserving of the name "Forest Park," an oasis of hiking trails and bridle paths, offering a fairly easy trio of loop trails (orange, 2.4 mi; blue, 1.75 mi; yellow, 1 mi) that cuts through very pretty forest. The bridle paths are paved, wide, and even easier to walk, and you may come across horses and riders. These paths and loop trails criss-cross each other, offering many routes to take (trail map here: https://www.nycgovparks.org/park-features/hiking/forest-park). It was a great experience to hike it, and the ease of the trails (limited inclines/declines and uneven ground) makes it accessible to many. A total of seven children's playgrounds (with public restrooms) are scattered along the streets bordering the park on both sides, although all are currently temporarily closed. Bikes are not permitted on the trails or bridle paths. Bikers can take the Greenway Bike Trail that runs all the way from one end of the park (Myrtle Ave & 79th Lane) to the other (Park Lane & 80th Rd). In the six years I've lived in Forest Hills, I've not visited Forest Park anywhere nearly enough. The eastern side is a terrific escape from the urban, without ever actually being that far from it, and quite beautiful. I've not visited the western side but will check it out sometime.

If you like walking in the woods and live near the J train this is the place to come. They have three clearly marked trails or you can just venture out on your own. There is also a bridle path so watch out for horse poop. There are bathrooms on both sides of Woodhaven as well as the bathroom near parking lot/amphitheatre. A beautiful park anytime of the year.

One of the things I first fell in love with when i moved to this neighborhood... and one of the things I am goin to miss now that I am moving back to the motherland (Brooklyn). "Its the Central Park of Queens" I couldnt agree more. Its a breath of fresh air after a crazy day in the city. I walk my dog here. I jog here. I clear my mind here. The trails are awesome! I do advise to visit this park during the day. As dusk approaches there are a lot of men in this park. Its the hot spot for men on the down low to get busy in the woods. The used condoms, viagra bottles and empty lube bottles deep in the woods are tell tale signs... also the dusky stroll in the woods taht I took with my dog prompted me to run outta there like a bat outta hell. Other than that, the park is very charming. The height of the trees with the rising sun make for awesome photos. I am really going to miss this park!

A little too green for my taste, but still love it. Way better than hipster prospect park and bougie central perk. Crowds are too crazy yet cuz of covid, so go and enjoy it now while you still can. The warmer weather will bring out the crowds.

I live 3 blocks away from one of the most amazing parks in the city: Forest Park. Every weekend I tried to take a few hours and go for short hikes here with my dog. It's safe (for dogs and humans) and it's a very large park. For nature lovers this is the perfect place to come and enjoy any weather here. I am absolutely in love with fall and this is the perfect to come, walk, get some fresh air on a nice weekend day. I have a very active dog so I take him here on weekends and unleash him. He loves it! And if he's happy I'm happy. The trees are marked clearly to assist with the hikes at different levels. This park is not only pet friendly it's also runner friendly, jogger friendly, biker friendly and rollerblader friendly. The park is divided into many different parks and if you are keen to bring outdoors and being active this is a great place to be. I consider myself lucky to live so close to this park. I tell all of my friends about this park because they constantly think Queens is not the bomb but just look at these photos! How could one not love Forest Park!

Nice large park in the middle of Queens. Handball courts are well maintained as well.

So I'm starting out by praising the park as a concert venue to make up for my gripes about Central Park and PNC Bank Arts Center. I enjoyed the free De La Soul show here, which had good sound quality and a pleasant setup where you could opt for a close-up viewing of Eye Know and Me Myself and I or just roam around and still hear it. I wish I remembered who had the Yelp reviews that mostly focused on bathrooms, but park regulars know about the bathroom sort of near the LIRR train. It's not as glamorous or as clean as Bryant Park but it's mostly ok and open later than one might expect. The park isn't offering a wilderness facsimile like parts of Prospect Park but you can see birds and there are nice plants. The Unisphere is legendary.

It kills me how peaceful it can get right under all that heavy machinery. If you have to be around people in Queens, this is probably one of the least depressing places to do it. It really is.

I love nature and appreciate green spaces, so parks like this usually hold a special place. I hope they continue to maintain the park and I hope many more people will cherish its presence.
