You'll be surprised till you see the water view coming from the hill. It has good views of Whitestone bridge, Manhattan skyline and La Guardia airport. Definite worth coming. Staying in for serene spots are worthwhile. Will definitely coming back on sunset or even sunrise with hubby. He will enjoy the place for any photo shoot purpose. Not far from where I live. One of my favorite summer spot starting today.

Honestly, unless they live here, I don't know of any people going to College Point unless it is to the big box stores on 20th Ave. I get it, you either need to bus it or drive here since there is no train/subway access. The streets are narrow and the buses are wide making it even more intimidating to venture north in Queens, which is a shame because this area is lovely with its waterfront park. The view has "the city" off into the distance, Rikers island and LaGuardia airport with its low flying planes a bit closer and you may be able to steal a glimpse of the Whitestone bridge, but nearby Powell Cove's park may be better spot for that. The park was under construction in some parts so sections were closed off, but there are nice grassy areas. Benches line the waterfront and walkways that trace it making for a nice spot to chat with a friend providing they aren't suffering from springtime allergies that is - lots of pent up pollen in them trees! A couple of pro-tips: parking is street nearby and probably not the best smelling waterfront at low tide.

And the trails were lined with beautiful tall trees providing gorgeous shade. For parking, there's a huge lot behind the carousel on the other side of Woodhaven Boulevard, and it's a quick, easy walk to the park entrance down a gentle slope. The trails are not wheelchair accessible but Forest Park Drive is. I'm grateful for the maintenance of this green space.

There are no sharp inclines or steep, rocky hills. I like to walk these trails to admire nature and all it's worth. The lake that I came across while walking today made me want to jump in and swim(not sure if that's allowed). Aside from the trails, there are other little playgrounds in the area that might appeal to children.

Thumbs up to their Environmental Center which is very helpful in providing educational programs. I like the availability of car parking and multiple entrances, though some trails are better than others. The best part that I enjoy in this park is it marks the start/end of the Vanderbilt Motor Parkway trail path, it is historic, a scenic trail for walking, running, and biking, a beautiful, green space that offers a break from the city, and the paved path connects it to other parks. The trail path extends about 3 miles which makes it a 6 miles trekking distance out and back. In most weekend mornings, there is a great chance that you might see me walking/biking on this trail, so, see you there.

The NYC parks dept gets high marks for keeping the park clean and updated as nothing looks rundown or missing . After doing a bunch of shopping in the area I stopped by for an hour to enjoy my gelato cup while an intense basketball game was going on with guys and gals shooting many bricks . The stroller moms were out in force at the park while the little brats were running around the playground area having fun . I like this park in Astoria as it's my chill out and relax place when I need some alone time during the day . 4.5 stars on my yelp meter .

The park is dominated by several basketball courts, ones of which look to be converted from old tennis courts. On the far end there is handball and mini games of soccer between groups of children. Then on the other side is a literal playground for kids and tots who are still learning how to play with other kids or even perhaps walk. It's a nice spot to sit down and people watch. Youth is a wonderful thing and its nice to see the youth of Queens enjoying themselves in the summer heat.

The road to get here is narrow but conveniently right next to the playground. There are a few picnic tables and often lots of grilling by families. The playground is next to the lake. And the lake has alot of ducks and turtles. We had fun feeding them with some bread we brought with us. Most of the playground area is padded which is nice. There are separate areas for swings, a small area for the sprinklers during hot days and plenty of benches to sit. Next to the playground is more flat, green areas. Perfect for picnics and hanging out.

Sometimes they have little events here sometimes. They have sprinklers for the kkiddies as well. I wish there was a section for dogs here. They actually close the park at night time or else the bums would sleep here, personally I don't mind. Used to collect bottle caps and play checkers on the chess tables. Wish there was a bathroom in this park, that's the only down fall. This place is a hidden gem because its in between the streets. Used to call the park 5th street park, did not even realize the name of this place was Andrew's Grove.

Not by pretty fences, there are few pretty fences but by the construction KEEP OUT kind. The tall stone seating area with the little hiding spots were cool as a kid playing ringalevio. I also torched some thrown away Christmas trees there too. Probably not a good idea but I was a troubled youth and butane was super cheap. When the fences came down, a new more modern park appeared, it was wide open and there were new benches and a water fountain. The elderly but spunky old gentleman that lived in the big house across the street, just northwest used to drag his garden hose across the street a few times a week, his name was Ian. I didn't know that, I just knew him as the man with the hose that was on a mission. A mission of beautification and conservation and today his hard work is memorialized by the renaming and a sign that bears his name too.
