I absolutely love seeing that. The park has plenty of green space, walking paths, a great playground for kids, benches, and areas where you can just sit and relax. One of my favorite things is simply watching the community enjoy the space. It's such a beautiful reminder of how multicultural Queens really is. The signs say "shower before getting into the pool," yet I was yelled at to shower just for walking to a lounge chair with my towel. If you have to shower the moment you step onto the deck, change the signs to reflect that. ​Dealing with the public is hard, but the staff here are completely miserable and looking for a fight. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.

(With music) I'd have to say the park starts getting busy around the Afternoon depends on the weather. Around night time it's a nice peaceful run(don't walk slow and take your precious time) I couldn't really say if it's dangerous to be honest because whenever I run at night time nothing really happens. But I always look around and behind me just for safety.

Cons: There is no official parking lot. There are about 12 spots on the side near 147th St. and street parking on Brookville. The park much like most of the adjacent areas can present some safety issue. It's not well lit at dusk and there are some secluded areas. While I've never had any unpleasant encounters. I remain vigilant at all times. Err on the side of caution always. I keep my AirPods on transparent so that while I'm listening to music, I am aware at all times and I keep a pepper spray ( I know it's illegal ) on me whenever I'm there. I'd rather get a ticket for having the spray than be vulnerable. I also circle back to my car in between miles. Most importantly, I use the park during popular hours to make sure there are plenty people around.

The park stretches for almost 3 miles from Main St to Frances Lewis Blvd with its widest part between its namesake Kissena Blvd and 164th St to its narrowest part at Utopia Pkwy. Most of the park is accessible, but there are some wild parts with dense foliage, fallen trees and marshland, better suited for wildlife. The park also encompasses the Kissena Park Golf Course, which is fenced off. If you want to hike the entire length of the park, you can hike along the northern perimeter of the golf course. The golf course is public with greens fees around $30. You'll see golfers there in all types of weather except when it's snow covered. The course entrance is on Booth Memorial, east of 164th St. There are many playgrounds sprinkled along the whole stretch with jungle gyms, monkey bars & slides, along with tennis, basketball & handball courts and softball, baseball & cricket fields. You can generally play sports in the fields if nobody is there, but if you're an organized team, it's best to get a scheduled permit from NYC Parks & Recreation. Also hidden inside the park are many memorials along paved and unpaved walking trails and a surprise velodrome and a lake with plenty of waterfowl.

All to build and preserve a wack tee ball field for little kids that a year and a half later -- the munchkins have yet to materialize. But the slow arm of the parks department finally began construction on a cleverly designed new dog park, albeit too small being thin in width and short in length. The project looks to be about single digit completed after almost two years which burns my butt a bit, as private industry would have wrapped this up in weeks but as with much of my life -- a grin and bare (bear) it, smile and wave approach and reluctantly accepting this tired, old and dirty cities inability to do anything on time and on budget.

A bit noisy and since its neighboring JFK airport there's the added airplane noises. Kids don't seem to mind or care for that matter. Lots of benches around and some tables with chairs. Basketball court and handball courts are at one end. Major downside here however is that there's no bathroom. The location serves as more like a backyard playground to many of the homes that are across the street . Still not a good excuse to not have a bathroom. There's no direct parking spots right outside the park either. Its the kind of location that you would probably drive by and then wonder how to get into the park but by that time you've already passed it. So the tip is to drive down Lefferts Blvd a block or 2 and find parking on one of the side streets to the left or right . Then walk back to the park. (Be careful crossing- it's the Conduit after all,but there is a crosswalk) If you're ever flight delayed this is a good park to come with little ones to kill time and burn off some energy. Its a quick walk over from the Long Term Parking area at JFK. You'll see lots of airline workers who live close by walking to work.
