I was interested in a Hunter Douglas shade for our bathroom. My husband just had shoulder surgery and I was having difficulty getting down to the store. Matthew the owner, kindly dropped off the Hunter Douglas sample book to our home and allowed me to keep the book for several days so that I could see the color I chose at different times of the day. Knowing Hunter Douglas is a bit pricey, he also brought another brands sample book that comparable to Hunter Douglas which we were very appreciative of since we just finished a huge remodel. Our shade came in exactly four weeks as promised. The installer was professional and cleaned up after himself. I would highly recommend this company! We had some damage on 30 year old wood floors that we needed to replace with the same exact wood. Because of its age, the fact that it would need to be imported from Denmark, and the Pandemic, we were having trouble finding somebody who could address our needs. Thank goodness we went into Walsh Flooring in Laguna Beach and met Matthew Choi! From the moment I met him, he was able to suggest solutions that would solve my flooring issue. He was able to order the right wood in a timely manner and walked me through the whole process. He is very knowledgeable and capable and I am thrilled with the repair, staining, and the new wood that was added to the old wood matches perfectly and looks like it has always been there. So we had some flooring installed and the worker who did it did a great job and the floor looks great. However here is where the 1 star comes into play. Russell was told that we only do net 30 and he was ok with that. We knew his price was extremely high but we needed it done and he was able to accommodate. On day 29 we received a voicemail that was extremely rude and very obnoxious with demands of payment by the following day. When we tried to call him back both on his cell and the store line he would not pick up. Very unprofessional! Not to mention the check cleared and posted the following day so he must have got his check before making the rude call. I'm all for going local but this is a local I'd suggest avoiding. read more

I recently took a 6' by 8' carpet in to be cleaned. The cost for cleaning was $190.00. When I took the carpet home and unrolled it, not only were the stained spots still visible but it was very discolored with yellowish stains over large areas that were not present before. I called Russell and took the rug back in to be redone. When it came back the second time, it was even more discolored by whatever cleaning solution they used. I complained to Russell that they ruined our carpet, as it looked much worse than before I had it cleaned the first time. He did not offer to refund the $190 cleaning cost or compensation for a destroyed carpet. He said he had used the same cleaning service for 40 years. If so they must have some new people who do not know what they are doing. My advice; avoid this place at all costs, and do not trust them with any of your carpets. Mike K., Laguna Beach. read more

Wanting to use a local company I went to Walsh and worked with the owner Russell through the process. chose a nice wool carpet I had seen at a neighbors place, they told me they had used a heavy pad which I specified. Had carpet installed, came home to the wrong pad, I had told him to put heavy duty pad as the carpet is low pile wool. He ignored me and never followed up, later I went into the store to remind him of my concern, he said "I don't even know who you are" I walked out, had his trash torn out and had a pro do the job. Waste of a few thousand dollars not to mention time spent... Only bright spot was the installer, very nice and did a good job with what he was given. read more

I just finished a full remodel of a 30 year old home in Laguna and Russel and his team did an excellent job refinishing all of the wood floors and installing carpet on the stairs, in the hallway and both bedrooms. Daniel, the flooring installer is a true craftsman. He made old white oak floors like new again by sanding and finishing as well as fixing bad boards and installing matching flooring where there wasn't any. Carlos, the carpet installer went above and beyond to make a patterned product match perfectly. Where most installers would simply seam at each doorway, Carlos cut outside on the driveway ensuring that the seams would not show in the finished rooms. I wish I would of read the more recent reviews before I had tried using Walsh. My husband and I do remodels and long term rentals and are constantly in construction and know the business very well. We live in Laguna and we're doing a local project so I thought it would be nice to try and support a local business. I wish I had not. I went in about 30 days ago and asked for a price on a bamboo floor. Russell said he would have to get back to me on the price. A few days later I went in and he quoted me a price. One price for natural wood and one price for engineered. The price was reasonable. I also had him quote a price on a wood I had used with my contractor previously and told him I could get it for $5 a sf. He said that was impossible. Ok, that's fine. I'll just keep buying that product from my contractor. No big deal. Today, he was suppose to order my floor. He calls me and tells me the price he had quoted me was wrong and that he never quoted me that price. I honestly think he may be going senile. He is an older gentleman and I think he is either a crook and dishonest, or senile. Neither one is good for business. If you do decide to still try this establishment, get your quote or pricing in writing before they waist your time. read more

While the products are good, if top dollar, i find the business practices questionable. The proprietor can't read a floor plan, so he has to come to the house to generate an estimate. All fine. However, when he does that, he feels that his time should guarantee him the job. If he doesn't get the job, he refuses to deal with the customer. He did this to me twice. The first time i swore i'd never deal or speak with him again, but someone talked me out of it. We gave him some pricey business and a very good recommendation in between, and then when he priced another job for us and estimated the carpet required at double what was needed, he refused to deal with us if we didn't pay the higher amount. I so wish i could take back my recommendation from this person who honestly has no concept of sales practice or customer service. read more
