We added on a 200 sq foot master closet room and originally went to G & A to look at carpeting for the new closet. Not only did Brandon spend a lot of time with us on the carpet (which was a small job), he inquired if there was anything else they could assist with. We quickly learned that G & A does not just specialize in flooring, they provide a wide variety of services. In addition to carpeting, we needed painting, stone for countertops and expanded our project to replacing the tile in our laundry room (a long want on my wish list). I got 5 bids for painting and when combining all the above services, Brandon came in with the most competitive pricing. We went with G & A and are so happy that we did. I never felt like he was trying to upsell us and we felt their prices were very fair. In fact, Brandon offered us options with the stone that were more economical than other brands. Brandon was with us every step of the way! When the tile I picked out for the laundry room was discontinued, he found one very similar which I ended up liking better anyways. When they started the laundry room project, while removing the old baseboards, there was an issue with some of the drywall. Brandon quickly stepped in and had one of his guys perform drywall repair right away so as to not stall the project. They removed and reinstalled the washer/dryer as well. They also updated the 20 year old baseboards to match the rest of the house. All of G & A's laborers that worked in our home were courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. Brandon kept us advised every step of the way. I STRONGLY recommend G & A for any home improvement needs you may have and don't forget, they do way more than flooring! I am attaching some photos of the closet where they laid carpeting and installed quartz, the tile & painting in the laundry room and the painting of the living room/foyer where the new closet was built above.

I was shown around by a very nice man (Cesar) and found the perfect tile for our shower. He let me borrow the sample for the weekend which was incredibly helpful. I showed the sample to my wife and she loved it as well. On Monday I went in and purchased the amount of tile my installer recommended. On my excitement of buying I did not read and was not told that all sales are final. After finishing up our shower which by the way came out perfect, I called and asked if I could return one full box for a refund. No was the answer and I was out $75.00 and have a box and half of tiles that will never be used. My suggestion is be very certain of measurements because once you sign the invoice you have cross the road of literally no return. My shower looks fantastic I could not picked a better tile and my installer (FRG Tile Installation) did an excellent job, just be wary of the no return policy so your not overpaying with no option of a refund.

Quite the opposite...from the very beginning it felt like Jerry had our best interest at heart, which showed not just in the quality of the end result, but in the extra steps he took to make our new floors affordable for us. At a…read moredifferent store, I found exactly the high-end carpet I wanted and was quoted a doable price at that store. Then after they came out and measured, it almost doubled in price. When I remarked on it, suddenly they were able to reduce the price by $1,500. That was still almost 1,500 more than what they quoted me in the store. So I said thanks but no thanks and went looking elsewhere. The first thing I saw when I walked into Sterling carpet was that exact same brand. The quote I got at the store was roughly the same as the quote given to me by the first store, but after they came out and measured it was actually the price I got! So I paid about half what the first store tried to wrangle out of me. The installers took their time and did a stellar job. Not a nick or a flaw or any noticeable imperfection. This carpet will last a lifetime and beyond cuz I'm kind of old now. If I ever need carpet again I will only have to stop by one place.

The difference between Andres's quote with any of the other offers stood out like night and day. First and most importantly, Andres came out and spent over two hours looking at the work to be done, talking with us, and explaining all the possible issues that could come up. He was completely transparent, eager to answer every question we had with clarity and sincerity. Other contractors came out and did a rush job of measuring, threw out some figures and some with more extensive quotes than others, and there was always the possibility of a change order that could substantially increase the price. None of them clearly explained what needed to be done or what might be needed to be done, and none of them used their own staff-everything was hired out to one of their install teams. What made Andres's offer stand out way over any other was that he clearly explained everything that had to be done, or might have to be done, since doing wood flooring can open a number of issues that can crop up along the way. His quote, while slightly above our other offers, was the only all inclusive quote that would not include any change orders-every possible issue was included and he was willing to stick to his quote even if the job had issues along the way. This was especially true for our stairs. Andres also has his own crew and he is on site at the job, not spread thin doing multiple jobs at once. This means he will finish your job on time, and not stretch it out due to another job somewhere else. We were so comfortable with Andres after two visits, we decided to allow him to do the work while we were out of town. If any issues came up, he said he'd call or Facetime or send photos to discuss and explain. We were gone a week and one minor issue came up with the stair installation, which we resolved easily by phone and text. The crew left our home immaculate and clean, as if nobody had been there. They even moved a piano for us without any extra charge. Our neighbors remarked how immaculate and clean they were and covered all our furniture to prevent any work dust from covering things. The work and craftsmanship show in every way, and it's obvious Andres takes great pride in his work. We are extremely pleased with our flooring, and will be eager to hire Andres for other remodel projects.

Total Nightmare DMF poured concrete into our main drain. Lazy install as they did not plug the toilet drains. DMF has refused to accept responsibility for their errors. Their insurer has accepted responsibility for the negligent acts and tear out and repair will be paid for. However, their policy does not cover the installation of the damaged product despite their claim for an installation guarantee. The matter has been referred to our legal counsel as we want the return of our full $11,000. My elderly disabled mother and her companion dog have now been in a hotel since 12/17 while owner and his son - RJ Osborne Senior and Junior and their crack team seem blissfully unaware of the damage they have done to our home. Complaints have been filed with CSLB, Bond Holder and BBB. Avoid vendor at all costs if you value your home The cost of repairs is going to dwarf the original job. We do not think that they should keep the money from a job horrifically done. We will likely not get home until 1/20 time frame and then to no floor in the bedroom, hall and bathrooms all because of the negligent behavior of this vendor. Based on our most recent interaction with RJ Osborne Senior we are bums for complaining - he insists we were the first even though we were told by his agent that there are prior claims against the general liability policy. He even said he does not give a **** if my elderly mother fell again and told us we needed to look at his Mercedes to see how successful he was. Really? *** UPDATED INFORMATION *** Made claim on DMF's bond with Tokio Marine. DMF failed to provide any response to the claim. Insurer paid out requested amount of claim & now DMF has their license suspended with CSLB so be careful. They should not be doing any work without an active license. A check of their license at the CSLB website reveals the following: License is under suspension for the following reasons: License is under Contractors Bond Suspension. A contractor's bond may have been received by the Board but not yet processed. Once the bond is processed the suspension will be lifted retroactively to the effective date of the bond. Ask the contractor for proof of a contractor's bond and contact the bonding company to verify bond status. *** UPDATED INFORMATION *** This whole thing has been a nightmare. If you go with this vendor make sure you check the work, double check the work and then do a whole lot of praying to make sure you get what you paid for. read more

My wife and I went to Designer's Magic, (next to Trader Joe's in San Clemente) to have tile installed in our two upstairs bathrooms and carpet installed in 3 bedrooms and hallways. We also wanted our old worn carpeted stairs replaced with wood, We had shopped other retailers and gathered prices, etc. and found that Designer's Magic was extremely competitive and Richard, the owner, was not only knowledgeable, but very friendly. It is evident that he recognizes how important Customer service is to his business. The installers for the tile arrived on time and did a wonderful job. They were very pleasant and worked extremely hard to make sure that we liked the finished product. Richard communicated with us during the install just to see if everything was going OK. As planned, the following day, other workmen arrived, on time, to install our wooden stairs. Once again, this group of installers were remarkable. They worked so hard and really paid attention to details, making sure everything was perfect. WOW!, what a difference the wooden stairs made to our house. They did a magnificent job! After the stairs were completed, the carpeting was installed. Same story, showed up on time, terrific workmen, beautful job! We were so pleased with Richard's service and quality of work that, several weeks after the completion of those jobs, we had new draperies installed in our living room by Designer's Magic. Richard had a representative come out to our house, with samples and suggestions. We made our fabric decision, he took measurements, and set a date to install our new window draperies. The draperies were installed on the date promised and, once again, the job turned out beautifully! My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful service we received at Designer's Magic. As most homeowner's know, it's not easy to find this kind of committment to quality and friendly Customer service. In addition to my original review my wife went back to get our flooring sample prior to me posting anything on YELP. I posted my review as she was going back to get the sample. The owner proceeded to call my wife a "CALL GIRL". When my wife calmly asked him why he was so mad she was just trying to do business with him he told her that god would come down on her. I am guessing he is anti semtic because I honestly can't think of any other reason we would be treated so badly. Please keep in mind we arrived at the store due to a recommendation. This place is downright scary! We just wanted to do business with them, we thought we were and my wife was subsequently called a "Call Girl". These are awful, scary, disgusting people. Don't want to provide too many details because these people know where we live. However, they have absolutely THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS I have ever encountered since starting my remodel. That's saying a lot! Also, the installers who replaced my flooring were sloppy and left unnecessary seams in the middle of every doorway and room. Because these rooms are small and they were merely replacing what was previously there, I know these seams could have been avoided! DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR AND AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. Designer's Magic recently completed the laminate flooring and porcelain tile throughout my condo in San Clemente. The condo was completely renovated from top to bottom. I couldn't be more pleased with the results and the service. Over the period of a year, I was helped by Steven, Kevin, R.J, Keith, and Richard. Three are family members and the other two associates are friends. Their subcontractors who did the actual work couldn't have been more professional and efficient. After shopping around at other flooring stores, I visited Designer's Magic in San Clemente. The other stores I had looked at did not have the original and unique selection that I found here. The welcome and service we received when we were in the store was immediate. The price was very competitive and so I picked out a laminate and a carpet to have installed. Do not buy from Richard. I bought a $700 rug from Designers Magic. It was late, a few inches short, and also crooked by almost 2". Richard came to my house to measure for himself. He kept us waiting for 2 days, showed up and measured only one side. How can you tell from one measurement Richard? AKA "Dick". He got angry for wasting his time and raised his voice to my wife in our house. Scared my wife and kids. He never fixed the problem and I had to pay another company to straighten it. We got ripped. Great quality and great services! Price is much more competitive compared with Home Dept and Lowe's. We were looking for a small area of floor to match a big area. They were really helpful and lent us a couple of samples to bring home and compare. We chose to replace everything with Provenza MaxCore™ Moda Living Waterproof Luxury Vinyl Plank, and also decided to update our stair handrails, balusters, and posts. Ali was incredibly knowledgeable and consistently attentive to our needs and expectations. We had some leveling done and stairs redone. What I didnt love is that the last day the two guys who started the job didn't finish (a third new guy finished) and although he did a decent job finishing the stairs, a few stairs creak and the walls were left with much larger holes to be repaired. That's another annoyance albeit it may be normal regardless of who you get your floors done with - they left the stair walls with holes and needing repair and painting. So we have yet to complete the job in that regard. They did disclose that would be the case but after you drop thousands of dollars it would be nice to feel like a complete job was performed.

This was a small, straightforward job, but the visit took far longer than necessary and felt driven by sales process rather than efficiency. Instead of focusing on measuring the room and preparing a quote, the salesperson spent a significant amount of time talking and redirecting the conversation. After repeatedly asking for pricing, I was eventually shown a single total on his tablet. When I asked for a printed quote or an emailed copy, the salesperson said their system does not generate written quotes at all. He explained that even if he had internet access, quotes could only be presented in person and must be signed immediately. He also stated that if I did not accept the quote on the spot, it would no longer be valid and the only way to move forward would be for him to return to my home and repeat the entire process. The quote shown had no itemization or breakdown. There was limited detail on carpet type, padding, labor, or related items, and no documentation I could review, compare, or keep. The expectation was to agree to a single number immediately, without time to evaluate options or pricing. Given the lack of transparency and the pressure to make an on-the-spot decision, I politely ended the appointment. Tompkins Flooring = Efficient, Transparent, and Straightforward After that experience, I stopped in at Tompkins Flooring and worked with Chris. The difference was immediate. For the same simple job, the entire process took about five minutes. Chris was easy to work with, asked the right questions, and provided a clear quote without needing to come into my home. The quote included details on carpet, padding, and installation, and was provided in written form for review. Pricing from Tompkins was slightly lower than Empire Today, but the product was better. Both the carpet and padding options were higher quality, and the installation schedule was more flexible. There was no pressure to commit immediately, just clear information that made it easy to decide. The installation is scheduled for next week, and based on how smooth and professional the process has been so far, I'm guessing it will go smoothly. I'll update this review (if needed) after the work is completed. Overall, the contrast between the two companies was clear. One relied on urgency and limited information, while the other focused on transparency, efficiency, and respecting the customer's time.

Scheduling was quick and even though I had to reschedule twice, they were very accommodating. Our house is not huge but we do have 3 bedrooms and stairs. I was told that it would take 2-3 days but it actually took a day and a half! They also did a nice job of disassembling and reassembling our bed frames, etc. I would highly recommend them!

We met with probably seven different companies before we found David on Thumbtack. Most people tried to talk us out of hardwood. A few would only install wood we purchased from them. Our consultation with David was a breath of fresh air. He really listened to what we wanted, gave us great advice, kept great communication throughout the installation process, and the finished result looks absolutely amazing. He did an incredible job on everything, including the stairs. If you're looking to redo your floors, go with New Life Flooring.

We came across a lovely owner named Mark who came by our house to measure and get quotes on what we wanted. It has been 2 years since our kitchen Reno and I'm so glad we waited for this gorgeous backsplash that reminds me of Wickeds "emerald city". They were shipped from New York so we waited about less than a week for the project to get started. Mark's son, Mark Jr. is who so meticulously created what I say an artistic masterpiece. If you zoom in there were such small, I mean small.. intricate tile pieces that he poured his sweat for days making sure that it was nothing less than perfection. We are so thankful that he treated our home like it was his own. Both Marks were so lovely to work with and we can't wait to work on our bathrooms next in the near future. Thank you just doesn't suffice the beautiful creation they made in our kitchen. They are honest, so communicative and responsible. On the last day Mark brought an electrician to make sure all outlets worked well and that the clean up was left as if nobody was even there. I mean how is that possible?! We've had horrible experiences in the past but look no further as this local shop has completely blown us away. Thank you for all you do!!! What a pleasure working with this shop
