I have been to many offices and Dr. Tassinari is my favorite. My youngest daughter went to him for vision therapy which turned out really well. I had an emergency one morning because I splashed comet from the sink in my eye and they saw me immediately! I was so grateful. I really like his no-nonsense, don't-charge-you-for- every-little-thing attitude. We've been there now for about 4-5 years and will stay. Basing my vision insurance choice on him. read more

My ratings unfortunately went from 5 stars down to 2 down to 1 now. I was a patient for over 20 years and would recommend them to everyone I knew but not anymore. When this was Dr. Tassinari's sole practice it was AMAZING! He sold it in the last couple of years and is now just a part time staff member. Dr. Yeh bought the practice and client list and everything that went along with that like this Yelp page but this really is a NEW and separate business riding the coat tails of what Dr. T built. You can read my prior reviews for additional information. My last, and FINAL, interaction was 2 weeks ago. I went in for my appointment with Dr. T ( I refused to see Dr. Yeh after my experience last year and since Dr. T is still on staff I decided to stay with this business since he was so amazing at what he does. My exam with him was excellent (as always) but dealing with the staff is painful and impossible at EVERY level. Making the appointment with Dr. T was painful (it should be very cut and dry!) (Here is an example of that conversation: Me: I would like an appointment with Dr. T and only Dr. T not Dr. Yeh, Staff: he only works Mondays, Me: that's fine, what's his earliest availability?, staff: how about Tuesday..... Me: Um i thought you just informed me that he only works Mondays, Staff: yes but you can come in earlier, Me: I don't want to come in earlier I want to see Dr. T and I already made that extremely clear to you Then at the appointment: the staff was so confused as to the tests they were supposed to do on me (um ask the Dr. or look at the chart!) and some staff would then try to repeat tests that had already been done on me by another staff member. also, this was hilarious: half way through the eye exam with Dr. T he asked a staff member to take me in another room and do some more test on me and then bring me back in. Keep in mind I didn't have contacts in nor was I wearing glasses. Once she was done with those tests she took me around to the check out area and walked away without even saying a word. I was standing there like an idiot for a few minutes and then when I saw her I said "um, aren't I supposed to go back to see Dr. T?"... she had this oh crap look and immediately took me back to his office and as soon as we walked in he asked where we had been. Dr. T had directed her to bring me back to his office so I guess listening skills aren't her thing but also no common sense. She knew I didn't have my contacts or glasses on so I was totally BLIND. Why would you send someone to check out when they can't see? At least have them put their contacts/glasses back on! At checkout, the gal didn't even know what she should be charging me so charged me less and said if I needed to pay more later they would send me another bill (how do you not know what the prices/fees are in an office for services rendered?, and then the final straw was when I was sent home with trials for a new contact I didn't like them so wanted to stick with my old style of contacts and the staff were a mess. They wouldn't even pull the chart to look at the information to discuss. I don't have enough room to type it all out but it was 2 days of multiple discussions that were just insane and then they wanted me to come back for ANOTHER office visit that I was 90% sure wasn't necessary and demanded to have Dr. T call me back personally and on the phone with him he confirmed that it was not needed for me to come back in. They could just send me my new finalized prescription using the type of contacts I have used for the last 3 years. I have worked with 3 different staff members here and I have not had even 1 smooth interaction. In this type of business, the situations are all similar and you probably only have a handful of scenarios so it's not hard to determine how to handle each situation. The staff clearly needs more training but this new staff has been there for at least a year so I think the issues stem well beyond training. I have since received a referral and will be going elsewhere. I really don't recommend this practice anymore unless you have the time and patience to heard cats. read more

I love this little neighborhood eye exam spot. There's free parking right out front, appointments are easy and I've never waited a long time. The doctors (Dr Cao and Dr Yeh) are thorough and do a good job without trying to sell you on anything. The staff is friendly and helpful and let me try on every frame to find the one I liked best. read more

Dr. Tassinari is the best you can get. He knows his stuff (he teaches at USC in addition to his practice) and he has a great staff. It doesn't take long before they get to know you by name. I've found his glasses/lenses prices are not out of line but, in fact, are rather reasonable. My entire family has their eyes cared for by Dr. JT - who is a caring, compassionate, and talented doctor. If you need an eye doctor - he's the one who will take care of you with care and professionalism. Plus, he's just a really nice guy! read more

It has been a few years since I've had a check up and was using off the shelf reading glasses. The staff and Dr. Yeh are friendly and professional. I received the best set of computer and reading glasses. They are very comfortable. I feel so much more efficient working on the computer. I appreciate the great service. read more

Dr Tassinari is a fine optometrist. However, I made the mistake of having my glasses made up at his office and they are unuseable after less than a year. The glass lenses are very badly scratched from normal, careful cleaning. My last pair of glasses lasted for six years and the glass lenses still have virtually no scratches, made at Specstacular. I only had to get them redone because the frames were deteriorating. My prescription doesn't change. Whoever adds the coatings does a terrible job and, at over $400 for lenses, I can't believe this office uses a fabricator this bad. read more

I am extremely disappointed in this office. Very unprofessional and disorganized staff. Ive spoken to every staff member there (Corey, Shellie, Kathy, Pegg and I can't remember the lady at the front desk's name) and neither of them were able to help me nor give me the time of day. I sent them the following letter an I still have not heard back; I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I received during multiple visits to your office since this February, when I ordered new glasses and contact lenses. On February 11, I had an eye exam in your office and then ordered new glasses and contact lenses. I am currently covered under two insurance plans, my father's and my own. Your staff member told me I could order two pairs of glasses as well as contact lenses and they would all be covered by my insurance. I decided to order computer glasses, which you recommended during my exam, as well as glasses with my everyday prescription, plus a year's supply of contact lenses. I was told the glasses would arrive within two weeks and that the total bill would be $557. I paid half of that bill, or $279, on that date. When I went back to your office pick up my glasses two weeks later, neither of my glasses had arrived. On March 8, a month after I ordered my glasses, your staff called me to tell me the glasses and contacts had finally arrived. When I arrived to pick them up, I was told that only six of my eight boxes of contacts and only one of the two pairs of glasses had arrived. Your staff did not know why only a partial order of contact lenses had arrived. Your staff then told me that my total bill was over $700, not the $557 I was quoted on February 11. After my insistence, your staff finally realized that in fact they were overcharging because both of my pairs of glasses were covered by my insurance. However, I was then told that my total was $627, still not the $557 I was originally quoted. After further confusion while your staff tried to make sense of this discrepancy, I was informed that I had initially been quoted a price for non-astigmatism contact lenses. I was told the charge was now higher because I need astigmatism lenses. Your staff did not offer to honor the original price I was quoted, even though this was their mistake. Today, I went back to pick up my second pair of glasses, which only arrived this week, six weeks after I ordered them and four weeks after I was told they would be ready. They were delayed twice because the lenses repeatedly failed final inspection. When I came to pick up the glasses today, I found that they did not have bifocals. I have always had bifocals and you did not tell me during our appointment that I would no longer need them. When I asked about this, your staff member told me I can get bifocals but I do not need them. I asked to speak to you personally so you could explain my prescription to me. I wanted to fully understand my prescription and make an educated decision about the best choice for my eyes. I was informed that you were on a conference call, you were not scheduled to see patients today, and that did not have time to speak with me. Your staff member told me you would call me on Monday, delaying this process even further. It has already been a full six weeks since I ordered these glasses. I informed your staff that I was not happy with the multiple delays in ordering these glasses and I asked them to honor the original price of $557 that I was quoted on February 11. Your staff members did notoffer to honor the original price. Nor did they apologize for the multiple delays in getting my glasses to me, or suggest any other way to resolve the appalling service I have received to this point. read more

So yesterday I went to pick up my foster son's glasses and they told me that there was a charge (he's on Medi-cal). When I asked what the charge was for, they told me that since they had to replace the glasses, they had to charge me, especially b/c Dr. Yeh doesn't accept Medical patients. Apparently Yeh bought the practice from Tassinari, who originally accepted Medical patients. When I asked why that wasn't communicated to me when I dropped the glasses off, they didn't have an answer for me, other than the fact that that person is no longer working for the office. When I told them I don't think this was my fault, they said they would speak to Dr. Yeh to see if would be willing to waive the cost. When the office staff came back, she said Dr. Yeh was unwilling to eat the costs for the glasses, and apologized that I wasn't told at the time that I dropped off the glasses, that I would be charged for them. So for $20, Dr. Yeh was willing to undergo a bad review. Is it really all about the money, Dr. Yeh? Sad. The office staff was nice, and tried to be helpful, but Dr. Yeh was clearly uncooperative. Will be taking my business elsewhere. You realize the glasses were for a foster child, right? read more

Extremely disappointed with his care for my child. Dr. Tassinari specializes in child pediatrics right? right, so you would think his care would be appropriate with little people otherwise known as his patients. My four year old was being examined by Dr. Tassinari, the doctor elevated the chair and pushed the footrest up because it would "bump" his knee while he was working. The doctor handed my son back his glasses and told him to put them back on, my four year old understood this to mean he could go home, at that point my son was trying to feel for the footrest that wasn't properly positioned so rather then stepping down from it he ended up falling forward and hit his face against the Doctors desk. The doctor was closest to my son, he never gave any instructions such as "we're not done yet so stay in your chair" or "let me help you down" he simply let my son fall down and hit his face and the doctor just walked right on out the door as if nothing happened meanwhile my son was bleeding from his busted lip and crying. I was furthest from my son and was not able to catch him, neither did the doctor however even attempt to grab my son from falling and hurting himself severely (even though he knew that that footrest was up posing a hazard already). I immediately went to my son and helped him the best that I could and five minutes later an assistant walked in to offer a cold can of apple juice perhaps to alleviate my sons lip. I was so shocked at the lack of concern and just the lack of care that Dr. Tassinari did not show to my son HIS PATIENT that I could only ask to pay and leave. It was at the front desk that I explained to the staff what just happened that the doctor finally walked out to "check" what happened, I told him "You didn't even ask if he was okay you just walked away, you didn't even come back in to check on how he was doing" the doctor replied "well I thought you would be the best to nurture him since you are his mother". Bottom line is I would not recommend Dr. Tassinari to any parent to take their child, if he was a doctor for adults then that would be better since he is very smart, but when it comes to his ethics and care he fails. Later when we got home my son was still in discomfort that is when I noticed that his two little front teeth were loose and the next day he had light bruising on the bridge of his nose. The doctor tried to write in my sons records that he warned my son to "not" touch his tools, (referring to the footrest) and that "he sent" his assistant to see if everything was okay. Big disappointment all I wanted was to get the best help for my son. read more

I was a new patient here that went in a couple of months back ago and was going in for an eye exam. When I was called back the assistant had me run some eye exam test. When it came to the picture she was having trouble with the computer and called in for some help. The young lady Grecia, ( I believe her name was) was extremely rude to the assistant that it even made me fell uncomfortable. She didn't even acknowledge that I was there nor did she seem to even care. When I was done I went back to the front and was told by Grecia that I had to pay because my insurance didn't cover my exam. I wasn't to happy about paying and asked if there was something she can do to help me. She was rude, and even seemed annoyed by me asking this. I ended up talking to Cathy who gave me s discount for being a student and she was a lot of help. Over all that day was filled with awkwardness and disappointment. I will never go back there again. read more
