Our trip to the Walmart in Williston, VT was without a doubt the worst retail experience we have ever had in our 65 plus years on the planet. There are very few employees to be found. Moreover, if you aren't fluent in Spanish, forget about it. Never again. Never again. read more

Worst Walmart around and I'll tell you why. Bought a trash can yesterday. The trash can top was accidentally the wrong one. You'd think that would be an easy fix right? WRONG! Went back to Walmart to try and exchange for the right top for the one we had bought not even 24 hours after we went back. My significant other went to grab it while I waited in line. As soon as we got to the register, we explained that this is the wrong top for the trash can we had purchased. We had the receipt, the card it was purchased on, and the top(s) we wanted to exchange. The people at the service desk didn't even look at the receipt before telling us "do you have the trash can?" we reply "no why would we?". The service ladies then replied, "we need to scan the barcode on the trash can. we can't exchange it without it" we were shocked. I asked " why would you need to scan a barcode for the trash can, if the the top THAT CAME WITH IT was the wrong top in the first place?" The ladies didn't say a word. What if someone wanted to buy just a top and not the whole trash can? Why would you MAKE someone buy a whole trash can AGAIN because the top that CAME with it, was the wrong one in the first place? We ended up buying another trash can for no reason because apparently you can't buy the tops separately. Even though the top we got was the wrong one to begin with. Make this make sense because the math ain't mathing. read more

Workers accused me of "vandalism" and said they had footage of me breaking items in the store but refused to show me footage. They also followed me around the store my entire trip before said incident took place. There was also a boot filled with human piss. read more

I called to ask a question about an item, and if they still had it. One of the employees was being very rude on the phone. She put me on hold, and when she answered, she said, "Yeah, we don't have it" and then she just hung up. I've never had any good experiences with employees at Walmart. For some reason Walmart consists of employees that absolutely have no respect for customers. read more

Walmart misadvertised a sofa as a sleeper when it wasn't one. They then said 3 times over the phone that they'd offer a refund. It's now been over a month, we've provided photos and videos of the sofa, called tons of times, and we still haven't received a refund. This is unacceptably terrible - I won't be shopping there again! read more

Walmart in Williston and St Albans both say their paint mixing counters do not work. why do you still sell paint if you can't mix it. called the Williston store after the call button did not work just to be told they are short staffed. Spoke to a worker who could not help because he had to clean up a spill that was already cleaned up. very poor rating for both stores. read more

Sorry, nothing good I can say about this Walmart. The lines are always long, the staff is always rude, and the products I want are always out of stock. I guess that is were Walmart gets their ALWAYS moto. Each store is always consistent. Either always bad or always good. This store is the latter. I have been traveling to Burlington on business for the last 5 years and every time I put myself through the agony of shopping at this Walmart. Someone from Corporate should make a surprise visit to this store. It is a disgrace. Nothing is in any type of order, empty shelves and one person checking people out. If the motive behind this is to force people to use the self-check out, making people wait almost an hour on line is not the way to go about it. Discounting the total order might be a better way to go about it. I thought the Walmart in Rutland was bad, this one is ten times worse. Yes, it's Walmart. The carts are terrible, like every Walmart on the planet. It's not a classy, or even vaguely pleasant, shopping experience. But shampoo and deodorant are probably cheaper than anywhere else. Self checkout had no like at all. What bothered me was, as noted in a prior review, the aisles and large "racetrack" aisles were absolutely impassible. They were clogged with carts of cardboard and scrap boxes - not even merchandise. Regular aisles are narrow with barely room for 2 carts to pass. Tighter still in the health and beauty area. I'm surprised that corporate hasn't overhauled this store at least enough to allow shoppers to adequately move through the aisles. read more

This Walmart has really gone down the tubes in 2019! Just last year, the shelves were properly stocked, and at least there weren't pallets of stock waiting to be put on the shelf. From my understanding, Walmart has reduced their staff and is trying to make their everyday cashiers and workers to do the job of stocking shelves and they are FAILING MISERABLY. They don't have ANYTHING that I used to go to Walmart for on their shelves, and it's not because the items are discontinued, it's because those spots on the shelves are EMPTY. What a disgrace.. Corporate Walmart needs to wise up. It's the cheapest man who spends the most. You'll regret your cost-cutting measures, you're going to lose customers and go the way like Sears, etc. Keep it up and Buh Bye Walmart! I never thought I'd be reviewing a Walmart on Yelp but my experience here was so awful that I made the realization that not all Walmarts are created equal. I've only been to 4 or 5 Walmarts in my life and this has been the worst of them all. The only positive thing that I have to say about the evil conglomerate is that many of their locations have a very similar, consumer-friendly layout that allows the customer to find what they need easily. The Williston Walmart lacks this aspect and I can't remember the last time that a store has given me a headache of this magnitude; the aisles have no logical layout, are way too narrow for the amount of cart-traffic, and there are stacks of boxes inconveniently placed in the middle of the floor for shoppers to trip over. To top off my trip, I was given a torn plastic bag that allowed a jar of marinara sauce to slip through and shatter at my feet as I was putting my bags in the car. The only reasons that I would consider shopping at a Walmart are when there is no alternative and money is tight. Given the terrible layout of the store and lackluster selection of items, I would avoid this Walmart like the plague and gladly spend more money on items from a local store and save gas. read more

This is your run of the mill Walmart! Nothing super special but it gets the job done. Our Walmart is a pretty good size for what it is. For some odd reason they wouldn't let them make it into a Super Walmart. It would have included a fresh remodel and everything would have been brand new! Something it needs badly. The staff here is pretty helpful at times too if you need direction. Check out and Customer Service on the other hand is just chaotic! Getting in and out here is just not possible. So make sure you plan some extra time here. Other than that its just a Walmart. What remodeling they have done seems to have helped some. It can be confusing finding items sometimes but I just ask for help. Really wish they would get the checkout and customer service desk sorted out. More employees here to help the lines move a long would be great! read more

Sure, Walmart is good for the essentials and when money is tight - but if there was a Target in Williston, you'd better be sure that I would never step foot in Walmart ever again! Sure, they went through a remodel and the aisles are a little larger... but for whatever stupid reason, they just love to place displays in the middle of the aisles, thus making them small again! It seems whenever I am there, I am trying to run in, grab what I need and race out of there. This store seems to attract people that just stand in the middle of the busy aisles, twiddling their thumbs or arguing with whomever they are shopping with. It leaves me with a panicked feeling when I have to try to navigate around these oblivious customers... forget the common courtesy of moving your self and cart out of the way! And heaven forbid you ever have to STOP moving in this store... I had to make a return recently and spent 15 minutes waiting in a 5 person line at the customer service department. I instinctively started looking at the people around me... the larger women in belly shirts, the men with their plumber's cracks showing because their pants are too darn big, the young kids yacking loudly on their cell phones because they have them and want attention, the young women in pajama pants even though it's 6 pm. While standing there, you inevitably start to think... "Am I one of them? Do I "fit in" here? Are people looking at me and questioning me as well?" Oi. Come ON Target! This girl would much rather buy socks and essentials from you than suffer self-doubt! read more

This place is kinda trippy. The weird bluish warehouse lights make nothing look like you would wanna buy it and make all the people around you look sickly. I also think the people that work here don't get payed enough to care, cause they're not exactly helpful. Also lots of shady people here. Just order stuff online and avoid actually coming here. If you can look beyond that though, it's still a Walmart like any other, so if you need stuff cheap, it's a good place to go I guess. read more

I was quite shocked when I looked on yelp to get the phone number for this store to see they only had 2 stars but my phone call with their solidified that rating. I didn't even have the opportunity to go to the store but I'm so turned off by their poor customer service I won't be visiting. I called to ask the status of a product I was immediately redirected before I can finish my sentence. After waiting on hold I got in touch with someone, I asked them if they had a product in stock and her response was "why don't you just come in and see because I have no idea" ..... shocked by this response. Why would I go out of my way to travel to your store if you may not have it. I have worked retail many years and never would I tell a customer this. Completely outraged! As a white female living in Vermont, I have never experienced racism until I started dating my current girlfriend who happens to be black. My girlfriend and her family were shopping here and suddenly we were being followed around by a woman in a red backpack, who is known to be product loss prevention for the store. After about 10-15 minutes of being followed and closely watched by this woman, my girlfriend's aunt started pretending to record the girl. The girl started quickly walking away and began speaking to another employee of Walmart. As we walked past, the girl ducked behind a center aisle display where I watched her lift the strap of her backpack up to her mouth and begin to speak into a microphone. Moments later, three Walmart employees with radios came to our exact location. One woman spoke into her radio and said "where are they?" We continued to do our shopping and were in the grocery aisle when a man named Zac, who was the assistant manager according to his name tag, approached us. He began by informing us that we're not allowed to take pictures or record people in the store and that a customer had complained. His tone and body language was very rude and condescending. When we raised our concerns about being stalked in the store, he practically started laughing and saying that wasn't true. I'd like to note that during this time, everyone in my party remained calm and cordial. An individual from my party told Zac that we will stop recording as long as we stopped getting stalked by Walmart employees. At that point he told us to get our stuff and leave, to which he got a response of "Or we can continue shopping like we have been." So we continued shopping and were later approached by Zac and another man with the name of Erik, who was the store manager. Erik tried to tell us again that we're not allowed to record or take pictures inside the store, but also said that he wasn't aware of anyone stalking us and that if we had anymore problems we could come to him. Anyway, this isn't the first time this has happened and I'm sure it won't be the last. I'm just astonished by the profiling and harassment that occurred today. read more

Really bad carts in this place. Ka-thunk Ka-thunk Ka-thunk I tried three different carts and all had alignment problems and a very annoying flat on one wheel that made an audible thunk and wobble while trying to avoid colliding with the many "islands of stuff" they haphazardly stack in the center of every isle. Kid named Robert with coke bottle glasses was so helpful. He came right over to me I told him what kind of Smart TV stand I had, went in the back and got me a 50" Roku smart tv. I'll second Seth's review. This store is like a maze built by a blind man with a sick sense of humor. That fact is complemented nicely by it being impossible to get anyone on the phone at the store before going, which means you get the luxury of driving all the way to Williston just to find out that they don't carry whatever fairly normal item you're looking for. I called to find out about a mattress cover. I was transferred from electronics to fitting rooms to women's clothing and back to electronics before being disconnected. read more

Worst Wall-Mart. Most times I walk out because items are not available on the shelf. If I do decide to buy something lines are long and even have to wait for self check-out. Not enough staff. Lately I ordered an item from this store using their web-site. I got an email stating don't come in until I get the next email. The following email said sorry the item is sold out. There is zero tracking of inventory. The store needs to shut down, restock and get more reliable staff. read more

Let me start by saying this, I would much rather give my business to Target but the current target in Vermont does not stock everything this Walmart does. Every time I have walked into this walmart location I've felt as if the store has no leadership. Management and staff are rude and tend to refuse to help. Aisles are always blocked by either an employee stocking shelves or an abandoned cart. I had an issue in the store a few years ago with another customer calling me homophobic names and cussing at me for no reason. Staff failed to calmed down the lady and therefor lost my trust. Aside from that, this store always seems understaffed for the amount of foot traffic they get, this seems to lead to way more theft. Stopping in today I found at least 3 empty product packages today within the first 5 minutes of being in the store. Asset protecting at this store really needs to step their game up big time. Usually the one thing I've gone into this store for is either not in stalk (though most of the time the website says otherwise) or it's been stolen. Sadly shopping around this area is limited and Walmart is really the only store around here that stocks the things I need. read more

This place sucks. I don't know who does the scheduling or hires the people who work the checkouts, but they are abominable. I rarely set foot in the place, but needed an emergency radio as a result of our massive power outage. I got in line, and the worker said the line was closed to the 5 or so people already waiting, then we moved to another line - same thing, finally, after two more moves, I was directed to the self checkout which worked, not like the idiots they hire. There is no such thing as a bad Walmart. They are corporate and pretty much all the same. Now one can argue that the Walmart enterprise is awful but this review is for only one store. Back to my point. There is no such thing as a bad Walmart. It is the people visiting the Walmart that make it bad. Sure, Vermont has its share of lowlifes but go to a Walmart in Kentucky, West Virginia, or Arkansas and tell me this Walmart is bad. I can't believe people go into Walmart expecting social grace and class. Another tip. Stay away from this Walmart around the time the welfare checks go out. Absolutely terrible customer service. I am 35 weeks pregnant and forgot my very nice maternity jacket in the store. When I called customer service to see if anyone had turned it in, I overheard the customer service assistant say "What kind of idiot leaves thier coat in the store when it's cold outside? how stupid can you be?" I'm sorry, but for those of you who have never been pregnant and don't understand, when its 50 degrees outside it often feels like its 20 degrees warmer. I bet I will never see that coat again. The most useless Walmart - no- store I've ever been. Spot on with the maze comment. I've never found anything I needed in this store. Last excursion after a year hiatus: searching for straws. NONE! I ended up buying princess silly straws from an end cap. To add to the lack of organization, this store is trashed. Never buy makeup here. I searched through the whole row of Maybelline foundation and every single one had the tamper seal broken and smudges in the foundation stick. There's makeup painted on every display in the section and shelves littered with products. I don't know why, but every time I go in there (reluctantly after giving up going to every store in the area), it's like shopping on Christmas Eve. The lines are always backup up into the hallway, the customer service desk area is jammed with people in no designated line, the Dunks is always full, and carts strewn about in the entry aisle (sometimes these carts are for sale items but who knows). I thought Salem was bad but this one takes the cake for trashy New England Walmarts. read more

Corporate take notice. This store is losing its customers and you money. This used to be the go to for essentials. It's not worth my time. I go to the grocery store now, or kohl's for clothing. This store is disgusting, disorganized chaos. It seriously looks like the aftermath of Black Friday. Empty, messy shelves, isles clogged with merchandise while the "staffing agency, staff" just stands around and talks. Taking two or three people to stock one item. Today while trying to shop for boots, "out of stock as usual. I saw these two women from the staffing agency put infant formula on the one bench used for sitting to put on shoes. Which was already loaded with random boxes and shoes, and just walk away. I wanted to buy a set of drinking glasses, only a couple boxes of 14 count glassware sets. No clothing selection, Dunkin' Donuts is gone now, minimal woman's clothing selection and the quality they did have was thin and cheap. So disappointing. read more

I hate coming to this store, but it's a necessary evil because some basic things like household cleaners, toilet paper, OTC medications, and personal care products tend to be much cheaper than anywhere else in the area. But it's hit or miss whether they'll actually have what you want stocked on the shelf and the checkout lines are insanely long. Why have 20 registers if never more than 2 of them are open no matter 20 people in line or 100? The carts are greasy, the whole place is grimy and smells weird, and of course there's the "people of Walmart" and worse the employees of Walmart. Tonight the 80 year-old miserable-looking and obviously unhappy cashier only credited me $1.00 of the $10.00 in coupons I gave her and then walked away as soon as the transaction was over and someone else took over. When I pointed out the mistake he said go talk to customer service... where there was another 25 minute line and a single rude, tired and exasperated-looking clerk chatting with another employee (also standing around doing nothing) about some joke, whilst ignoring the customer in front of him who looked pretty tired of all this shit too. I just left... and learned a lesson... You get what you pay for. I may have paid more for my items somewhere else, but they wouldn't have made a $9 mistake and if they did, not made me run a time-sucking gauntlet of idiots to get it back. read more

Was in here for a solid two hours trying to find three things, and between being shuffled between electronics and the front registers because no one could figure out how to hit "price override" before scanning the item in order to price match. Not to mention they were extremely rude the entire time because I was doing something completely within their policy. On top of that, the woman at the register I finally left from coughed, sneezed and everything else ungodly directly in my face and gave me the flu. This Walmart should be shut down. read more
