I made what I thought was my yearly appointment which my insurance covers with a $10.00 copay…read more The staff and Doctor I thought were great. The tech did most of the tests with me and then at one point she brought me out to the hallway and put my up to a machine. I had never seen that before and wasn't sure what it was. But didn't think to much about it. The Doctor came in and stated everything looked good same as last year. A few little floaters and the beginning of cataracts, said the same thing last year, gave me a script for glasses, same as last year. Went out to pay my copay. The lady at the desk said they weren't sure what the bill was due to they had to process it through my insurance. My eyes were dilated so again just went on my merry way. 3 weeks later I get a bill for $165.00. I was very confused. Called them. The first lady stated that it looked like they put it through the wrong insurance as she can see the one from last year. Then I got a call from another lady that stated yes, it was the way it was coded and that to put it through the other insurance would be a difficult, but she will pass it along to someone for further explanation. Then I get a woman called Mona, she stated that the Doctor determined it was medical (even though he saw me for about 5 minutes). I said just to put it through my other insurance. She said that's insurance fraud. So I said well, I'm not paying it, have the tech pay for it. She said no, we can't due that and hung up on me. Then I get a text from a collection company, I saw the Doctor on 6/22/2026. After calling both insurance places. I'm stuck with the bill. They never communicated to me that I would have a bill and that my eye appointment was a medical issue. The refraction test is extra that was not communicated as well nor did I get the results from it. They did say that they will take $29.00 off for the refraction. Make sure you ask questions and don't assume. Needless to say I will not be back , its a shame due to that I really liked the Doctor.

I bought the frames from them. What a money grab. I will not use them again ever.

Hunter was exceptionally accommodating and got me from the waiting room to the doctor's office in no time. Dr. McClain is a no frills, straight to the point guy -- incredibly thoughtful, too. The contact fitting went super well (once again thanks to Hunter) and I'm loving the dailies Dr. McClain picked out. There are no hidden costs here -- everything is upfront and clear. I never felt as if I was being price gouged. I even got a $3,000 eye drop prescription for $0 (thanks to the doc and my insurance). I'm happy to call this place my favorite optometry practice! Dr. Lauer who I was told, was here forever and everyone that we dealt with are super friendly and made this visit comfortable. After we got our prescription, we went next door where we met with Amanda (I really hope that's her name lol). She was super friendly, patient, and informational. We're normally used to getting the Oakley brand, but they don't carry the brand. They do have a huge selection of choices and name brands for both men and females. My son and I chose this our glasses and we didn't have to pay for anything because the VSP insurance is awesome. I definitely recommend coming here. This place is located in the Post Oak Mall across the Casa Olé Mexican restaurant. The parking lot is huge so you shouldn't have any problems.
